02.01.2022 * PLEASE SHARE * My name's Annette, I'm the owner of Babyview. I just wanted to share this because I feel it's very alarming and wrong how the media portray Covid-19 Testing. ... My 9 year old, husband & I recently had the testing done electively at the Adelaide Women's and Children's walk in Covid 19 Clinic just to rule it out. I must say after seeing all the awful images on media I was so anxious and fretting about having our daughter tested and how she'd cope, expecting a melt down and having to possible get an army of nurses to hold her down. We've all seen the awful images and video of a long swab being forced down peoples noses, children's heads being held back in cars etc. I've listened to many concerned clients in fear and actually holding off testing because no one wants to traumatise their children if they don't have any symptoms which is completely understandable! I just want to put your mind at ease and tell you about our experience. Please be assured what you see through media is not the case at all! We arrived at the clinic and were given masks and sanitiser to use. The seats were spaced out between families. My daughter was very nervous after seeing video footage on the news. A small boy possibly 5 walked out happy and I was able to say to my daughter, 'see he's ok so don't worry'. The nurses were absolutely lovely and cheerful helping to calm our nerves. After 5 minutes of giving details we were put in a room together and while our daughter watched youtube on my phone, the test was done. We got our daughter to chose who would go first and it was Dad. She saw his and started to feel better. A small swab a little longer than a earbud was first put in the mouth with a little tickle at the back of our throats then the same swab at the back of our noses, a quick few seconds, no discomfort just a slight feeling of needing to sneeze and our daughter barely noticed! That was it...free to go. The most we would've been there was between 15-20mins including wait time. There's a short term car park near the front entrance that doesn't cost anything and its all the time you need. 3 days later we got an sms to say we were all negative. Such a relief, it had been lingering in the back of our minds for weeks. Please, if you have any symptoms or if you just want to rule it out like us for peace of mind, just do it.
