21.01.2022 Dear Community Members, Coronavirus (COVID-19) has been declared a pandemic by WHO. Both federal and state governments have taken this very seriously and so should we. There is a pandemic plan prepared by the state government for all of us to follow. This updated Pandemic Plan sets out further arrangements for protecting the community and minimizing potential impacts of the coronavirus, and recovery afterwards. Please have a read at https://www.wa.gov.au/covid19 under WA Gov...ernment Reponse. Good planning means we need to consider every scenario and this Plan, together with other specific health and emergency management plans already activated, prepares us for every possible scenario. BAAWA is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to update you on the situation and urge every community member to remain calm, use common sense and listen to the advice. In the meantime, it is important that the community follow the instructions given by the Health Department. Stay safe, stay blessed. Kind regards, Tasneemul Galib (Amit) GS, BAAWA Inc.

18.01.2022 Dear Community Members, As you all know Bangladesh Womens T20 Cricket Team will be playing their World Cup match against India on Monday, 24th February. The organizers have invited us to join in the pre-match community fan zone (called, the "Village Activation"). Quoting from their email -... "The Village Activation at the ICC T20 Womens World Cup is where fans can view the World Cup up close and personal, have a photo opportunity, face painted in their teams colours, play games or sit and enjoy the match. The community fan groups will be an integral part of The Village. Their energy, engagement and passion for the team/country will be pivotal to the fans experience. The Village Activation will be live 2 hrs prior to each match and 1 hr into the match (3hrs total). For double headers the activation will be live for 6 hrs in total 2 hrs prior to each match and 1 hr into the match." So, may I request you all who are going to WACA to watch the match on 24th to assemble near the Gate 2 at 5:00 PM, please? We would like to gather as many of us before entering the venue, wearing our Bangladesh team jersey or cultural attire, with our flags waving and making some noise with whatever instrument (dhol, khol etc) we can bring to the ground. The idea is to bring in some positive energy for our womens team as well as to have some good fun and enjoy the match together. Just be there, at 5 PM near WACA Gate-2! See you all there! Best wishes, Tasneemul Galib (Amit) GS, BAAWA Inc.

10.01.2022 Dear members of Bangladesh community, We are aware that hundreds of visitors from Bangladesh are stranded and thousands of our students are barely continuing online classes without any certainty for sustenance amid coronavirus pandemic and lockdown in Australia. On the other hand, Australian authorities have also indicated limits of assistance to foreign nationals present in Australia. At this critical situation, Bangladesh nationals who are in distress may wish to provide t...heir information in the following link ( available at our website) to enable the High Commission to ascertain extent of their needs. https://bhcanberra.com/covid-19/needs-assessment You are encouraged to consult the High Commission website to get relevant information and advisories. With kind regards, Bangladesh High Commission Canberra
10.01.2022 Dear Fellow Community Members, This is a difficult time were facing right now. Thinking about your health, the health of you children, and the health of your parents/grandparents in these uncertain times - it is scary. Please, in this time, ask for help. We are a close knit community. We have shown that time and again. When people are sick, we bring them food, or help them around the house. When a member of the community needs assistance, we have come forward. When people i...n Bangladesh or wider Australian community needed us to stand tall and contribute in however shape or form, we did. And in this current crisis, that is what we should continue to do. If you are self-isolated or immunocompromised, or live with people who are, ask for help. If you cant go outside, we will get your groceries. If you need another roll of toilet paper, we will find one for you. If you are stressed and scared, we will be there with a shoulder to cry on (1.5m apart of course!). There are so many people who are here to help. If you do need help or if you know someone who needs help due to COVID-19 Coronavirus crisis, please feel free to get in touch! Please do! We are just a call away. Please Call or Text us at 0475 844 762 (a dedicated community helpline contact number), send a message on our facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/baawaperth/ or email us at [email protected] and the community will be there for you (abiding by the legal parameters and social/ health restrictions). 10.01.2022 Dear Fellow Community Members, Just an update on our current situation. Whether we like it or not, we are gradually entering into the difficult phases of the current situation. ... I believe, we all are buckled up and calmly adapting with the ever changing situations, but, difficult times are not far. I would like to thank the hearty gestures of many of our valued Community Members at personal level and I believe, they have a huge impact on our lives. We really appreciate your kind attitude. Since we started with our plan to make "Little effort for our Big Family", we had few enquires from some Community members, who are in a little bit of precarious situation. Some has lost their job and some are in difficulties to ensure their ongoing safe accomodation. I know, the Government has lots of plan for the residents. Unfortunately, that will be our last bit of straw to hang onto. I can cut down my food on the table. But, becoming unsure of the safe roof on top of my head? Its really heart breaking. So, my heartfelt request to our Community, if you are in a position to sublet, or you have any vacant investment properties, where you can accomodate the families in need ( where possible, on minimal rents ), please come forward. At the same time, if anyone has any informations of prospective job opportunities (even part time/casual), please, let everyone know. Please, use the mode of contacts given in the flyer. Our very own Business Owners can take a bold steps in these regards and can give a big boost, if possible. Rest assured, (the respondents and persons seeking help) your identities will remain anonymous (except to the involved parties). Need for raising fund might be needed, which is not our priority at present. Lets make sure, we all have a secured place to stay and a continuous source of earning. I believe, if we all are gelled together and show our true colours, we can manage to go through these difficult times. Looking forward to get your true support very soon. Please, Stay safe and remain blessed. M S N Shahid Rajoo On behalf of the Volunteers
09.01.2022 Dear BAAWA Members, I hope youre keeping well. Its been long since you last heard from me -- apologies for the lack of communication. We have been pretty quiet since March due to COVID, nonetheless, Ive got some updates for you - 1. Please find attached the meeting minutes of BAAWA EC Meeting #3 (only available to current financial members via group email).... 2. We will NOT be hosting any Annual Cultural Program this year due to COVID situation. 3. BAAWA coordinated COVID helpline (supported by many individual volunteers and other community groups) was able to serve a good number of community members (specially our international students), and personally I would like to thank everyone for coming on board with this project and to extend your helping hands. 4. BAAWA AGM will take place some time in late September or early October. Date and venue details will be provided as soon as a suitable venue is confirmed. Now, its time for all of you and your friends (who are yet to become BAAWA financial members) to pay the membership fee. We understand that we havent done much this year (although we were pretty active up until mid March, but quite understandably we couldnt serve all our members as much as we usually could). Time was not in our favor and its still not so favorable in our motherland Bangladesh. In light of all this, we have decided to offer something unique this year - BAAWA will donate 80% of 1-year single or family membership fees collected between 15 August - 15 September 2020 to the flood and covid affected people in Bangladesh. The donation will be sent to a reputable NGO in Bangladesh who are closely working with the flood and covid victims in Bangladesh. Please note that if you want to contribute more for the donation, please feel free to do so (but kindly do it in two transactions or at a minimum send us an email to specify how much you have donated). So, kindly make every effort to pay your membership fees and also invite your friends to join BAAWA. To join BAAWA, please go to https://www.baawaportal.com/Account/register.aspx and register yourself. Once registered, kindly pay the membership fees ($15 for single per year, $30 for family per year) via Bank transfer.
