22.01.2022 Let’s think about food waste this #WorldFoodDay. Victorian households throw out 250,000 tonnes of edible food every year, enough to fill the Eureka Tower! All Victorian councils are moving towards providing food waste recycling by 2030 under #RecyclingVictoria, in the meantime, there’s plenty we can do to make sure we’re wasting as little food as possible from meal planning, to thoughtful storage and home composting. We have tips on home food waste reduction and a map of where compost made from household food waste is already being put to good use: https://backtoearth.vic.gov.au.

13.01.2022 The food waste you put in your green bin is composted and ends up on farms that grow our food. Keep these items out of your green binrecycle or dispose of them elsewhere: coffee pods and teabags food packaging plastic bags plastic wrap... https://backtoearth.vic.gov.au/do-s-dont-s.html
03.01.2022 Food For Change has expanded their urban farm in Melbourne’s south using compost made from household food and green waste . Two truck loads of compost, generously donated by Sacyr, will help their summer crops grow. Their rhubarb, kohl rabi and cucumbers are flourishing . You can help farms and gardens, like Food for Change, grow by knowing what to put in your green bin: https://backtoearth.vic.gov.au/do-s-dont-s.html
