21.01.2022 TREATING YOUR OWN SCOLIOSIS Scoliosis is one of the most responsive and satisfying spinal conditions to treat conservatively. Hard to believe, but the woman i...n this photograph is 81 years old. She first came to see me 12 years ago and even I was surprised that her scoliosis was as marked as it was, as shown on the scans. I treated her conservatively by mobilising her spine (yes, with my heel) and getting her doing the BackBlock. More recently, she came to see me and her spine seemed straighter and more mobile, and hardly painful at all. I asked her 'had she been doing anything different'. She said that since her husband had died she had been doing most of the gardening herself, including digging and turning the soil over with a spade, which he used to do. It just proves my point that the more normally and strenuously you make a back work - doing everyday 'backy' things the better it behaves.
