24.01.2022 Royal Hotel family member, Thomas Tatchell's son James breaks his arm whilst playing football at the sale of 620ac to John Catto of Memsie Estate, the 2 miles Loddon River frontage adjoining some of the finest land in the district. Dr Adams attended to youth and arranged transport to Inglewood Hospital.

19.01.2022 1930 fatal accident in Marong, Smith of Inglewood charged. December 25, 1930 Truck driver charged with murder ... Joseph Alexander Isaac Smith, aged 40 years, carrier, of Inglewood, was charged at the Bendigo Court with having, at Marong on Christmas Day, murdered Edward James McLeod, aged 68 years, a prospector, of Echuca. In asking for a remand, Senior Plain clothes Constable McMillan said that on Christmas morning McLeod was knocked down by a motor-truck and killed. The driver of the truck did not stop. Smith was remanded until January 23, bail being allowed in his own surety of 500 and two other sureties of 250 each.

14.01.2022 The battle of Beersheba took place on 31 October 1917 as part of the wider British offensive collectively known as the third Battle of Gaza. The final phase of ...this all day battle was the famous mounted charge of the 4th Light Horse Brigade. Commencing at dusk, members of the brigade stormed through the Turkish defences and seized the strategic town of Beersheba. The capture of Beersheba enabled British Empire forces to break the Ottoman line near Gaza on 7 November and advance into Palestine. See more

12.01.2022 21st March 1912 Pyramid Hill Race incident ... On this day in 1912 an unregistered race meeting was held at Pyramid Hill. The weather was fine and warm. The attendance was only moderate. An unfortunate accident happened during the progress of the Pony Race. The placed ponies had just passed the winning post when one of the seven runners crashed into the primitive structure used as the judge’s box, and razed it to the ground. The occupants escaping unhurt with only a severe shaking, also the Pony and the rider were hurt. Several of the spectators, however, were not so fortunate, as besides a number who sustained minor abrasions, three wore rather seriously hurt, Mr. J. McCready received a broken jaw, Mr. Michael Stritch a broken rib, and Mr. Phil an injury to the knee.
