21.01.2022 Drying a tray of magnolia petals today to see how they go in a tea. . I’m looking forward to exploring and learning about this plant more this spring. Planning on making some salts and vinegars, it certainly has a beautiful flavour fresh. . .... . #herbs #communitysupportedherbalism #communitysupportedagricilture #herbalife #herbivore #herbalmedicine #yarravalleylife #yarravalleybusiness #herbalistswithoutborders #wellbeing #yarravalleycsh #localmedicineforlocalpeople #yarravalley #healthandwellbeing #earthlovers #melbournemakers #earthlovers #communityresilience #melbourneforagers #foraging #localweeds #plantmedicine See more
18.01.2022 Milling you grains to make our bread today. This is my gf sourdough loaf which is very loved by my whole family and many friends. Made with Millet, oats, brown rice, psyllium and salt. The brown bits you can see are actually dock seeds which I like to use in small amounts in baking. They are rich in iron and our most abundant and easy to forage grain in the valley. . . .... #sourdough #bread #baking #healthylifestyle #healthyfood #healthyfood #forage See more
18.01.2022 Starting mine and Brigid’s community supported herbalism business has been so healing for me. I have been reflecting on how undervalued I have felt creating nutritious meals and herbal medicines for myself and my family, it was something I worked so hard at for so many years and now looking back on it nothing ever feels that hard. Juggling babies in carriers, staying up late baking gluten free bread, picking, drying, growing, making, and really creating. Studying hard....a h...ealth science degree hoping this might give what I do some value. A lot of these tasks were done on limited sleep and not enough support, due to the way society sets up our family’s. Despite this I kept going. I kept going because I valued it and I love it. I actually can’t believe it now when I think back to that time and look at myself now. I’m beginning to earn an income doing what I love. I get to give permaculture garden advice to my gardening clients, I get the privalage to sit with clients in my herbal consultations, listening to their intricate life stories and supporting them with their health choices. I get to mix up concoctions for them. But what I love most and find most fulfilling is mine and Brigid’s @yarravalley.csh venture. Each person that learns a new skill from us, identifys a plant, takes greater care of themselves or a loved one is the most fulfilling thing I I could experience. I feel so overwhelmingly valued by all who support me. By my community, family, loved ones and customers! I thank you for your kind emails of what remedies have helped what you appreciate infact sometimes I can’t believe I am reading them! Our dinner tonight is very simple, sweet potato and carrot chips roasted in @yarravalley.csh infused pine needles in hempseed oil and citrus salt. Gratitude to you all . . . #herbs #communitysupportedherbalism #communitysupportedagricilture #herbalife #herbivore #herbalmedicine #yarravalleylife #yarravalleybusiness #herbalistswithoutborders #wellbeing #yarravalleycsh #localmedicineforlocalpeople #yarravalley #healthandwellbeing #earthlovers #melbournemakers #earthlovers #communityresilience #melbourneforagers #foraging #localweeds #plantmedicin
17.01.2022 It’s been a year now since we adopted nelly. A totally traumatised puppy...it has been such a rewarding journey watching her grow. . Today both Nadia and Angus said their favourite part of the day was running around the oval with her. . Thank you nelly for a fun crazy year with you, that has at times driven me totally crazy, but most of the time brought us so much love, playfulness and joy
16.01.2022 I spent today with my hands in the earth, the sun on my skin, trusting in the land and all that surrounds me. . I’m practicing being in the moment more and more. . After so many years of living for the future and planning ahead only to lose so much. I have learnt to step forward in a different way.... . I now step more slowly, trying to not think about what this step means for the coming weeks, months or years. . I’m slowly learning to trust that each step it worth it, whether things end up where you think or not. . This is a new gentle beginning for me, but I am enjoying noticing when my pace quickens, enjoying the enquiry of what this might mean. . I feel ready for the spring to bring this forth in me more and more. See more

14.01.2022 Making sage tincture for those of my clients who struggle with hot flushes and sweating through menopause. For the dearest mummas who loose their precious babies and need to stop milk flow. And for all the horrible throat infections and inflamed gums.... I have been waiting patiently for my sage plant to be in her prime moment, purple flowers and vibrant green leaves. The bees humming all over her, who I did apologise too whilst harvesting her. But I do use the flowers. Yes they may not be ‘scientifically’ studied for their constituents but this is not pharmacology I practice it’s herbal medicine, people’s medicine. I love to work with the whole plant respectfully and lovingly. Loving you sage for all your healing you have given me and those I care for. I thank you personally for giving me courage and awakening my throat and vocal cords to speak my truth. . . . #herbs #communitysupportedherbalism #communitysupportedagricilture #herbalife #herbivore #herbalmedicine #yarravalleylife #yarravalleybusiness #herbalistswithoutborders #wellbeing #yarravalleycsh #localmedicineforlocalpeople #yarravalley #healthandwellbeing #earthlovers #melbournemakers #earthlovers #communityresilience #melbourneforagers #foraging #localweeds #plantmedicine

