21.01.2022 Damian Jenkins who worked as an editor on 'The Merger' was also compiling material for, and directed 'The Making of The Merger.' You can check out more of his work at Next In Line Films. You've done a great job Damo. #themergermovie #cityofwagga #nexinlinefilms
21.01.2022 John Howard’s character, Bull, in the film The Merger... is exactly the person Amnesty seek out on a daily basis. Essentially good folk, who have it in them to reimagine their community, including their new neighbours. It’s refugee week and you’re looking for a low bar activity that you can do... How about hosting a screening of #TheMergerFilm? If #MyNewNeighbour was a film, this would be it.... Check out how to screen a film here: https://www.amnesty.org.au/how-to-host-a-local-screening-o/
20.01.2022 We've just been informed by owner/agent Becs, that sadly the superstar dog Tiernan, who played Macdougall in 'Backyard Ashes,' has recently passed away. His fine innings of 16 yrs & 8 months has come to end. His arthritis pain got too much and he was having a lot of trouble getting around to slobber all over retrieved tennis balls. Becs said that 'I still loved seeing people's reactions when I told them he was the dog in 'Backyard Ashes.' Farewell old mate.
20.01.2022 Go check out this documentary in Wagga this Saturday Sept 7th at 4pm! Be sure to stay for a Q&A with the director too!

13.01.2022 Thanks to the Psychosocial Innovation Network, 'The Merger' is currently being played to secondary school students in Serbia. We'd also like to thank the Australian Embassy in Belgrade for making this wonderful connection after Damian Callinan was brought there as guest for a screening back in March.
13.01.2022 The Producer of Backyard Ashes & The Merger, Anne Anne Houston is volunteering and helping Walkabout Wildlife Park just outside of Sydney evacuate over 200 animals this week. The fires are now only km's away and we hope you might share this and support them. They are non for profit and take in many rescue animals.. Please support them. Thanks Anne Walkabout owner Tassin: Many have been asking how they can support us. In between evacuating animals and preparing our park, we've set up this go fund me page, that allows you to donate, if you like. There are so many expenses, and right now we are closed to visitors, which is our only source of income. If you can't donate, that is fine too. It would be amazing if you could please share this post as much as you can. Thank you so much for all the help we've received so far.
13.01.2022 In case you are sitting down to a January 26 session of Backyard Ashes on NETFLIX, we thought we'd remind you of the legends who somehow made a classic film on the smell of an oily rag. Well played Mark Grentell, Peter Cox & Anne Robinson.
12.01.2022 Hey guys, if you're keen to see a great doco from some friends of ours that is doing good things at the moment go check out this one at Forum 6 Wagga on Sept 7th at 4pm and chat to the director afterwards.
12.01.2022 They just cant get the bugger out ... After 7 years at the crease, avoiding the 6 & out boundary, favouring the leg side to avoid being caught in the 'Boony Bush' & dominating the wilting attack of nana & the little kid from next door, 'Backyard Ashes is now up & streaming on NETFLIX Australia/NZ. Just quietly, it's building a handy innings. So if you haven't seen it for awhile or never got around to looking over the back fence last night, get onto it. #netflixmovies #AustralianMovies #backyardashes
12.01.2022 This is such a brilliant initiative. Expat Australians in Canada using that countries brilliant sponsorship policy to home refugees from Manus & Nauru. Ads-Up [Australian Diaspora Steps Up] is one of the organisations doing this great work. Stay tuned in the coming weeks for announcements about fund raising screenings of the Merger organised by Ads-Up in USA, Canada & Australia. These will be happening in cinemas and plans are afoot to share links for home hosted party screenings.

09.01.2022 One of the artists who composed music for "The Merger' soundtrack is Kurdish refugee, Farhad Bandesh. After 7 years on Manus Island, he was brought to the Mantra Hotel in Melbourne under Medevac 8 months ago. In recent weeks, Farhad has been leading peaceful protests & recently appeared on The Project & Q&A. The day after his Q&A appearance, he was forcibly removed without his phone or possessions & taken to MITA Detention Prison in Broadmeadows. This was an act of retributio...n. Here is a way you can support him. Bandcamp are waiving all fees from sales of 'The Merger' soundtrack & all other music this on Friday May 1st, so all proceeds go the artists. If you like, you can just support Farhad & purchase Track 6 - Sayyid's Lament. #gameover #setthemfree #isolatewithrefugees #themergermovie https://wantokmusik.bandcamp.com//the-merger-original-soun

02.01.2022 PIN [Psychosocial innovation Network] are a non government funded research and support organisation based in Belgrade, Serbia. They are dedicated to enhancing psychosocial well-being and quality of life of individuals from vulnerable and marginalized groups through evidence-based practices. Much of their work is aimed at easing the psychological burdens of forced migration groups. They have been playing 'The Merger' to school groups in Serbia over the past month. It is so heartening to hear of this kind of work being done by dedicated health professionals throughout the world. Here are some pictures from a recent screening in Boseligrad, Serbia. In the words of Dunja Bozovic, PIN Project Manager, 'They were more than successful!'
01.01.2022 Get behind this Wagga. Deserves support.
01.01.2022 We have been posting lately about screenings of 'The Merger' across Serbia organised by PIN [Pyschsocial Initiative Network.] For those wondering how this seemingly random connection was made, Damian Callinan was a guest of the Australian Embassy in Serbia, North Macedonia & Montenegro in March this year who hosted a screening at Yugoslevenska Kinoteka in Belgrade. Here is a compiled piece on his visit that appeared on SBS Serbia. https://www.sbs.com.au//engli/audio/the-merger-in-belgrade
