24.01.2022 So we all know the Corona virus, or COVID-19 is freaking people out and I wanted to assure all Babylonians we're making this space as safe as possible so you can still get your favourite brew. We've upped our cleaning regime, cleaning more often, with even stronger chemicals (this actually ties in nicely with my OCD). While we're very lucky to have an open air garden setting, which makes it very difficult for germs to fester, we've spaced our tables out even further from one... another for the time being to be extra cautious. On top of that, we'd ask any patrons who've had cold or flu like symptoms, or travelled overseas to the hot spots, to give us a visit once you've come out of quarantine. We'll miss you guys, but we want to keep everyone healthy! And don't forget, for large workplace orders, we can organise some special deliveries. 22.01.2022 Babylon is more than a business and more than a source of income for me. The connection I have with so many people who frequent the cafe means that so many of you are not just a customer to me, you are my friend. It is because of this that I struggle to inform you that I have made the decision in light of what is happening due to the coronavirus, to shut the cafe down indefinitely from tomorrow. This is not a business decision. ... I am one of the many who are immunocompromised (I have Crohns disease) and Ive come to the point where Im not comfortable continuing to work in an environment so exposed to so many people. Its heartbreaking that the job I love is no longer one that right now, I feel comfortable doing. We will reopen, that I can assure you. But for now, please know that I will miss you all and look forward to seeing you back in the cafe, hopefully sooner rather than later. 16.01.2022 Well, it's been a long and hard fought battle, there's been plenty of ups and downs and the cream has risen to the top, but the cliches are now over. The winner of the first inaugural Babylon Footy Tipping Competition is McNaughty, who takes home the major prize of a $200 Babylon gift voucher, as well as a hoodie from our major (and only) sponsor, Fiori Coffee. ... He will also be the first name on the plaque to be mounted in the cafe shortly, which will be displayed for all to see and provide posterity for his great season of tipping. Second place goes to TalisaurusRex, who wins a $100 voucher as well as a Fiori t-shirt. Third place goes to Battle Hero, who wins 10 free coffees. It's been an awesome season of footy and the interest shown by the tippers has ensured that this competition will be an exciting annual event.

Owning your own café/bar/restaurant may sound like a dream, but the reality is its a tough daily slog for little (or in some cases, no) profit. When the economy is weak, many of your favourite spots to hang will be struggling to survive. 07.01.2022 Today is special. 4 years ago Babylon opened its doors with the hope that people would appreciate and enjoy an experience based around their daily coffee. Ive tried to provide an environment that not only provides a great, consistent coffee, but one where you can also grab a delicious bite to eat and know that everything is made with love. From the coffee to the food and from the music to the garden atmosphere, its also a place where weve always wanted everyone to feel re...laxed and at ease. The fact that were still going strong 4 years later is a credit to many people. My mum has been making world class cakes and slices from day 1. Without her help, Babylon would not be the same, and not a day goes by without someone saying that I need to tell your mum she makes the best brownie/caramel/Pharaohs finger/etc Ive ever had. So thanks Mumbo, your efforts are appreciated by not only me, but by everyone whos ever had a Babylon treat. To Lisa, my right hand woman, and Hannah, my left hand woman, you guys keep the place moving forward with or without me, and I thank you both for your hard work and for putting up with my daily moods. Obviously the coffee is a big part of Babylon, and my friends/family at Fiori Coffee have always helped me to deliver the quality and consistency that you coffee lovers demand. And of course, to all you beautiful and supportive customers, it couldnt have worked without you.
