25.01.2022 Sleep deprivation is real with motherhood If you're praying #pleasesleep and thinking of seeking professional help, check out this quick cost comparison I've put together - showing some of the most popular Aussie sleep solutions. As costly as it all seems, there are actually many local services Australia wide that are covered by Medicare and private health insurance. I'm in NSW where Tresillian Early Parenting and Karitane are popular government-funded sleep help services.... I've personally used the sleep programs from Little Ones for 2 out of 3 of my kids. I've found that the awake times and schedules they've set out are more sensible for my kids compared to other programs I've seen. Read my full review: https://blissfulmaternity.com.au/little-ones-sleep-program/ Have you tried any of the paid services I've listed? Or if you know of any other free local services, leave a comment below to share the love! xo Jenny - - - - - - - - - - - - P.S Please do not start any discussion about whether sleep training is "right". I'm not here to start a fight, I'm simply sharing straightforward information for parents who may need it. 18.01.2022 [ S M I L E ] Who's the one behind the camera in your family? Like most mums out there, I'm usually the one taking the photos and videos. But recently my nearly five-year-old has learnt how to turn on and operate my phone camera. He laughs himself silly running around taking random pictures of everything around the house, like his baby brother's butt I love opening my camera roll at the end of the day to see what's been up to. It's usually shots of the floor scattered wit...h toys, someone's feet, blurry shots of his brother... Then I see the unflattering, candid shots of myself, and I think to myself, what a disaster... But then I realise that to my son, all he sees is simply his mama - there is no ugly. I delete 99% of the shots he takes because they're mostly consecutive and unfocused shots, but I keep the remaining 1% as a keepsake (also for shits and giggles). I'm sure 20 years down the road we'll all appreciate having these photos, unglamorous as they are, they depict our real daily lives during a period of global crisis . Tell me, I'd love to know, who usually takes your photos for you? And what kind of photos do you treasure and keep? . . . . . #thehonestcapture #lifeasamama #momlifeunfiltered #wordstoinspire #wordstoponder #motherhoodquotes #thoughtsbecomethings #spilledthoughts #motherhoodjourney #honestmom #raisingthefuture #gratefuleveryday #appreciatethelittlethings #joyfulmama #parenthood_unveiled #honestlyparents #theheartcaptured #blessedmama #momprobs #momtruth #parentinghumour #realmotherhood #mumslife

17.01.2022 [NEW BRANDING] Blissful Maternity is now Baby List Essentials As my long time followers would be well aware, Blissful Maternity first started out in June 2017 as an online store selling 2-in-1 breastfeeding maternity wear. However, in May 2019, I made the difficult decision to pull the plug on the business and pivot it in a direction that played to my strengths and interest - which is research, data analysis and writing... This is how it became the info-blog it is currently, providing Aussie mums with independently-researched comparisons and reviews of the best baby products in Australia. The blog has grown exponentially in the past year, indicating a strong need for local information pertaining to mum and baby products. And so, to provide my readers and Australian businesses with more clarity on what I write about, I've decided to rebrand with a new name, logo and URL. Visit: https://babylistessentials.com.au/ - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - .. ( ) ? From pregnancy to birth, breastfeeding to baby solids, newborn care to toddler play, B.L.E aims to provide useful, time-saving content to help mums complete their baby checklist with good value purchases from Australian businesses. My three key focus for all content: Essential mum or baby products Saves money and/or time Supports Australian economy - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ? Just like before, I will continue to pass on discounts and savings on popular brands to my followers. Essentially, this means you don't have to subscribe to a million other newsletters just to get notified of specials. To give you an idea, I get firsthand notice of sales from many beloved Australian businesses such as: Best&Less, Clarks, BONDS, Mocka, The Storks Nest, Oobi, Baby Jogger, Baby Tula, Cherub Baby, Mamaway, and more! Understandably, some of my older subscribers may be well past the baby stage of motherhood now, so the blog may no longer be relevant personally to you. However, I do encourage you to keep following my page for several reasons: 1) You may decide to have another child further down the road. 2) You may know friends or family who are expecting and may benefit from the information you receive. As always, by supporting B.L.E you are also supporting Australian businesses, so on behalf of everyone, thank you! Much love, Jenny
