21.01.2022 A reminder: To honour the incredible men and women who served in World War Two, we have created a limited edition commemorative badge set, only 1000 of these ha...ve been made. We cant mark the 75th anniversary of the end of World War Two with our traditional commemoration, but there are many ways that we can show our veteran community that we thank them for their service. Do you have someone special who would appreciate such a significant and heartfelt gift? Show you support by purchasing a commemorative badge set here https://bit.ly/3i2b0JF and help the RSL to deliver services to veterans and their families when they need our help the most. #VPDay75

21.01.2022 How amazing is this piece of memorabilia. Recently donated by Phil Wilkinson. The Sun, from 8th May 1945. We have quite a bit of memorabilia in our hall. When life gets back to a semblance of normal, pop on down and check out our various items on display.

20.01.2022 This year, we are asking Australians to support the serving and ex-service men and women of the Australian Defence Force and their families, in these times of great need, by making a donation at anzacappeal.com.au #lestweforget

18.01.2022 A little different to previous years. We have loved seeing the photos from our community and their drive ways in the various community groups. For all those that made it special at home THANK YOU!!. Add your pictures to this thread.

16.01.2022 At 6am on ANZAC Day musicians everywhere are being called on to take to their front yards to play the Last Post. A grassroots campaign for Australians to comme...morate Anzac Day at dawn in their driveways is gathering momentum across the country. With traditional services and marches cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic, RSL branches in every state have unanimously endorsed the gesture, with families across the nation expected to stand at their gates, on balconies or verandahs at 6am on Saturday April 25. Please join us and the rest of Australia in this special moment to remember all those who have served and sacrificed for this nation. We may not be able to stand together as we usually would, but we can still stand united in spirit. Anyone interested should download the sheet music, start practising and notify their neighbourhood via a letterbox drop. http://musicformateship.org/ #MusicforMateship #ANZACDAY #drivewaytribute #lastpost #Minutesilence #COVID19 #isolatedbutunited

16.01.2022 Our beautiful Avenue of Honour turns 102 this week

15.01.2022 This year instead of buying an ANZAC Appeal badge, we are asking all Australians to donate at anzacappeal.com.au We know that COVID-19 will increase the need for funds to help our veteran community, and we need that ANZAC spirit and the help of all Australians to get through this together. Please donate online at anzacappeal.com.au. #wewillrememberthem

13.01.2022 Lots of new Poppy badges this year

12.01.2022 Australian local war memorials have remained at the heart of community commemoration for well over a hundred years. The introduction of measures to halt the spr...ead of COVID-19, such as social distancing will prevent Victorians from congregating at our war memorials this ANZAC Day. In response to this, the Where I Remember campaign seeks to provide an opportunity for us to share our stories of how memorials have enriched our lives. To take part in this exciting campaign, simply send your story and an image of the Victorian memorial that you would like us to feature to [email protected]. Please be sure to include: The name and location of the memorial Which conflict, unit etc., the memorial commemorates A story of why the memorial is special to you Your first name and town/suburb where you live if you would like this information included. Be sure to check the RSL Victoria Facebook or Instagram accounts over the coming weeks to see our stories. #whereiremember

12.01.2022 Calling all Victorians! Your official state commemoration service for ANZAC Day will be streaming live from 6am EST on the RSL Victoria Facebook page! Please tune in and #STANDTO as we remember all those who served.

11.01.2022 Tahlia Dodd (aged 10) recently contacted the RSL as Tahlia wanted to contribute to the ANZAC Appeal. With social distancing making it impossible for us to fund raise, she decided to do as much as she could. The reason was because she wanted to remember the people who fought for our country. She had photographs of her Grandfather Bill Russ in the Airforce 460 Squadron WW2, and Great Great Grandfather Albert Forester who served in the Army in WW1. Rosemary was growing in her... garden at home, so she made bunches tied up with ribbon she had bought and asked for gold coin donations on her Facebook page. Tahlia was delighted when she found people donated more than expected. She contacted our secretary Carl with a donation of $70. Her very proud mother and grand mother came to witness this moment of Tahlia and Carl holding photos of her ancestors. Such an achievement from one so young. Well done Tahlia and a big thankyou from the RSL Committee and all the members.

11.01.2022 THE HARVEST FESTIVALw HAS STARTED!!! Come on down and join in the fun. We have the sausage sizzle happen with Mark and the boys. Our RSL handmade cards. Raffle tickets available.

