25.01.2022 "What if my baby falls asleep during class?" Some parents worry about baby falling asleep during the class. With many babies attending from 2, 3 or 4 weeks old this naturally can happen as babies this age do sleep a lot when they are so tiny. However do not panic or worry that they are not learning from the activities, they are still learning passively by hearing all the different types of music we play which helps us to communicate thoughts, ideas and emotions in ways that n...o other stimulus can. It offers a whole range of other benefits too, from pain and stress management to improved motor and rhythmic coordination. It also contributes to the positive development of the human brain. They can also feel all the different textures we offer each week which stimulates new brain cell connections whilst asleep, so are still gaining lots from the sessions, while you are learning developmental information for the coming months and tips for sensory play at home. Coming along to the sessions is also vitally important for your health too. Talking about the ups and downs of having a new baby and hearing tips and coping mechanisms from peers is great for building new friendships. Quite often we hear from parents that Baby Sensory is the highlight of their week and gives them something to look forward to and focus on.

22.01.2022 Toddlers - Welcome to the great outdoors! Lets enjoy the see-saw in the park, make some delicious vegetable stew to enjoy at our picnic and build ourselves a den!

22.01.2022 Did you know that fast moving objects stimulate cells in the central part of the eye (the retina), which enables babies to focus on the path of a moving object. This skill is really important for aiming and catching objects accurately later on in life.

21.01.2022 Morning, we still availability in our 10:30-12PM Stay and Play session today for anyone with a little one between 1-4 years. Where: 3/1428 Anzac avenue, Kallangur Cost: $10

21.01.2022 Clapping encourages babies to bring their hands to the midline, and then take them back again. Clapping and Patting stretches and extends hand muscles and leads on to other skills such as waving and crawling(babies use flat hands when crawling). If a clapping and patting sequence is introduced regularly, your baby may be able to replicate the pattern by 11 month of age.

21.01.2022 Did you know that nursery rhymes play a huge role in speech and language development? Actions, singing and rhyming helps babies to separate and make sense of the words. The higher pitch we use when singing grabs babies attention! Lets have fun and increase your babys vocabulary with Baby Sensorys Rhyme Medley session this week. #babysensory #babydevelopment #drlinday #lovebabysensory

18.01.2022 Did you know?... From their very first breath, when calm and alert, a baby has the ability to: communicate through body language hold the head up for a few seconds when pulled to a sitting position... make crawling movements in the prone position perform stepping movements across a flat surface free the face when lying in the prone (tummy) position study the parent's face focus on the parent's eyes study the parent's mouth movements when he or she is talking mimic facial expressions and stick out the tongue in reciprocation when the parent sticks out theirs recognise and respond to the parent's voice by turning his or her head turn towards the sound of a rattle track the movement of a slowly moving object react sensitively to certain stimuli A lot is happening in the brain of a newborn and the first few weeks are crucial in laying down solid foundations for future development and learning. Everything a baby hears, sees, touches, smells or tastes provides a basis for these foundations. From birth there is a massive burst of synapse formation, which peaks at three months. An astonishing two million new connections are formed every second. Synaptic connections are formed as a result of actions, events and experiences that the baby encounters from birth. Baby Sensory classes give you the opportunity to spend quality time with your baby with rich, sensory stimulating activities using different textures, sights, sounds, smells and tastes. These develop neural connections between the brain cells and develops intelligence.

17.01.2022 Ooh la la! We are going to be taking the babies on a trip to France this week Baby Sensory style, and will be learning all about your babies incredible capacity to learn languages at this tender age. Why not dress your baby in their best continental outfit for the day?! #babysensory #babydevelopment #drlinday #lovebabysensory

17.01.2022 Attention Northern Brisbane babies - rest up for your first baby’s Olympics

16.01.2022 Thank you for help keeping everyone safe in class

16.01.2022 What if my baby is mobile? Providing babies are safe and you are always close by, once babies start crawling or find their feet, they will be on the move. You should never feel worried if your baby wanders off in class, our class environment is always safe and comfortable. The need to explore is part of normal development and it is praised and encouraged.... A happy, secure, comfortable and confident baby will move away from you and it is a sign of a strong, healthy relationship. However, your baby will still want to know you are close by. Even if you think your baby isnt learning, plenty of character development is taking place. You should not feel any pressure to bring your baby back to the sensory area if they are happily engaged in play.

15.01.2022 During the first year of life, the brain grows more than at any other time. Connections made between the brain cells will double the volume of the babys brain by the end of the first year. These connections grow and strengthen when the baby uses his senses.