16.01.2022 I'm almost embarrassed to say this but... five years of using a baby carrier and I had no idea it can be folded! This method works for all standard baby carriers, but it's worth noting that Baby Tula Aus & NZ has one of the most lightweight carriers, so it's easy to fold and stow away. 15.01.2022 Awkward Situations 101 - Surely I can't be the only one... As it turns out, there's a perfectly scientific reason for this. Oxytocin, aka the "love hormone", is produced during intercourse, and surprise surprise, it's also responsible for lactation. All reasons aside, I thought it was pretty funny that my boobies think the hubby is a baby .... x Jenny . . . . . #breastfeedingmama #nursingmama #breastfeedingproblems #mumslife #lifeafterkids #parentinglife #parentingmemes #parentingproblems #breastfeedingmum #breastfeedingbaby #breastfeedingjourney #fourthtrimester #aussiemama

14.01.2022 [ M E A L S ] Back when we were both working full time with two kids under three, hubby and I had tried a few meal prep services, or delivery boxes as they are known. Takeaways get expensive if you're having them every day, plus they're not the healthiest option. Meal prep boxes are a good balance between time, nutrition, and cost. We tried Hello Fresh and Marley Spoon but never persevered with either of them because their menus were way too complicated for us. Even thoug...h the instructions say prep time is under 30 minutes, when you have little ones running away and you're not the most skilful chef, it usually takes us 45 mins to an hour. That was way too much effort considering we are all starving when we reach home at 6pm and the kids' bedtime is at 7pm. The recipes were much too fancy for day-to-day meals, like seriously who has time for parsley garnish and a sprinkle of paprika? @dinnerlyau is a much newer contender in the meal prep space, but they are already proving themselves to be a worthy challenger. Not only is their cost per meal lower than Hello Fresh & Marley Spoon, their menus actually resemble what I would normally make at home if I wasn't working. Nothing complicated and unnecessary, just good old, hearty home-cooked meals anyone can whip up in less than 30 mins. And their high ratings on both Trust Pilot and Google are already reflecting customers' delight. If you want to give it go yourself, get $45 off your first three boxes via link in bio @blissfulmaternityau . 12.01.2022 Did you know? Started in 2016, Blissful Maternity is an ongoing collection of product comparison research as part of my own motherhood needs, written specifically for Aussie mums and babies. Why? Because most information sites out there are dominated by the U.S market and often not applicable to those of us living here in Australia. ... With three boys around and graphic design work on the side, I research in snatches throughout the day when the baby naps, and then write fervently at night when the kids are in bed. I do this because I hope to save you precious time and help you make informed purchase decisions without needing to spend hours doing your own product research. If you have found my articles useful in one way or another, you can support my independent work by buying me a coffee in the form of a donation Help me stay awake https://ko-fi.com/blissfulmaternity Read my latest articles https://blissfulmaternity.com.au/
10.01.2022 S A V I N G S I've used both reusable & disposable nursing pads over a span of three kids, but I never chose one over the other due to costs. But by the time baby no.3 came around last year, I did wonder whether disposables were costing me significantly more? I sat down, did the math, and apparently, the savings isn't very much, which was slightly surprising. Bear in mind my calculations were based on my own usage. I have an overactive letdown and tend to leak quite a bit, ...so I go through a lot more nursing pads in a day, for both disposables and reusables. That said, the savings should be proportional regardless of your flow and will be around 80%, i.e. if you're spending $200 on disposables, you can expect to save approximately $160 by switching to reusables. However, take note that contrary to popular belief, reusable nursing pads are actually LESS absorbent than disposables, i.e. you need to change them more often than disposables, otherwise, they start feeling wet against your skin and will leak through. They are also prone to moulding if you do not change, wash and dry them diligently. Trust me, you do not want to find mould in your nursing pads... Anyway, for my calculations, I used my own personal favourite brands: Disposables: @riteaidaustralia Reusables: @naturebond_international To see more of my product comparisons and cost findings, visit link in bio, or go to blissfulmaternity.com.au. x Jenny . . . . . #babyprep #breastfeedingmama #nursingmama #breastfeedingproblems #mumslife #breastfeedingmum #breastfeedingbaby #breastfeedingjourney #fourthtrimester #aussiemama #aussiemumlife #aussiemums #riteaidaustralia #firsttimemummy #firsttimemama #newborn #breastfeedingessentials #babyessentials
