23.01.2022 Entries are now open for Overland's enormous annual short story and poetry competitions! Entries close for both competitions on November 16, so now's the time t...o polish up that poem or short story. The Neilma Sidney Short Story Prize seeks excellent short fiction of up to 3000 words themed around the notion of ‘travel’; imaginative, creative and literary interpretations are strongly encouraged. This competition is open to all writers, nationally and internationally, at any stage of their writing career. The winning story will receive a $5000 first prize and be published in Overland’s first print issue for 2021. Two runners-up will each receive $750 and be published at Overland online to coincide with the release of the first print issue for 2021. The Overland Judith Wright Poetry Prize for New and Emerging Poets seeks outstanding poetry by writers who have published no more than one collection of poems under their own name (i.e. writers who’ve had zero collections published, or one solo collection published). It remains one of the richest prizes for emerging poets, and is open to poets anywhere in the world. The major prize is $6000, with a second prize of $2000 and a third prize of $1000. 21.01.2022 Wonderful author Georgie Brooks - author was at the Two Wells Bowling Club, a great day was had by all accounts. Bad apple 1 and I are just a bit sorry we missed out on the famous cream horns... we do love a baked good! Thanks to the wonderful staff at the Adelaide Plains Library for organising this event for the community. Meg's Bookshop still has come copies of Georgie's book so don't forget to pop in and grab your copy if you missed out..
