14.01.2022 Today we spent a pleasant morning working on expanding our aquaponics system. While the fish farmer worked on plumbing in new grow beds, the fish wife spent her morning washing several loads of rock to fill the beds. Fish wife observed that this lovely rock would provide just the right material for a new kitchen bench top, with a range of beautiful colours in it. Fish farmer was not persuaded.

12.01.2022 Happy New Year to the friends and followers of Backwater Native Fish Farm. It may have seemed that 2019 was a quiet year with not much going on but there has been a lot of activity behind the scenes. Our aquaponic system is up and running with the water from the fish tanks being filtered through gravel beds where we are growing a variety of vegetables and herbs. We have already been enjoying fresh home grown lettuces in our salads this summer. The BIG news for 2020 is that we will have a number of Murray Cod fingerlings available for sale in the next week or two. They will be 1-2g in size and ready to go into farm dams or ponds. Please get in touch now to let us know if you would like to purchase some, to confirm numbers and transport/collection arrangements.

12.01.2022 Hello to the friends and followers of Backwater Native Fish Farm. You may have been thinking things have been a little quiet on the fish farm front. It is true that we have decided to postpone the spawning until spring this year in order to make sure everything is set up to provide optimum conditions. So we have been concentrating on improving the water quality in our fish tanks by setting up an aquaponics system. We have two grow beds in use already with strawberries and zucchini flowering away.

10.01.2022 Hello friends of Backwater Native Fish Farm. Sorry it has been a while since our last post. We may have been quiet on the internet, but things have been busy here on the farm. We have been working very hard to prepare for the breeding season and we are hoping to have some Murray Cod fingerlings this year. Please contact us now to register your interest if you are after fingerlings for your own dam or pond.

10.01.2022 Happy New Year to all the friends and followers of Backwater Native Fish Farm! It may seem like we were on a break over Christmas and New Year but in fact there has been much work going on. We are in the process of setting up an aquaponic system to help filter the water in the fish tanks. So far we have two tubs/trays set up and have planted a batch of strawberry plants. Stay tuned to hear how that turns out.
