25.01.2022 Dean Newman-Physio Spotlight Dean is our practice director and has been working in a private practice since graduating from Curtin University in 1997. He joined the Back In Motion group in 2016 after 14 years of self employment, changed names from Fit to Live Physiotherapy and moved into our current premises after successfully outgrowing the premises of the previous 11 years. Dean firmly believes that treating injuries is a partnership between the physio and patient and that ...both must contribute to successfully manage the broad range of conditions that we see daily. Having attended a broad array of professional development courses over the past 20 years, Dean enjoys nothing more these days than passing on some of that knowledge through mentoring of the other physios at Back In Motion Seville Grove and schedules sessions with all staff members on a regular basis as well as leading a range of in house professional development that is run weekly. Deans sporting background covers a diverse range from triathlon in his younger years right through to bodybuilding more recently. He will happily watch just about any sport with a keen focus on understanding the demands that each sport places on the participant. When he isnt at work, Dean is most likely chasing his three young boys around on the weekends and watching them play sport.

25.01.2022 ? Sleep is an active period in which a lot of important processing, restoration, and strengthening occurs. ? While adults need 7-9 hours of sleep per night, one-year-olds need roughly 11 to 14 hours, school age children between 9 and 11, and teenagers between 8 and 10. is critical for everyone, since we all need to retain information and learn skills to thrive in life.... The best sleep habits are consistent, healthy routines that allow all of us, regardless of our age, to meet our sleep needs every night, and keep on top of life’s challenges every day. See more

23.01.2022 To celebrate the beginning of National Reconciliation Week, Back in Motion Seville Grove would like to take a moment to recognise the indigenous reconciliation journey over the past 50-60 years and help spread information surrounding the significance of this week. This special week runs from the 27th of May to the 3rd of June every year. These dates commemorate two significant milestones in the indigenous reconciliation journey. On May 27th, 1967, a national referendum was h...eld to change the legislation in favour of indigenous equality. On June 3rd, 1992, Eddie Mabo successfully challenged the Commonwealth of Australia in the high court to declare the Meriam people rightful owners of the Murray islands. This week allows for people to come together to not only share stories of culture but to also reflect on the hardship suffered by aboriginal people throughout history. Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

18.01.2022 R U Ok? Today is R U Ok day. Now more than ever, with this crazy year we have had, it’s important to check in with each other and support one another. This years R U Ok theme is that there’s more to say after R U Ok? If you feel like something’s not quite the same with someone you know there’s something going on in their life or you notice a change in what they’re saying or doing - trust that gut instinct and take the time to ask them Are you OK? If someone says they...’re not OK, make time to listen, encourage action and check in. That conversation could change, or even save, their life. You don’t have to be an expert to keep the conversation going when someone says they’re not OK. By knowing what to say you can help someone feel supported and access appropriate help long before they’re in crisis, which can make a really positive difference to their life. Go to ruok.org.au - they have a tonne of resources to help you, help someone else.

There are tips and tricks we use to help people correct their technique so let us know if you would like to see some of them.

02.01.2022 What comes to mind when you think of a ‘Health Plan’? Regular exercise, healthy eating and chatting to your doctor are all at the forefront - and you’re not wrong! All these things are very important in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, however remedial massage is often overlooked. We often associate massage with fancy retreats, scented candles and fluffy white bathrobes, sought out only on special occasions. However, remedial massage is quite different from the type you enjoy... on a relaxing weekend trip.
