12.01.2022 Big thanks to HBF for inviting me to share my approach to feeding babies with new parents. If you’re an HBF member you might get this via email this week! https://www.hbf.com.au//dietitian-tips-on-how-to-introduce

12.01.2022 This was my 15mo’s lunch today. Yep, she had a regular white bread roll and a cheap sausage (likely a coles bbq sausage) with some corn and fruit. Recently the lovely Emma from @emmasmyth.nutrition challenged a group of dietitians to post real life food pics to prove that #perfecteatingdoesntexist I show you meals every day that I feed to my baby. That’s my real life. I don’t hide anything- I show you what she has. Food is important to me (particularly as a paediatric dietiti...an) and so I choose to spend time prepping nourishing meals for my babe. BUT... I never want to get obsessive about it. Today we had our daycare Christmas party and Elsie had a sausage in a bun to take home. It’s likely a bulk pack sausage filled with cheap meat and gristle. It’s also just a sausage. It’s cheap white bread with almost no fibre. It’s also just bread. I could have taken it off her and offered something more nutritious. But I didn’t. I just gave her the sausage and bread and added a few bits and pieces to it. I want to teach my baby that food is just food. It’s not good and it’s not bad. There’s no morality in food. Sometimes we eat these foods and sometimes we eat other foods. That’s just normal eating. Perfect eating doesn’t exist. #foodisjustfood #sausagesizzle #feedthebaby

11.01.2022 Time to drink and win! Over on Instagram, I’ve talked about the importance of teaching babies and toddlers to drink from an open cup. And this Little Luca Can Do Cup is my absolute favourite first cup. In exciting news, Baby Mealtimes and Sleep Tight Babies have teamed up to give you the chance to win this super useful Can Do Cup for your and a friend. The three legged design makes it easy for babies to pick up and prevents the cup from being upended when your little one p...uts it back down on top of the corn cob! For a chance to win, follow this page AND Sleep Tight Babies, like this post and tag a friend who would love this cup for their baby. I’ve got two to give away- so you and your friend will both win! Competition closes on Friday 18th January at 5pm AWST. Open to Australian residents only. . *This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed, administered by or associated with Facebook or Instagram. By entering and participating, the entrant agrees that Instagram is not liable for any issues associated with the competition. Winner will be randomly chosen and announced here on 18th January. Good luck! ps. I'm giving away two cups here AND on Instagram. You can enter on both platforms x

08.01.2022 I think too often we get caught up in wanting to feed our babies in the ‘right’ way. I don’t actually believe there’s such a thing This article shows how different first foods can be around the world. There’s obviously a lot of generalisation, but you get the point! One interesting point is about the peanut based snack introduced early to babies in Israel. It’s not the healthiest food out there, but the rates of peanut allergy are much lower than most other countries. Early... exposure does seem to be working in Israel! What is/was your child’s first ever food?
