18.01.2022 The Breastmilk Microbiome Human breastmilk is teeming with bacteria. One of the recently appreciated benefits of breastmilk are that the mother directly passes ...her gut microbes to the child. The breastmilk microbiome is packaged to design the newborns oral-gut and entire microbiome. When I see dental issues in children today, I now think back to issues they may have experienced in the womb. During pregnancy, the spike in progesterone increases gut permeability. Leaky gut is known for its link to disease. But pregnancy seems to induce a degree of leaky gut. Transporting gut bacteria to the mother’s blood stream is necessary. From here they travel in special immune system packages to the mammary gland. The milk microbiome is extremely diverse. The mother’s body orchestrates the packaging of microbes in breastmilk. It also profoundly changes during lactation. The reality is that parents pass on their own microbial and immune legacy to our children. In the mother, special immune cells carry microbes from the gut to the mammary glands. They are like a taskforce that handpick the microbes that will begin the ‘discussion’ with the newborn child’s mouth. During the first few months of life, the newborn oral and gut microbiome are uncolonized from the outside world. The oral microbiome is the first to be colonized, which then seeds the gut microbiome. Later these microbes become the child’s immune system. Breastmilk provides the blueprint of microbes that will impression a child’s immune system. Research is now linking changes in the newborn microbiome to allergies, obesity and type II diabetes. If there is one thing I’m talking to parents about these days, is the profound impact your own health has on your childs health. A family share an entire microbiome and with it, a strong immune system, or a susceptibility to sickness. A mother’s microbiome critically shapes the oral flora of a newborn. I believe that if you look for something that you can FEEL gratitude for each day it can help create new connections in the brain. New connections that seek out good feeling situations. ... It could be as simple as Today I felt grateful for FEELING WARM and SAFE as I sat in the sun drinking a cup of tea Or Today I FELT STRONG and POWERFUL when I did my Qigong If you can do one NEW GRATITUDE FEELING at the same time each day ( maybe before your bedtime ritual) it will require your brain to look for more good feeling situations. When your subconscious brain is busy looking for good feelings there is less energy spent looking for not so good feelings. Try it ! One new gratitude FEELING each day x

14.01.2022 BOWEL HEALTH AND BACK PAIN Lower back pain may very well originate from an overloaded or sluggish bowel. The nerves that go to and from the bowel originate in ...the lumbar spine; the same nerves go to the muscles and ligaments that stabilise the lower back. Constipation, dehydration, lack of a healthy diet all contribute to lower back pain. Kidney pain, liver pain and associated shoulder pain - (referred pain from bowel) Are all signs that you need to re-evaluate your food and liquid intake. If you have a large distended bowel you are also putting extra strain on your lumbar spine. The abdominal muscles become prolapsed, the colon falls forward, the intestinal contents stagnate, the bowel becomes distended, the ileocecal valve becomes incompetent, infection travels up the small intestine and illness results! Excessive overload in the bowel is also responsible for lack of assimilation of nutrients, meaning that you would only be absorbing about 10% of the nutrients from your food. Eating good wholesome natural foods, including a variety of whole, live, raw foods: Fruits, vegetables, nuts, seeds, a small amount of fresh fish or chemical free chicken. Whole grains can be included IF they are treated in the correct manner before consumption- eg sprouted grains. Gluten intolerant people can use amaranth, buckwheat, oat groats, quinoa or brown rice ( let me know if you need to know the correct way of preparing grains) "Dis-ease begins in the bowel "

We try to eat the right foods, we try to exercise the right amount, we take our vitamins and herbs and hope to sleep well at night. We also drink coffee, eat chocolate and laze around doing nothing and forget to look after our health. Some get anxious , some get depressed, some are happy and some are sad. Some are excited and motivated and some just can’t get out of their own way. ... Today I just want you to remember to be kind to yourself and others.
