23.01.2022 Hi BtBT friends! I thought I would pop in with the new year and let you know about our new page. If you are interested in following our Home School journey, you can find Indi and I here: https://edukatetion.me/about/... There is only an 'About' page (which explains a little about our decision), and two blog posts for now, however, we will continue to add to them as we begin our new adventure into homeschool. We would love for you to drop a comment on any of our ramblings to let us know you are there! Kate and Indi xx
23.01.2022 As if comprehending some articles isnt hard enough already, what about when your brain has to translate between languages?!
23.01.2022 What a superb Saturday session we just had. I didnt get a photo because we were just far too busy, but we had 5 students in, the wonderful Chevy came in to help out with coaching, Hilda was here participating in Zoom SSP training with Miss Emma in the background...and there were lots of smiles and learning from everyone. Indi loved sneaking a quick hello to Miss Emma and is reinspired to do some more reading on her page, and I finished with a session with Super Sam and playing on the new SSP app! 21.01.2022 Indi and I just watched the Daniel Morcombe Foundation live stream about online safety. I highly recommend you head over and watch it with your child. Indi is Grade 4 (grade 5 for our NZ peeps) and it was spot on for her. It added value to the discussions we have at home around online safety and it was excellent for her to hear these messages from people other than her parents! We discussed in depth about not taking photos on apps that might be inappropriate and I was surp...rised to hear that she had heard about people sending nudes. Even with all our open dialogue at home, its impossible to be across everything. Knowing she understands what and HOW to keep herself safe in an online world, is so vital. For my teacher friends, there is a wealth of teaching resources and lessons to go with the video, aimed at ages 8 to 12 years. https://youtu.be/Y12W8-hoEXI

20.01.2022 Our Brag Wall for week 9. One week to go!
19.01.2022 Our Brag Wall for the week ending 2 AUGUST (yep, August ). Well do our absolute upmost to stay open for face-to-face tuition as this is best for all of us, but we will roll with the days and what they deliver. We really appreciate those who called last week to reschedule due to signs of colds (sniffles and snuffles), and know plenty who have lined up for testing; were proud of the community we are part of and will make sure we help your kids feel the normality of learning in these peculiar times!
16.01.2022 Heres a harder one for you. How many speech sounds in the word, chair? Check out Master S; he knew, and then we checked our clouds for the right representation. Didnt he do well! Speech Sound Pics Approach - SSP

13.01.2022 This is a really wonderful resource and I urge you to download or email LCC for a hard copy of the journal, Wonderful Me, for your children. *** *** *** Sometimes, it can be challenging to have meaningful conversations with our children around mental health Below are some ideas for conversation starters for children to talk about their mental health.... This parent/caregiver companion guide was developed alongside a bright and vibrant 54 page book called "Wonderful Me", which helps children explore more about themselves, their futures and lets them be in charge of their own journey For more information or for your FREE copy, visit logan.qld.gov.au/wonderful See more
13.01.2022 Some beautiful flowers from one of my ‘kids’ and her family. For 8 years I’ve had the privilege of knowing them and guiding her in her learning journey. I’ve watched her grow from a little girl into a young woman who will take on her world. So often we only see students for a very brief period of time; occasionally we have the honour of watching them grow through the years. My eyes may have leaked
13.01.2022 Our Brag Wall for the week ending 23/08/20 Indi found the yellow pen; we may have to hide it again

03.01.2022 Last night I took a stroll down memory lane by scrolling through our Facebook photos. Did you know that Indi wasn't yet born when I started BtBT? She's gone from a babe-in-arms (or a baby pulling books off our shelf) to a young girl who eagerly helps our little students with their reading. I looked at many of the faces of the children we have worked with over the years. Lots of them are young adults now! It has been a privilege to be part of such a wonderful community over th...e last ten years and to have played a role in building our children to be the best versions of themselves. Now it is time for me to take a step back and focus on my own family. Today is our last day with students. I still remember puppy Ruby eating a hole in the wall while we were transforming this room into our Learning Studio. I remember Tony helping me source the carpet. I remember taking a loan from my parents to afford the initial set up. I remember Nick wiring everything up. I remember my husband's complete belief in me that I could run a business when I thought I was 'just a teacher'. I remember multiple fixes of the screen door netting as students and animals tried to run through it! I remember the tears of each student who came in feeling 'less than', and the tears of relief from parents when they learnt that we COULD and WOULD help, and I remember the joy of each student as they began to believe in themselves. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey with us. The last ten years haven't just transformed the students who have come through our doors, they have also transformed me. And that is what learning does.
03.01.2022 PIZZA SCROLLS!!! Yesterday he was telling us how he made delicious pizza scrolls. We may have told him that we too would enjoy delicious pizza scrolls.... Happiness is students making us food treats Thank you Master S!
02.01.2022 A bit of cheeky fun with Master S today!
01.01.2022 {PUBERTY} I watched this Operation Ouch episode about puberty with Indi yesterday. It was well presented, informative (science, yay!) and not an overload of information. Were pretty open with discussions so she already knows about how babies are made, the proper name for body parts, what a period is etc, but this was still great for explaining some of the things we hadnt yet covered (even just hygiene and what to expect as puberty begins).... For those with children on the cusp of puberty, it is a good place to start. Id recommend it for 8-10year olds, everything was age appropriate (it mentioned sperm and eggs as the building blocks for making a baby but didnt go into the how). It was mostly focused on things like hygiene and general body changes (growth, voice, pimples, hair etc). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FCONLC8E4zQ
01.01.2022 Better late than never... here is our Brag Wall for the week ending 26/07/20
01.01.2022 Highly recommend you attend this Zoom session if you are interested in understanding the best approach to helping your child with spelling.
01.01.2022 Another week where I am impressed by how hard our students work toward their learning goals! Our Brag Wall for the week ending 16/08/20