10.01.2022 Pruned the Waratah tree today with my amazing sister who is such a knowledgeable gardener @julinkas_garden I had so much fun in the sun today with her pottering around. Thanks for your help auntie!... I will greatly miss having these amazing flowers filling my home
10.01.2022 Today was one of those deeply satisfying days when you get a good work day in whilst juggling kids, made wine, baked a cake, picked flowers for the house and had dinner by the outside fire. Thank you @nourishing_hearts for your recipe we loved it! We put oat flour and millet flour instead of semolina, plain and polenta and 4 eggs instead of 3 and had to put a splash of milk because we didn’t have enough yogurt left. We also put quite a large amount of thyme but we thought we... couldn’t taste it much and I think I will make a thyme infused olive oil next time to put in there for extra thyme flavour . . . #healthybaking #cake #baking #healthyfood #herbalcooking #herbalcook See more

Hope your all enjoying the sunshine
09.01.2022 Harvested some oat straw in the last of the dry weather. 06.01.2022 Life in isolation with pretty intense cabin fever now after quite a few days of rain. Sending some fun, giggles and wrestled to those of you who need it.
06.01.2022 Our new favourite buckwheat crepe topping is homegrown tamarillos mixed with Greek yogurt and maple syrup! Yummm . Tamarillos are a great source o vitamins A, C, E and K . If your liver or pancreas are under stress they are a great support.... . But the best thing about them is that there’s nothing much else around fruit wise other then citrus, so they are a super treat . . . #eatseasonal #eatlocal #nutrition #healthylifestyle #healthyfood #foodie See more
06.01.2022 Our very persistent mother hatched her babies a couple of weeks ago. Angus and Nadia did everything to take care of her and made sure she always had food and water. They sold 3 of her babies and are selling eggs outside our home in hope of saving to go to fun fields when restrictions lift. Their savings jar on the fridge already has a bit in it and Nadia collected more eggs today and thoroughly cleaned them and put the out the front.... Love my little animal lovers and entrepreneurs. It looks like there will be goslings soon too because our geese are sitting although I don’t know how the kids would manage to steal them from their parents! We will see how much they want the money

04.01.2022 Such a satisfying day at work yesterday getting this netting up for a clients food forest. This edible space is going to provide this family enough berries for the year if they freeze consistently through the summer months. It also has a avocado tree, plum tree, fig tree and currents, guavas and blueberries.... Thanks so much @leonie.reeves.callaway.hibbert for letting me be a part of creating this space :) . . . #permaculture #gardening #permaculturegarden #permaculturedesign #permaculturelife #berries #nettedenclosure #foodismedicine

01.01.2022 My new adaptation from slippery elm balls which are much loved by my family. Lately my kids have been saying their tummy’s are sore, it’s not all the time and they certainly aren’t sick but occasionally it comes up in conversation . Children often feel a lot in their tummy’s, a lot of emotions different things they are digesting. Sometimes it’s just a lack of water or needing to go to the toilet. .... Theses balls are like little lollies which nurture the intestinal walls by making them all slippery. . They are great for constipation, loose stools, and tummy aches. . All you do is mix slippery elm powder with honey until you get a dough consistency. Roll into balls the size of hazelnuts and cover with a bit more powder to stop them from sticking. . The best way to take them is to hold them in your mouth for as long as possible and eat throughout the day so the slippery elm is slowly realised through your digestive system. I always get my kids to drink a glass of water before to keep them well hydrated. . You can customise your balls to suit what you are needing at the time. . These have equal parts slippery elm powder, ashwaghanda powder, Marshmellow powder and pro biotic powder I have had sitting in the fridge for a while. They we’re put together with a little bit of honey but mainly @weavingthedreaming violet flower syrup she made using the violets from down the road her daughter picked. . . . #herbs #communitysupportedherbalism #communitysupportedagricilture #herbalife #herbivore #herbalmedicine #yarravalleylife #yarravalleybusiness #herbalistswithoutborders #wellbeing #yarravalleycsh #localmedicineforlocalpeople #yarravalley #healthandwellbeing #earthlovers #melbournemakers #earthlovers #communityresilience #melbourneforagers #foraging #localweeds #plantmedicine
