25.01.2022 The Laws of Medicine: Field Notes from an Uncertain Science by Siddhartha Mukherjee: The first law of medicine, according to the author is A strong intuition is much more powerful than a weak test. Or, what you think you are seeing is more likely the case than what the computer spits out if youve been doing all the wrong tests or dont know the true circumstances. The second law is "Normals teach us rules; outliers teach us laws. That is, pay attention to the one pers...on for who has a different story, a different treatment works for them, or they are the ones to beat the odds. It is their studying their differences that furthers medical knowledge. The third law, For every medical experiment, there is a perfect human bias is a warning that we see what we want to see. That no matter how well tests are designed, double blind for instance, there is always the possibility of confirmation bias in their interpretation.

18.01.2022 International Association for the Study of Pain The importance of pain-related fear in the development and maintenance of chronic pain is widely supported. The fear-avoidance model (FAM) postulates that pain-related fear develops if pain-related sensations are interpreted as threatening and thus trigger both hypervigilance to pain and avoidance behaviors." 14.01.2022 Listen to Dr Craig interviewed LIVE by Chris Smith on 4BC (4111), Brisbanes Premier News and Talk Radio Station! Do you suffer from chronic pain ? 13.01.2022 How to set up your driving position achieving the correct seating and steering wheel position not only makes you more comfortable, its safer too. Every time you jump in the car, the first thing you should do is get into the habit of setting up your seat correctly. Car manufacturers spend millions in research and development to make cars safer, but many safety systems rely on the driver being in the correct position.... Getting your drivers seat right allows you to have more control over the car and gives the airbags and head restraint a chance to do their job in an accident.

12.01.2022 Stem cells are certainly the medical flavor of the month, particularly with a growing aging population that desires to stay young, healthy, and active.

11.01.2022 Dr Mark Craig is again volunteering in Bagan, Myanmar (formerly Burma). We wish him all the best! The clinic is run by Dr Hla Tun, a Burmese physician who works on The Road to Mandalay, one of the tourist boats on the Ayeyarwady River, 4 days a week and runs a clinic for provincial subsistence farmers, who travel up to 2 days in the back of a truck, then wait up to 5 days to see him, while being sheltered and fed by Buddhist monks, on whose land the clinic was built. On hi...s own, Dr Tun sees up to 1000 people each weekend, assisted by trained but unqualified assistants and has been doing so for over 10 years without relief. On my previous visit in 2014, I demonstrated hundreds of joint injections and epidural steroid injections to Dr Tun, who has subsequently performed them on his patients. I was assisted by 2 bright young women who worked in the clinic, but who spoke no English, so I left funds with Dr Tun to pay for them to undertake English speaking classes and I hope that, if they are still working in the clinic, they will greet me in English upon my return. Bagan, southwest of Mandalay, is the ancient capital of Myanmar (formerly Burma). Located on the eastern bank of the Ayeyarwady River, its known for the Bagan Archaeological Area, where more than 2,000 Buddhist temples and pagodas tower over green plains. Holy sites around Old Bagan include the ornate Ananda Temple, built in 1091 and topped with a golden stupa. Nearby is the vast 12th-century Dhammayangyi Temple. Dr Craig will back consulting in our Milton rooms on Monday, December 10.

"Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms are prevalent among youth with hashtag#chronicpain, and associated with poorer hashtag#pain outcomes and health-related quality of life (HRQoL). Conceptual models suggest that parent factors, including parents own chronic pain, may be linked to higher co-occurring pain and PTSD symptoms and lower HRQoL in children.
