10.01.2022 More than 400 people attended the Mental Health and Suicide Prevention gathering at the Clare Town Hall tonight. For those wanting to pick up some of the strategies that Dr Fleming mentioned, one way could be joining Back2Basics which has already been involved in both spreading information throughout the Lower North and organising mental health training seminars; it is in recess awaiting renewed interest. Show interest via Lennon St, or 8841 3500. Another option is to be a support person for someone with mental health issues. The Mental Health Volunteer Support Program is run by the Clare Medical Centre and Clare Valley Christian Outreach; training is provided. As we learnt tonight, the community needs to get involved for effective action to reduce harm.