14.01.2022 Can my baby really learn maths? At Baby Sensory we have different themed lessons every week with hundreds of activities designed to promote all aspects of a babies learning and development...and YES babies can learn maths. Patting and clapping are great ways we will introduce your baby to mathematical patterns. Our activities which involve patting and clapping are also great ways to encourage social skills, participation, and enjoyment. By 11 months old, babies who have been regularly exposed to the two alternate actions, can carry out a 2-sequence patting and clapping pattern. 14.01.2022 Can newborns really benefit? Absolutely! Baby Sensory has specifically been designed for babies from 0 - 13 months. Many people are unsure whether they take anything in. The firm answer is YES they do. ... Baby Sensory classes provide parents with essential information, techniques, ideas for play and one-to-one activities; so that they know how to foster their baby’s learning potential from the very beginning. Stimulation from birth increases synaptic connections and neural growth. Repetition strengthens synaptic connections between the brain cells. Touching, talking, singing, reading, smiling, signing and playing with babies from birth, nourishes the brain and develops potential for a lifetime. A rich environment full of interesting sights, sounds, smells, taste, colours, textures and language will build a foundation that will make all subsequent learning easier. This is why early postnatal experiences are so important and why it's so exciting that these classes are available for your newborn. 11.01.2022 Term 4 starts this week and we will have many new toddlers starting with us including those who have graduated from Baby Sensory. Here is a quick read about what you can expect when you come to class and what is 'NORMAL' in regards to your experience! 1. Please give your toddler a bit of time to 'warm up'. It's a new environment, with new people, lot's of new and exciting things to do and look at, they need time to process all of this! Sometimes ten or fifteen minutes, someti...mes a couple of weeks. Please know this is normal. Sometimes it's our expectations of how they 'should' be acting that over rule their emotions and thought process about this new experience. Just follow their lead and give them time and space to take everything in. 2. Your toddler will probably run around - a lot! It is totally ‘NORMAL’ for our toddlers (especially the boys) to run around during the structured activities. This can be because again, everything is new and they are busy soaking it all in and not 100% sure of the routine and what to do yet. It can be because their brain wants them to move (we know that brain development is directly linked to movement) and so that's okay, there is even evidence to suggest that boys especially learn better while moving. Give them time and encouragement and this usually settles. 3. Your toddler will join in some activities, maybe not all. Different children are interested in different things at different times. Toddler Sense varies every week and has such a variety of activities that there will always be something within each class they absolutely love. Again, this is completely ‘NORMAL’. 4. Your toddler will have 'situations' with other children. It might be sharing, or personal space, or packing the props away. It's ‘NORMAL’ and a good thing they are having these experiences in a safe environment. Our classes are designed to help with social development, so these 'situations' are excellent learning opportunities for your toddler and helps them to prepare for kindy and school. 5. Your class leader and your toddler will be asking you to join in. It's so important to really engage with your toddler during class so they get the best out of it. This engagement could range from using the musical instruments with them, pointing out the lights or bubbles or perhaps picking them up and talking to them whilst pointing out what is going on in the activity. Our classes are a huge learning opportunity for your toddler and you will see them develop so much over the term. We also get to know your toddlers well and share your pride when they reach another milestone. I could explain lots of others however these are the top 5 most common things we see when toddlers first start. We hope these help and give you some reassurance about what is normal, you can always talk to us in class as well. See you in class soon for lots of fun adventures! See more

10.01.2022 Term 4 commences this week So what does a Toddler Sense class entail and what makes our classes so unique? Firstly, every week is different, in fact you could attend weekly for two years and never have the same experience twice! Each week is a brand new adventure.... Our classes feature original music the whole way through and are led by our trained Class Leaders who will create magic, excitement and 'wow' for your toddlers. Classes commence with free play where toddlers can climb, jump, bounce, roll, run and have fun exploring! Your 'passport' is stamped each time you come and toddlers love collecting a new stamp each week. After a bit of tidy up time which encourages your toddler to learn about being organised and helpful, we sing our hello song called 'How Do You Do' with our very special rhythm sticks. Then we go on our special adventures with a series of sensory filled activities which are sure to bring wonder and fun with many of the ideas able to be replicated at home! Adventures include glow parties, toy box, 'fishing' , 'bonfires', catching rainbows, magic shows, dancing, nature trails and so much more! We finish off with our goodbye song called 'Say Goodbye' and see you all again the following week. Our classes are designed to promote exercise, mental alertness, imagination, social & emotional development and an understanding of the world in a fun, positive and energetic way. See you soon!

09.01.2022 Did you know...babies develop hand-eye coordination long before they can talk? This is because the motor areas of the brain develop faster than the speech centres. Signing strengthens the motor pathways, which ultimately increases brain power. Signing also enhances visual development and social skills. Best of all, it encourages communication and fun interactions between the parent and the baby, which increases the bond between them.

01.01.2022 Did you know.... Dr. Lin Day on The Essentials of Play "Play is fundamental to healthy brain development. It lays the foundation for reading, writing, mathematical reasoning and problem solving. Play provides an emotional outlet for tension and frustration and it is crucial to the socialisation process. In fact, play is so important that it has been globally recognised to be a fundamental human right. Play can be quiet or noisy, energetic or passive, social or non-social, relaxed or serious, imaginative or purposeful. Play may or may not require toys or equipment. It does not need an end product. Play is a spontaneous, self-motivated activity that is initiated and controlled by the baby or child. However, play at all levels must bring pleasure and fulfilment. If it is not fun, it is not play."
