25.01.2022 Love this! And that's not including cats and dogs!

24.01.2022 Brain Development! One of the most exciting advances in child development has been the discovery that babies learn before they are born. Even more amazing is the fact that during the first year, babies learn more than at any other time in their lives. ... By the first birthday, the babys brain has doubled in volume as a direct result of the trillions of connections made between the brain cells. This is why it is so important to introduce a rich variety of sensory experiences at every possible opportunity which is exactly what we do at Baby Sensory! Our classes incorporate engaging, fun and fascinating sensory activities to amaze your baby, build all those wonderful connections and create a beautiful environment for you to connect and have fun!

24.01.2022 Love Love Love this!!! Babies 1st Christmas is the most magical time ever! There are limited spaces available at the Baby Sensory Christmas Party on the 5th December. Book in quick through the Baby Sensory website for a sensory sparkly spectacular show!

24.01.2022 Do newborns benefit from Baby Sensory? ABSOLUTELY! Baby Sensory has been specifically designed for babies from 0-13 months. ... The newborns brain contains more than 100 billion brain cells. The majority of synaptic connections for vision, language, hearing, smell, taste, movement and learning will be formed in the first three months of life. Synaptic connections are formed as a result of actions, events and experiences that the baby encounters from birth and stimulation from birth increases those connections and neural growth. Baby Sensory provides a rich environment of sensory experiences, giving babys the best foundation for learning and providing parents with information and ideas for play and an all round wonderful and connected time spent with your baby and with other like minded families. Some of the wonderful things we do in class include Baby Sign Language, music, massage, exercise, light shows, sensory play, developmental information, bubbles and much much more! We've done the research; so you can enjoy the fun!

23.01.2022 Usually in the middle of the night too!

23.01.2022 Rolling over There are lots of babies in class at about 4 months old who can roll from back to front but not the other way! Resulting in them getting stuck on their fronts and frustrated! The ability to roll the from front to back depends on upper body strength therefore this may not be achieved before 6 months.... Here's a few tips to encourage your baby to roll the other way! Plenty of tummy time during supervised waking hours will strengthen your baby’s upper body muscles Rolling over can be encouraged through play. If a toy or rattle is wriggled or shaken to one side, your baby may roll over to get it Put your baby’s arms and legs in the correct position (one arm and shoulder tucked under the body, the other knee bent) and gently roll him over. He will soon get the idea and attempt to roll over on his own Sing ‘Rock-a-bye-Baby’ and gently rock your baby before rolling him over Play ’Peek-a-boo’ on one side of your baby to encourage him to roll towards you Make rolling over an enjoyable activity. If your baby seems uncomfortable, try again when he is rested and ready to play Some babies find it easier to roll over when their nappies are removed Rolling over is an important milestone in your baby's development and the starting point for all other balance skills, including sitting up and crawling. Remember though, all babies are different so these milestones often occur at different stages.

08.01.2022 Question Time What is Baby Sensory and why do thousands of babies a week come to our classes? Were a learning and development programme specifically designed to be suitable from birth, taking your babies on a magical journey each week until they reach 13 months of age. From puppet shows and musical instruments to baby signing, massage, singing and dancing...we offer an incredibly diverse range of activities which differ each week over the entire year!!... Are we a new class? No Baby Sensory launched in 2006 and classes now run from 28 countries! Were proud award winners of multiple accolades in the field of Baby Development classes too! Are we just a Mummy group? No! We have a huge number of Daddies, Grandparents, relatives and carers who come to class each week, contributing to our diverse, warm and welcoming environment. What happens at Baby Sensory? Youll experience 40 minutes of Sensory activities, visiting underwater worlds, lying beneath jungle vines, having a teddy bears picnic or zooming through space! Will I learn anything from the classes? Yes...youll learn loads! Our activities are backed by 35 years of expert research and experience and youll learn lots of useful development information along the way. Wheres my nearest class? We run weekly classes in locations across the Northern Beaches. Term 4 classes are running in Collaroy on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and Balgowlah on Thursdays and Fridays. Is my baby too young, too old, too mobile? If your baby is under 13 months then Baby Sensory is for you! Our youngest baby was just 3 weeks old but the majority of our young babies start around 3-4 weeks of age. Babies are never too mobile! Crawlers and walkers make the class entertaining, energetic and fun! Do you offer any trial sessions? Yes, we offer trial sessions but only once all full term bookings have been taken. If you find a class that is already full just join the waitlist and Sheena will contact you just before the classes are due to commence. It's usually really tricky to tell if your baby will enjoy it after only one session. They take a few weeks to settle in, just like us adults! Each week is so different, it's really difficult to show you all we do in one week, so we really do recommend booking in for a term. Ok Im sold...How do I book? Head to the Baby Sensory website and find a class time and day that suits you and your baby. Term 4 is opening to the public this Friday at 7pm. Follow our socials to keep up to date on booking release. Classes usually book out very quickly so please book early to avoid disappointment.

