19.01.2022 Public Service Announcement It is with a heavy heart that we must address our loyal customers and friends. Over the last couple months we have been weighing up this difficult decision and have finally reached a verdict: Backdoor Bakehouse will be going on hiatus effective December 1, until further notice. The main reason behind this is due to our Head Baker & Owner entering her final year of studies. As a small business, much of what happens runs through her and as a res...ult she is irreplaceable. Rather than risk compromising the quality of our products to stay in the game, we will return when we can give our 110%. It has been an exciting time for us since February from just making 50 pieces of croissant a week to 800 pieces. We are beyond grateful for our regular customers and followers for the constant support. We are also grateful for the cafes who believed in our products and proudly showcased them in their stores. Thank you all! Please keep an eye out on our page for updates as we may come out to play from time to time, whether that may be through stalls at markets or special flash sales at Cherry and Grapes (looking at you Durian lovers ). 13.01.2022 In February 2019, we started Backdoor Bakehouse with big dreams but small means. We were renting half the kitchen space of a popular cafe in West Perth with plans to convert the backroom into our own retail spot once business picked up. That was the origin of the ‘backdoor’ in Backdoor Bakehouse; customers would use the back door of the building to get to us. Both the cafe and our bakery got busier than expected. It was clear that we’d eventually need a bigger kitchen to impr...ove production and with the cafe doing so well, they’d need their space back. In addition, our head baker had personal commitments which led to our decision to go on hiatus. During the hiatus we’ve recharged, reinvigorated and re-evaluated our goals. We’re grateful to everyone that made Backdoor Bakehouse possible, from the team to our customers. That being said, we’re buzzing to finally have our own commercial kitchen. Enough rambling. Time to invest all we’ve learned into Zonts Bakehouse let’s roll.
