23.01.2022 MOONSET THIS MORNING As the moon approaches the horizon it becomes less brilliant as light has to travel through more of the earth's atmosphere. But it was sti...ll impressive as it set behind the island this morning. See you in town today for the Ledge to Lancelin downwinder. Kite- and wind-surfers should be on Ledge Point beach from noon for the sausage sizzle and when the wind picks up, 2 - 3pm, those gathered will head off to Lancelin staying within 400m of the coast. There'll be another run tomorrow in stronger wind. The jetskis will be racing in the bay from 9am to noon, there's the Party in Wangaree Park, a day of fun at the tavern with entertainment for youngsters, fireworks after dark and then a band through til the wee hours. The morning has b...een spectacular with very light winds and a clear sky and with the winds tipped to turn and increase mid afternoon there'll be plenty more wind- and kite-surfers doing the downwinder from Ledge to Lancelin. 11.01.2022 IT'S ON TOMORROW!! The Ledge Point to Lancelin downwinder. Kite- and wind-surfers of all levels are invited to join in this casual sail along our coastline. ...Sausage sizzle on Ledge Point beach from noon and when the sea breeze arrives (forecast for 2-3pm), the group will head off on a leisurely jaunt to Lancelin staying within 400m of the beach. Given the wind won't be too strong tomorrow, there'll be another casual sail on Sunday when the wind is tipped to be stronger. There's the Party in the Park tonight and tomorrow in the bay the jetskiers will be having a field day from 9am. Head to the tavern tomorrow night for a big night celebrating the unofficial Ocean Classic with a big fireworks display. BRING IT ON!

06.01.2022 LANCELIN WELCOMES NEW TOURISM VENTURES Lancelin is a popular destination for day trippers from Perth, but at present, those visitors are saying they want more a...ctivity options in town. Sure you can hire a sand board, do a quad bike or buggy tour and hire a surf/SUP board now, and those activities are popular with visitors. However, we're looking for other operators to provide kitesurfing and windsurfing gear, kayaks or small boats or perhaps bikes. The right operators will receive valuable exposure on the Lancelin Facebook/Instagram page and on the Lancelin website which sees between 400 and 800 unique visitors heading there each week. Already the website provides considerable income via online bookings for tourism operators. But we need more and we are happy to help the right operators get a good start as we head into the busy summer season.
