25.01.2022 Happy Grand Final Day! It’s looking a bit different this year. Who will win? Don’t forget to get out and exercise. There’s no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing #backinmotionbalnarring #physio #movementforlife #aflgrandfinal #morningtonpeninsula

25.01.2022 Feeling 'just mehh' all over? The impacts of COVID-19 are taking their toll on our mental health, no matter whether it's related to social isolation, lack of ex...ercise or boredom. Being aware of how you’re feeling and knowing what you can do to look after your mental wellbeing is an important part of staying healthy during this challenging time. The Australian Government has provided some suggestions for keeping 'mentally fit' during COVID-19. Looking after your physical health, sleep patterns and diet Staying connected with friends and family Developing new routines to encourage that 'sense of achievement' Taking breaks and being kind to yourself so you feel calmer and happier Seeking support through friends and family, or contacting support services If you, or someone you know, is struggling and needs further support, Lifeline Australia, Beyond Blue and Kids Helpline Official are all services available to help you through this time. 25.01.2022 Important Update for Stage 4 Physiotherapy - https://mailchi.mp//important-update-for-stage-4-physiothe

25.01.2022 With today being World Heart day, we wanted to share some tips on how to look after the hardest working muscle in your body (your heart!). Every year, physical inactivity contributes to over 1 million preventable deaths. Making a conscious effort to keep active can improve your cardiorespiratory health and significantly reduce your risk of heart disease. This doesn't mean you need a gym membership! Physical activity can be as simple as going for a walk, gardening or doing housework.

24.01.2022 Welcome Natalie to the BIM Balnarring team! Natalie graduated in 1998, completing her Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at La Trobe University. Natalie has extensive clinical experience across hospital and community settings. Natalie and her husband moved to the Mornington Peninsula 9 years ago, shortly after the birth of their first of three children. In her spare time, Natalie loves playing basketball (her team won a silver medal at the 2019 Australian Masters Games) and netball (she played state league netball in her earlier days), going to the beach with her family and walking with friends and her dog.

24.01.2022 STAGE 4-FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Can I visit my partner who lives outside the 5km radius? Yes, but please don't travel during the curfew of 8pm-5am, unless yo...u are travelling directly from your place of work or if it is for caregiving. How can I shop if there is no supermarket within 5km of my house? You can absolutely continue to shop at your nearest supermarket, even if that is more than 5km away. If you live in Red Hill or Flinders and need to get to Dromana or Balnarring for your food shop - of course that's fine. If you live in Blairgowrie and need to food shop in Rye or Rosebud, again, absolutely fine. However, if you travel from Rosebud to your favourite artisan bread shop in Mount Eliza or Somerville, you are liable to be fined. My mother lives by herself and is extremely frail. Can I take care of her at her place? Yes, and please continue to do this - caregiving is vital during these times! My elderly parent needs help doing the shopping, can I help them? Yes, you could either do the shopping for them or accompany them while they shop. My husband and I are both retired and getting a bit older and often need each other to help with the shopping/carrying the groceries. Can we visit the supermarket together? Yes, if you are reliant on someone for help to do your shopping due to physical constraints, you can go to the shops with your partner. I'm 34, fit, healthy and can carry my bags all by myself, but I always go shopping with my partner, it's something we like doing together. Can I continue to do this? No, please do your shop solo. I live in Rosebud but my favourite bakery is in Frankston, can I visit? No. You can get your bread at one of our many fine bakeries in Rosebud. Can I still go to my doctor's appointment next week even though it's outside the 5km radius? Yes of course, please maintain all your health and medical appointments over the next six weeks. I live in Balnarring and I love McDonalds - can I go to Rosebud or Mornington for this? I am afraid not. All takeaway must be within 5km if you're picking it up. I am moving house within the next six weeks - can I still do this? Yes. You are still able to move house, but the curfew hours still apply. You should also take extra steps to stay safe including wearing a face covering. I want to exercise with my partner/wife/husband but I can't leave our three young kids at home - can they come too? Yes, if you can't leave children at home by themselves while exercising, you absolutely can and should take them with you. Just maintain social distancing while sharing footpaths and walking tracks with others. Where can I find answers to my business related questions? Please visit business.vic.gov.au or call 13 22 15. I'm struggling with my mental health, what should I do? Perhaps the most important question. Speak to a friend, call a family member. Support from Lifeline is available at 13 11 14 and you can access additional resources at beyondblue.org.au or headspace.org.au

11.01.2022 N E C K P A I N If you have soreness or stiffness in your neck, here are 3 tips you can try to reduce discomfort. 1. Take care when using your laptop and other devices. Having your neck bent forwards or turned to one side for extended periods of time places pressure on your neck. 2. Try to avoid sleeping on your stomach, as this can be taxing for your back and neck joints. 3. If you take a lot of calls at home or in the office, try using your headphones or loudspeaker instea...d of cradling the phone between your ear and shoulder. 07.01.2022 If your chair isn't providing the right back support, it can be difficult to maintain good posture throughout the day. The longer we sit, the harder it is for our back muscles to support the natural curve of our spine. As our body tires, we tend to compensate by leaning forward and slouching, which can cause unnecessary strain and discomfort. Using a lumbar roll helps to support your lower back and reinforce good posture.... We have plenty in stock, and we can give advice on fitting one to your chair. Ask your Physio about our lumbar rolls on your next visit.
