23.01.2022 There is a significant incident near Cressy (west of Geelong), involving seven high voltage power transmission lines which have come down due to storm activity in the area. This incident may have an impact on Victoria's power supply as there is a high likelihood of power outages and load shedding. Current advice for all Victorians from the Australian Energy Operator is -... *Turn off non-essential appliances including your washing machine, tumble dryer and dishwasher *Set your air conditioner to 23-26 degrees *Switch off your pool pumps If you have a critical need for electricity (eg. for medical equipment) please plan ahead now. 22.01.2022 Our thoughts and prayers are with all the families, friends and colleagues of the four police members who tragically lost their lives on duty tonight. And also to emergency services that were involved in this horrible tragedy

22.01.2022 Today's fire danger rating for Central is Extreme. If a fire starts it will move fast and quickly become uncontrollable and unpredictable. If you live in or are travelling through fire prone areas like dense bush or dry grass areas, it’s safer to move to built up cities or towns for the day. Discuss your plans with family, friends and neighbours and monitor conditions.

14.01.2022 House fires can happen to anyone, any time. More than 90% of Victorians recently surveyed agreed that having a working smoke alarm at home made them feel safe. But only one in ten households have their smoke alarms in the recommended location, with the remainder putting themselves at risk of serious injury or death.... Are your smoke alarms in the right places? Our latest fire safety advice is that all homes should have smoke alarms installed in each bedroom and living area to give everyone the greatest chance of escaping a fire. CFA data for the last 10 years shows a quarter of all house fires resulting in death or serious injury started in bedrooms. More than half occurred between the sleeping hours of 8pm and 8am with the majority starting between midnight and 4am. Most fatalities occur in July and August. So winter is a critical time for you to be aware of the dangers that may be present in your home. More information can be found https://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/plan-prepare/silence-is-deadly Only working smoke alarms save lives.

13.01.2022 Bacchus Marsh Group of Fire Brigades sends our condolences to the Adair family for the passing of Bacchus Marsh Fire Brigade Member Pat Adair at 101 years old. RIP Pat - your contribution and commitment will always be remembered and appreciated.

09.01.2022 COMMUNITY INFORMATION: Tomorrow evening, Wednesday the 29th April at 5:40 pm, like many other CFA brigades across Victoria the Bacchus Marsh Group of Fire Brigades will sound their sirens four times. Each siren sounding will represent and honour the brave Victoria Police Officers who lost their lives in the line of duty in Kew at 5:40 pm Wednesday 22nd April 2020.... If you can hear our sirens at 5:40pm tomorrow, there is no reason to be alarmed. We encourage community members to utilise this time to take a moment to reflect and remember the sacrifice made by these brave officers who tragically lost their lives in the line of duty. You can add your individual condolences to the Victoria Police In Memoriam page here; https://bit.ly/2x5MqG4 #emergencyservicesfamily #victoriapolice #cfa #weworkasone

05.01.2022 R U OK Day 10/09/2020 A conversation could save a life. Inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with the people around them and start a conversation with anyone who may be struggling with life.... You don't need to be an expert to reach out - just a good friend and a great listener. Use these four steps and have a conversation that could change a life: 1. Ask R U OK? 2. Listen 3. Encourage action 4. Check in Who will you ask - R U OK?

05.01.2022 An absolutely terrifying image has been sent in to ABC Gippsland. A mother took this photo. Her two primary school aged sons are in the boat with her. They're out on the Mallacoota lake trying to stay safe from fire, it doesn't look like it but it's daytime. Around 5000 people are gathered at the Mallacoota boat ramp. Waiting to see how close the fire will come.... It's been confirmed some homes around Mallacoota have been lost. It just goes to show how unpredictable fires can be, with residents unable escape due to fires surrounding the area and limited egress from the area.

05.01.2022 Victoria Police launched Operation Safeguard this week to help prevent and detect the occurrence of intentional and reckless fires #WeWorkAsOne #OperationSafeguard
