07.01.2022 Keeping Up with the Cetaceans This isn't the whales' exact migration path, but it should give you a rough idea of where and when you can find them in Quee...nsland over the next few months. Make sure you let us know if you spot one in your travels!!! Humpback whales feed in the Antarctic during summer. Then, around March, they begin migrating north. They start showing up in Queensland waters from late April May to mate and give birth in our warm coastal waters. On the trip south, mothers and newborn calves hug the coast, resting and suckling in the calm waters of Hervey Bay before continuing their long journey south.
