23.01.2022 Bent Over Barbell Row The bent over row, when done correctly, is a great exercise to engage and strengthen core, back, shoulder and legs together ! Before pulling the bar off the rack, make sure feet are under the bar, chest is forward, eyes are looking down at the floor and core is braced to reduce stresses on the lower back.... If you are having trouble with exercises like these, please consult one of our physiotherapists before proceeding to continue with your program. Thank you to our model Eric for an amazing performance ! #backinmotion #gym #rehab #gym #barbell #strong #form #physio #physiotherapists #mooneevalley #3039 #mooneeponds

23.01.2022 Shockwave therapy Have you ever been told you have tendon pain and that shockwave therapy may be the solution to your rehab? In a short explanation, Shockwave therapy is an acoustic wave carrying high energy to painful areas and tissues. This energy can promote regeneration and reparative processes of the bones, tendons or other soft tissues.... This is especially useful with tendon pain as it helps to create a window of opportunity where pain is reduced so your physiotherapist can build you a exercise program targeting tendon healing. If this is something you have been considering or if you feel this relates to your condition, call up and book in a free initial assessment with one of our Physio’s so they can give you the information you need to get Back in Motion Call (03) 9375 4131 #shockwavetherapy #shockwave #tendonpain #tendon #pain #painrelief #physiotherapy #physio #backinmotion #mooneeponds #mooneevalley #3039

21.01.2022 What are trigger points? A trigger point refers to a patch of tightly contracted muscles. They are generally highly irritable and cause pain around their location. Sometimes they can refer pain to other areas of the body. Trigger points usually occurs when muscle fibres are stretched beyond their normal capacity. They are often found in the muscles involved with maintaining our posture e.g the muscles in your neck, shoulder and back. ... It is important to get rid of trigger points as they affect the way muscles function by changing the way the muscle moves and they can cause muscle weakness. Trigger points are felt by physiotherapist as a bundle of muscle fibres that are harder in consistency compared to normal muscle and are usually painful when pressed on. Trigger points can be removed with manual soft tissue techniques or through methods such as DRY NEEDLING by your physiotherapist. In summary -trigger points are patches of tight wound muscle fibres -they can cause pain and muscle dysfunction -physiotherapist are well suited to the removal of trigger points Book an appointment today to get rid of those pesky trigger points!!! 10.01.2022 What is lumbar stenosis? Lumbar stenosis refers to the narrowing of the spinal canal (what surrounds our spinal cord) in the lumbar region of the spine. This presentation is referred to as a degenerative condition and typically affects people aged 60 and older. While this does sound quite scary it doesn’t necessarily mean you will have pain because of it! However it can definitely contribute and be a key factor as to why you may be experiencing back pain.... If you have been told that you have stenotic or degenerative changes in your lumber spine and are unsure what this means or what you can do to help this then book in with one of our Physio’s so they can assess the issue and create you a plan to move forward! #physio #backpain #back #stenosis #degenerativediscdisease #backinmotion #mooneevalley #mooneeponds #3039

09.01.2022 Disc Herniations Having a lumbar disc herniation does not mean you will have back pain forever. In fact, 97% of people who have disc herniations do not need surgery and have a complete return to normal functions with the help of conservative management (physiotherapy)! This was found in a study titled An assessment of non operative management strategies in a herniated lumbar disc population: success versus failures. This study was completed by Lilly et al (2020).... If you are dealing with back pain or a disc herniation, book in with one of our lovely Physio’s so they can assess the issue and create a plan to help you move forward! #physio #lowbackpain #discherniation #discpain #discbuldge #mooneevalley #3039 #backinmotion
