25.01.2022 Spring Cleaning Alert! By popular request, sharing my ‘cheat sheet’ on which essential oils NATURALLY repel creepy crawlies! I use our handcrafted, Australian-made essential oils in little linens bags, on cotton balls or made up into a spray to use in shoe cupboards etc... use in moderation, as our oils are 100% pure & very potent! My fave Lemon is also Good to repel spiders... smells beautiful with Lavender, which repels moths so good for your wardrobe! ***Edit: For those... asking about spiders/spider-webs, this is a distillation of several well-known essential oil authorities ~~ ... Peppermint is the most effective oil to repel spiders. Besides peppermint and spearmint, essential oils for spiders include citrus elements like orange, lemon and lime. Citronella, cedarwood, tea tree oil and lavender can also be effective. However, do consider whether you want to get rid of spiders at all. You obviously want venomous spiders to be far away, but in many cases, especially if they’re outside windows or doors, spiders are effective pest control all their own! There is no better natural insect exterminator than the spider, and no more potent bug repellant than a spider’s web... I personally am always concerned about moths and spiders in my shoes, boots & coats, so I am sharing this checklist... but be aware, Australian native spiders are different, and I find lemon/citrus can be more effective in some cases! Remember natural repellants may need frequent, light sprays ( with a few drops of our enviro dishwashing liquid for consistency) For safety for you and your family I usually recommend linen bags/cotton balls, and of course the usual disclaimers about pets & children apply... just most of these suggestions are for cupboards and outside I would presume! #backtobasics #backtobasics_williamstown #naturaloils #essentialoils #springcleaning #creepycrawlies #naturalrepellant #naturalinsectrepellant