11.01.2022 RSL Victoria held an emergency meeting of the ANZAC Day Commemorative Committee (ADCC) to discuss whether commemorative services on ANZAC Day would go-ahead ami...d rising Coronavirus (COVID-19) concerns. The following decisions were not taken lightly: - There will be a single service (at dawn) at the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance however the public will be asked not to attend. - The Dawn Service at Melbournes Shrine of Remembrance will be conducted with small number of official guests and modified to minimize COVID-19 risk. - The ANZAC Day march through Melbournes CBD and midday service at the Shrine of Remembrance are cancelled. - RSL Sub-Branches across Victoria will also be asked to conduct a single ANZAC Day commemorative service only. The public will also be asked not to attend these services. Follow the link to read the full media release: https://bit.ly/3aXCRXP

09.01.2022 To our Bacchus Marsh Community, Remembrance Day is fast approaching, at the moment we don't believe we will be allowed to hold a Public Service. But we do have Poppy tokens and will be selling at one outdoor venue being Main Street outside Westpac Bank from Wednesday 4th Nov until Tuesday 10th Nov, 10am to 4pm (excluding Sat/Sun). Please help keep our volunteers safe and maintain distance from the table. Tokens can also be purchased at the RSL from Wednesday and in some of our local shops. We thank you for your continued support

09.01.2022 ANZAC Day 2020 will not look like the ANZAC Day that so many of us are used to participating in. There will be a Dawn Service, wreaths will be laid, the last post will be played, a minute of silence in memory of the fallen will be observed, but the service community and the public will be asked to stay at home. This does not mean that ANZAC Day is cancelled. It just means that ANZAC Day will be different. In 2020, on April 25, while you cant go to the Shrine of Remembrance o...r a local Dawn Service, the RSL is asking that instead you #STANDTO. As the Last Post is played during the ANZAC Day Dawn Service walk outside, stand in your yard, driveway, or on your balcony and observe a minute of silence in respect of our veterans. Make sure that you snap a quick picture and share it right here on our Facebook page using the hashtag #STANDTO. Together, lets amplify our commitment to the ANZAC spirit. Lest We Forget.

06.01.2022 ANZAC DAY 2020 will be different. Regrettably there will be NO public dawn service or March. Covid19 may have made us change the way we do things but it will not make us forget the significance of Anzac Day.... We are asking our Bacchus Marsh community who would normally attend the dawn service and/or march, if they would individually commemorate this most important Day, by watching the National Broadcast from the Shrine on your TV, or going to your door or gate with a candle, putting a flag, a poppy, or a photo of a loved one in your window on Anzac Day. Appeals Token sales at this moment, we will NOT be out selling tokens, we cannot put our volunteers at risk collecting. Donations can be made online to the Anzac Appeal via the RSL Victoria website. Bacchus Marsh RSL will continue to follow the advice given by RSL Victoria. Above all please keep yourself safe and practice social distancing Cherrison Lawton Bacchus Marsh RSL President

06.01.2022 Dawn Service Details: The Dawn Service at the Melbourne Shrine of Remembrance is this year a mixture of pre-recorded and live content that will be broadcast from 5:50am to 6:20am on ANZAC Day. Tune into Channel 9 who will televise the entire service live or the RSL Victoria Facebook page. The ABC and Channel 7 will start their morning at the Australian War Memorial and then join us in Melbourne at 6:10am. The Melbourne dawn service is the only service happening in Victoria on... ANZAC Day. We think that this makes it a historical event. Never before has there been, and (hopefully) never again will there be a lone service on ANZAC Day in Victoria. Be a part of history and watch the Melbourne dawn service at home this ANZAC Day. RSL is endorsing the Light Up the Dawn Campaign nationwide. As the Last Post is played during the ANZAC Day Dawn Service walk outside, stand in your yard, driveway, or on your balcony and observe a minute of silence. Australians are encouraged to take a candle, a torch or phone with them, to help Light Up The Dawn and to celebrate that ANZAC Spirit. Take a photo and share it on social media so that all RSL members can together celebrate the ANZAC Spirit this year. If you like hashtags, use #StandTo or #LightUpTheDawn or #ANZACSpirit. A reminder that social distancing must be maintained during this event. We acknowledge for many of our service personal including military and civilian that the dawn service is especially important chance to network. This is not the time to do that face to face. Please do not congregate in your neighbours drive way.

04.01.2022 We are living in extraordinary times. The fight against the COVID-19 pandemic is like nothing weve ever known in peacetime Australia. We need your continued support through these difficult times, so we can keep caring for the service men and women who fought so tirelessly for us. You wont see our wonderful volunteers out on the streets selling ANZAC Appeal badges. So, this year, Im asking you to please donate online at anzacappeal.com.au. Its a safe and secure way to donate and your money will be used as it always was to support our returned veterans and their families. Please encourage your family members and friends to go online to donate too. #anzacappeal