09.01.2022 [ C O L D S ] Have you heard the news? Southern & Eastern Australia are in for a wintry, snowy blast today and rest of this week! In the Chinese culture, we have a belief that transitions between seasons are often peak times for viral infections as our bodies adjust to fluctuating temperatures and the dry, cold air. So kids panadol is a household essential for me in the lead up to winter every year. Through personal experience, as well as looking through reviews by other... parents, I've determined that Dymadon is the best infant paracetamol in Australia for four reasons: 1) Tastes better than Panadol Babies - especially since Dymadon comes in three different flavours whereas Panadol Babies is just one flavour. 2) Longer shelf life - it's suitable for 1 month to 2 years, whereas Panadol Babies is only up to 1 year old. 3) Almost three times cheaper than Panadol per ml. 4) Has overall higher review ratings than Panadol according to ProductReview.com.au What's your baby's preference? Do you have a preferred brand at home? 05.01.2022 [ H E A L T H C O V E R ] With private health cover in Australia rising each year (thank God they waived it this year due to the pandemic), many TTC couples are weighing out the pros and cons of buying pregnancy health cover. Look, Australia is super blessed to have free healthcare, and your total cost for pregnancy and childbirth (PLUS postpartum care) via the public healthcare system comes down to a whopping $180! Private insurance, on the hand, will cost you AT LEAST $7,...500 per child (and that was two years ago!), so if you're planning on having multiples, better start saving up ... 02.01.2022 If you're pregnant, did you know you can have more than one cup of coffee per day? No seriously, you actually can, if it's coffee delivered to your doorstep by Second Cup, because their coffee is pregnancy-friendly, with each cup containing only 5-7 mg of caffeine, well below the recommended 200mg per day. They use a chemical-free decaf profess called Swiss Water, which is really as natural as it sounds, so the single-origin coffee retains its beautiful flavours. ... Their month-to-month subscription service will be opening end of this month, join the waitlist now so you don't miss out! They deliver Australia-wide, and did I mention they are Melbourne-based? Everyone knows they have the best coffee there, so these guys know what they're knowing. 02.01.2022 [ T R U T H ] As mums, we're ALWAYS functioning on the bare minimum - whether it's sleep, patience, personal needs, or physical energy. I've decided to be more conscious of self-care. It's okay to take a break from #mummyduties. If hubby can lock the door when he's pooping and play on his phone, then so can I. If my kid is firing questions for the hundredth time today, I will tell him I'm tired please go play with your toys. It's okay to tell others what you need. We can't... be everything for everyone, all the time. We're not perfect, limitless beings. It was the toughest time last year when I was in my third trimester with #babyno3. Running after two kids, still doing chores, running a business... I was low on everything. I couldn't even have more than one cup of coffee to keep me running. Things have changed now, though, new Melbourne startup @secondcup.co offers a monthly subscription on their natal-friendly coffee, which actually tastes good, so pregnant mums can have their second cup of coffee too. Happy mums raise happy kids, and you can't be happy if you're always depriving yourself of what you need. Take a moment today to tell everyone to buzz off so you can indulge in something you enjoy, whether it's a shower, a book, gardening or a cuppa. x Jenny . . . . . #selfcarelove #sendcoffee #melbournemade #melbournebusiness #coffeemoment #ineedcoffee #thisismotherhood #mynameismama #realmotherhood #honestlymothering #motherhoodintheraw #aussiemums #pregnantmamas #pregnantproblems #thirdtrimesterproblems #babycomingsoon #pregnancylife #mumssupportingmums #smallbizsquad #workingmums #babyno2
