16.01.2022 Why would I get a running assessment? There are two major reasons to look at evaluating and changing the way you run. Firstly, if you are injured it is a great way at looking for any possible technique issues that might be contributing to your injury? Secondly, it can be a great way to enhance running performance. What is involved?... A running assessment is done on a treadmill, using a tablet to allow for detailed video analysis of your running technique. For example we can analyse foot landing position, joint angles, track significant muscle weakness or technique adaptions that might be leading to injury, or a decrease in performance. Once these have been identified, drills are then give for you to work on for at least 2 weeks before rechecking your technique to monitor improvement. Is there anything else I should be doing to fix/improve my running issues? A running assessment is only one of a number of components that can help with your running. If you are getting pain then a more detailed analysis of your bodies strength and flexibility will help. If it is performance you are after then ensuring you have a good training regime/running coach is also very important, as well as doing as much as possible to improve recovery time after training. If you have any questions regarding running assessments or running in general, give Hamish a call on 6282 9992.
