23.01.2022 The sunshine was so bright that by the time I managed to be able to see most of the Kooweerup Uniting Church backpacks delivered minutes before had already disappeared into the container destined for PNG Highlands. You might note that they were arriving just in time.

18.01.2022 Recently Network published a plea for funds. MLG - dependent as we are on groups which were not able to meet because of the social-distancing requirement - had run out of funds. We have had many groups and individuals send funds. Can I express on behalf of the whole MLG community and the Pacific churches which receive containers of donated goods our overwhelming gratitude. We shall now be able to dispatch a container before year's end to the Highlands region of Papua New Guin...ea and another - perhaps in early February to Honiara, capital of Solomon Islands. We can also confidently move on to packing at least one and maybe two containers as we move on from those two. THANKS INDEED to all who have uplifted our spirits after an anxious year. And, by the way, the two containers meant to arrive in Tonga mid-2020 to be unpacked and distributed by the Connans should arrive in Nuku'alofa this weekend. Our very good friend, Lady Louena Tu'i'afitu, has agreed to take on what the Connans normally do. Malo 'aupito. Louena! See more

11.01.2022 CLOSURE FOR CHRISTMAS - NEW YEAR. MLG will be closing down for the Christmas-Mew year break next Thursday, December 17, and will re-open on Tuesday, January 12. If you have goods to donate, PLEASE do NOT leave anything during that time. If you have money to donate, please note the ways you can give, either by bank transfer or by cheque. So, please have a great Christmas and a happy New year after we've all survived an epic period here in Victoria.

10.01.2022 GOOD NEWS! At long last I can say with total confidence that the "flash mob" to pack the cyclone relief for Fiji will definitely be on Saturday, January 16th, from 8 .a.m. to 1 p.m. (The container is now set to arrive on Monday, January 11th.) If you have goods or funds to donate, MLG volunteers will be at 176 Chapel Road, Keysborough South, on both Tuesday 12th and Thursday 14yh between 8 and 10.30 a.m. If you are coming for the "flash mob" to donate goods, pack the goods ve...ry tightly into boxes. If you have household goods, especially breakables, pack them in clothing or linen. (Paper as packing material is NOT acceptable.) If on the other hand packing your goods beforehand isn't possible for you, you may be able to help pack them at 'the Shed.' Volunteers to pack the container itself will also be welcome. Cyclone Yasa with its winds up to 350 kph has destroyed houses, blown goods away, and destroyed crops. wind-born salt spray will have killed all ground crops. The ferocity of the storm will have blasted the coconut palms, uprooted breadfruit trees and stripped banana palms and fruit trees. This mean non-perishable goods of all sorts are needed. Sacks of rice. Canned goods. Pasta, Household cleaning products. Toiletries. If you are coming to help on our "flash mob" day, please let us know, so we can provide morning tea., whether as individuals or groups. (0419572936; 97812636; [email protected]) If you'd like to donate before the flash mob" day, I can give you bank details for a direct transfer. Looking forward to meeting up with people who have already been in contact! See more

09.01.2022 Shepparton Uniting Church UCAF recently sent through a family member a number of boxes of backpacks and backpack contents. Thank you indeed! The KUCA club at the Village Church, Mount Eliza, will have great fun filling the backpacks early next year. The kids are so competitive!