08.01.2022 Tummy Time can be encouraged by placing bright, colourful objects in front of baby to interest them. Introduce tummy time gradually, two or three times a day for a few minutes and it will soon become part of your daily routine. Neck, back and arm muscles take time to develop so introducing tummy time little and often works to strengthen and lengthen all those ligaments.

08.01.2022 Little Pirates in clas today!!

06.01.2022 I am feeling this right now but got swept away by social media!

06.01.2022 Thank you Sheena, we are half way through our first term of Baby Sensory and we're absolutely loving it! The themed weeks are great and the classes are as much fun for the babies as they are for the mums! Sheena is so kind and caring and really makes the effort for us all to learn the songs and have a great time! We highly recommend attending baby sensory.

06.01.2022 We had so much fun in class today!

05.01.2022 Ever wondered what your baby is thinking? Well, they are busy trying to make sense of the world around them using their incredible senses Sight, Hearing, Taste, Smell and Touch. Every new sensory experience creates a wonderful explosion of connections in the brain which is then processed and stored into a memory! When that experience is repeated the memory is strengthened which is why you may find some babies enjoy the same activity over and over again. It's working ...with a certain part of their brain that is storing, processing and enjoying the emotion that experience has created! Fascinating memory processing little wonders!

05.01.2022 Ever wondered what a Baby Sensory class looks like? Sneak a peek inside and listen to our favourite Baby Sensory magical song!

02.01.2022 Speech and language are complex life skills and yet babies understand words and whole sentences before they can talk! Expressing themselves with their body language, by about 8 months old, if signs are repeated regularly your baby may be able to sign back to you and start to communicate with you!!!

01.01.2022 Such a special day for Dad Fathers Day is coming up on the 6th September so there's still time to order online! What ideas do you have for gifts?

01.01.2022 Heads, Shoulders, Knees & Toes Heads - Encourage head control by introducing plenty of tummy time from birth. Over the first few weeks of your babies life you will see a rapid change in strength and your baby may start to try and move their head when they hear your voice. Shoulders - The strong need to learn compels babies to lift and turn their heads and they will start to move their upper bodies to try and see what is happening in their surroundings.... Knees - Babies have soft squishy knees made of cartilage and the bone has not formed yet so they are the perfect soft vehicles for babies to move around on. Toes - Going barefoot improves balance and coordination, builds arches, strengthens ankles, and makes the muscles work harder. They have a lot of discovering and adventuring to do on these little feet!

01.01.2022 In the first year of your babies life dramatic and amazing changes happen to their brains and they have doubled in size by the time they reach one years old! Babies who experience our award winning program will be exposed to new and exciting smells, sights, textures, music and activities that stimulate every developmental area of their growing brains and bodies. Our baby classes vary every week so your baby will enjoy over 50 activities during the 10 week term and we lo...ve watching your child develop and grow and hit their milestones while enjoying the interactive activities we provide. Created especially for babies from Birth to 13 months and running each term for 10 weeks there is so much opportunity for you to connect and understand your babies development and to build those all-important friendships for yourself too! Term 4 starts in October and runs through to December, bookings open soon - watch this space!

01.01.2022 Reflections This week we are using colour, textures and mirrors, working with babies eyesight and tracking abilities and encouraging the eyes to work together. There is a whole lobe in the brain that is dedicated to sight called the occipital lobe and it is vitally important to stimulate this from birth to grow and develop eye function.
