25.01.2022 On Thursday I arrived in Wallerawang for work and as the fog started to clear this is what I saw. Around -4 degrees and the ice was very thick indeed. It was beautiful to behold.

24.01.2022 3 years ago this property in Mt Wilson was severely hit by bush fires. As you can see in these photographs there is quite a large expanse of open hillside. Only 12 months ago this same hillside was massively covered in very large Eucalypts. Unfortunately nearly every one of these same trees was marked by professional Arborists as condemned due to fire damage. While the trees were still standing, it was only a matter of time before mother nature would bring them down. It was ...imperative that the owner act and hire tree loppers to bring them down in a controlled situation. We were left with a huge bare hillside. After many months of discussion the owner and myself agreed that we should break the hillside into sections to make it much more easy to walk across. These photographs show it still as 'lunar' landscape but with the help of big machinery some amazing pathways have been created. After the contractors with their machines left a couple of weeks ago, my offsider and I started the task of levelling it out by hand and re-seeding with new grass. It took 6 very long days. Tomorrow I will take new photographs and you will see the transformation which is already taking place. By the way, the views are to die for - seriously!! See more

22.01.2022 It's time I posted updates on where I'm at with one of the properties in Mt Wilson. My last lot of photographs were November 2016. These photographs were towards the last week of December 2016. Here I am planting 'Snakebark' Maples, these are from Taiwan and a particularly rare species. These will grow to about 6 metres tall and become a wonderful avenue of trees overhanging the pathway. Also you'll see that I have just started to lay 'top dress' for the beginnings of the gra...ss against the retaining wall. Over the next couple of days I will post more photographs showing more progress. This retaining wall and it's landscaping has so far taken 18 months.

21.01.2022 Today I had to plant 3 new water lillies into a pond. The first photograph, while taken in 2015, shows the pond frozen over. This year the pond froze over 4 times, the last time only about 4 weeks ago. The water was still seriously cold today but a man's got to do what man has to do!! At one stage I felt like King Neptune, the only thing missing was the tidal wave. I do love my work though.

20.01.2022 A couple of days ago I took possession of my new Isuzu D-Max. Feeling rather proud with some very hard work these last few years beginning to really shape my life.

20.01.2022 These photographs show a job I am currently working on in Lithgow. It is the 'Three Tree Lodge' Aged Care and I'm very much enjoying it. There are two other gardens at the back of the property which I completed some weeks ago. These photographs show the main garden at the front entrance. As you can see it had quite a steep slope so I have installed a sleeper retaining wall. 30 years ago I could carry a sleeper on my shoulders. Now it's all huff & puff and tilting from one sid...e to the other :((. Not all the plants are in, still waiting on 5 more to arrive. In the 3rd last photograph you will see an empty pot. This is to show where the feature "Crimson Sentry' maple will go. In the photograph before it you'll see a 'Golden Halo' conifer. Over the next year or so this will form as a weeping standard down to the ground in a large ball. Shortly the whole garden including the area behind the sleeper wall will be covered in leaf mulch. 19.01.2022 As a step to further build my business and to build on a personal dream I will be moving from my log cabin in Blackheath to live in another beautiful log cabin on 5 amazing acres in Mt Wilson. All going to plan I will be resettled by late June to early July. My Blackheath log cabin will be rented out for at least for the next 2 years. My life this last year has seen changes that I could only have imagined even 3 or 4 years ago.

19.01.2022 This is my new home in Mt Wilson. It is the same as my home in Blackheath (cypress logs) with 3 bedrooms and a large study. Also on 5 acres with amazing views to Sydney and the coast 100k's away. I have been here for 4 days and feeling truly blessed. I only have one complaint, the wombats digging through the night are quite annoying

19.01.2022 About 2 months ago I received a message asking if I wanted to look at a property on the north east side of Mountains and see if I wanted to take over the management of the gardens. This is what I saw when I got out of my vehicle - the CBD, the ocean and the coastline up to the north. I've been doing quite a bit of work there since and what an absolute pleasure. This photo is from the top of the property overlooking the house. The main gardens are below and is all waiting for me to put my signature to it. There is one section I've been working on for the last few weeks in preparation for a large function this weekend. I'll post some photographs shortly.

17.01.2022 Lillies in full bloom, with amazing fragrants on some.

16.01.2022 Then later in 2011 I started to create my front garden.

10.01.2022 With only about 6-8 weeks before summer ends it is now time to start thinking about your winter plantings. Winter is always the best time to put in new plants as the cold weather gives their root systems time to establish well before the summer heat returns. Did you know that many 'nurseries' provide 'root stock' plants during late autumn & early winter? These are the most efficient and cost effective way to purchase plants - e.g. roses, deciduous trees, citrus & fruit trees.... Your nursery should, within the next week or so, have available their purchase lists. You will need to get your orders in very quickly as many wholesalers often run out of stock. For any one who lives in and around the Blue Mountains let me if you want to purchase anything and I can arrange a list to be sent to you.

09.01.2022 I thought I would post some photographs of my house in Blackheath. These photographs were taken in May 2011, 2 months after I purchased the property. I had only just finished clearing all the undergrowth from both the front and backyard.

08.01.2022 Here is the next project I have been working on in Mt Wilson. On the same hillside as previous photographs, at the bottom part of the hillside my client wanted a retaining wall built. There was 8 months in the planning, measuring, putting in stakes for string lines then pulling it all apart and starting again. Then the time came (4 months ago) to start digging the first holes. I am using well matured railway sleepers from Victoria. On some days with the assistance of my good ...friend Corey from Lithgow and then most other days on my own and recently with some assistance from my clients son this is where I am at now. Due to the overall size of the property I advised my client that we should be doing a double wall. One wall would have been lost and overwhelmed by the sheer size of the property. I am truly thankful for the trust and belief in my work that my client has in me. See more

07.01.2022 A few weeks ago at one of the gardens in Mt Wilson I had to hire a 'cherry picker'. This beautiful old cherry tree (approximately 70 years old) had succumbed to heavy snow late 2015. The weight of the snow was so heavy it caused a split right down the centre (last two photographs). The owner and I hesitated for nearly 10 months before deciding that one half of the tree had to come down. It was quite sad but necessary. I was going nearly 8 metres up. I have to say the views across the Grose Valley to Blackheath was seriously impressive.

06.01.2022 After 2 years my 'Black Tulip' magnolia has created it's first beautiful flower.

05.01.2022 Advertising on my vehicle, looks great and giving me good visual as I drive around.

02.01.2022 This is where I had lunch on Thursday, a property at Marrangaroo after being at Wallerawang that morning.
