16.01.2022 Demolished The Mill site is in rubble, the demolition partly cleared. The metal reduced to stubble, the smoke stack’s disappeared! A once proud employment factory now stands, alas in ruin. A skeleton still lies there amongst the rubbish strewn.... They say there’s a phoenix egg, somewhere buried deep below. That once all the land is cleared, new industry will grow! I hope that the site will become the business park of choice. And people who do live there, will exercise their voice! They should have their informed say in all the projects planned. The mill site uncontaminated totally, should be their one demand! Living in harmony with all those people in the street Planned allocations for parks and places they can meet! Our proud town’s pioneering families and history should not be lost. An interactive museum should take place, at not too great a cost. There should be some memorial where the Babinda Mill once stood! Where many people were once employed and gained their livelihood! Howard Kennedy 04.08.3013
16.01.2022 Out and about this morning taking photos ... here is one of Babinda Mill taken from across on the old highway. The large conical hoppers were knocked down and removed during the week. The mill is slowly being exposed ... it's like looking inside the stomache of a whale.

08.01.2022 This was taken quite a few years ago from the highway shop. Notice the trees were still only small then.
