25.01.2022 While this article is written by a Jet Provider, the principles apply to Recreational Pilots just as much, some, even more so. https://www.apstraining.com//10-reasons-to-get-upset-prev/

25.01.2022 Come and meet the Strike Aviation Training team at the Expo and discuss your aviation goals. We are Silver Sponsors of this years event providing Pilot training from Recreational Pilot Certificate and most endorsements as well as advanced General Aviation Training including Formation Flying, Aerobatics, Tailwheel Design Features and Upset Prevention and Recovery Training (UPRT).

24.01.2022 To all in the Aviation Industry. We have started a gofundme page for Mark Smiths family. Please visit https://www.gofundme.com/f/rip-mark-smith Also, if you have an aviation related Facebook page or other avenues to spread the work please do so. Please dig deep to help the family of the man who has helped so many.

24.01.2022 A little something about MTOW. Know your aircraft BEW and calculate it's useful load. Moreover, Take-Off and Landing performance is a real thing. https://www.aviationsafetymagazine.com//real-world-takeo/

22.01.2022 Gidday everyone. Sorry things have been a bit quiet lately. JIR refurb has taken a back seat for a while as other aircraft have had a higher priority but all that is pretty much over now. JIR is back on the radar and as soon as she is done we are stepping up the UPRT so that we can help save lives from LOCi accidents. Pictured below are some of the flight controls. Fly safe and manage your AoA.

21.01.2022 Be the best pilot you can be. We want to help you.

21.01.2022 JIR grew some wings today. Not long now.

20.01.2022 Some good tips and relevant thoughts for everyone.

18.01.2022 It would appear that if the pilot had undertaken basic UPRTraining then it is probable that 2 lives would have been saved that day.

17.01.2022 Stay current in all phases of your flying. Join us for a "refreshing" weekend. Keep an eye out for the dates.

15.01.2022 It was such a beautiful days flying and it had the promise of another fantastic sunset. Lets do a Formation someone said. Why the hell not. Enjoy.

13.01.2022 The latest from JIR Refurbishment.

12.01.2022 Some of our team in the background of the recent Aviation Expo in Brisbane.

10.01.2022 Sorry we have been a bit quiet lately but we have been busy giving JIR a bit of a spruce up. Engine OH and a rebag doesnt happen overnight and isnt cheap BUT we are investing in our equipment because Upset Prevention & Recovery Training is very important. Efficient equipment is needed to demonstrate and teach effective piloting skills. #AmericanChampionaircraft #uprt #flyingsigns #badattitudeflighttraining

10.01.2022 Congrats to Shane who today completed his Spinning and Aerobatics Flight Activity Endorsement over the last few days. Shane purchased BWR last year and it was... great to have her back at Caboolture for a little while. It was also pretty cool to use our BWR briefing stick during the training. Merry Christmas Shane and family. Fly safe and have fun. See more

09.01.2022 This exercise is part of our basic UPRT Course and also part of Advanced Stalling during training with Strike Aviation Training in both RAAus and GA aircraft. Come along, make a booking and get more comfortable with your flying, Improve you skill and increase safety.

09.01.2022 There has been great advances in the understanding of how an aircraft remains in the air and also how pilots can get themselves in trouble. LOC (Loss of Control) started well before that first flight in Kittyhawk and over 100 years on and above all other reasons, it remains the biggest killer of aviators. Despite our continued accumulation of knowledge, our initial flight training syllabus remains stagnant and archaic. If you looked at a pilot who trained in the 1970s ...and one who is training today, you will find that the content and the quality of the training has diminished. Couple this with the increasing cost of aviation and we have only ourselves to blame for the continued loss of pilot skills. I hear it from many pilots - "Why should I spend the money on UPRT? It doesnt get me a signature in my logbook so why should I bother?" I reply; Well, if saving your life and the life of your passengers, saving the total loss or reducing unnecessary damage to your aircraft or at the very least, becoming a better, safe, more competent pilot is not what you want to do, then dont do the training. Yes it is expensive but the consequences of a LOC event can be far more than the monetary loss.

09.01.2022 UPRT is NOT aerobatics. Want to get out of the 11%? Dont know what the 11% is?. Message us to find out and join us to become a better pilot.

08.01.2022 A very big congratulations to Amelia Seymour who completed her Upset Prevention and Recovery Training yesterday. Amelia, who is a Grade 3 instructor, travelled from Tasmania to undertake training with us while visiting family in the area. Amelias skill and outstanding attitude towards understanding how to manage an aeroplane upset is commendable. The training course was over 2 full days and around 4hrs of dual flying where Amelia refreshed basic aerodynamics and learnt sce...nario based problems facing everyday pilots and flight instructors. Enhancing her understanding of stalls and Angle of Attack, along with #noinstrumentsflying Ameilia, armed with this knowledge, was exposed almost every conceivable attitude and power setting becoming competent in the skills required to safely recover, keeping herself and her passengers safe with the bonus of getting to use the aircraft again. Stay tuned for a highlights video of some of her training. Well done Amelia. See more

07.01.2022 Strike Aviation is pleased to provide General Aviation Flight Training for RPL and PPL Licenses in our Cessna 172M aircraft VH-WXX. Now you can commence your aviation journey in either RAAus or GA. Transition from RAAus to GA seamlessly.

06.01.2022 Thanks to all who emailed, messaged and called following the UPRT Talk with RAAus on Wednesday night.

06.01.2022 Great video from our friends at Inverted Concepts. Stay tuned for more videos from many sources to help reduce LOCi (Loss of Control - Inflight)

05.01.2022 Great article in the May 2020 issue of EAAs Sport Aviation magazine on "So, You Think You Can Make a 180 Turnback" by Charlie Precourt, former NASA chief astro...naut, Air Force test pilot, GA homebuilder etc. A couple of images from the article here. One shows the statistics of turnbacks in accidents - just turnbacks. 50% of them stalled. Of those that stalled, 70% were fatal. Of those that didnt stall only 4% were fatal. So, dont stall! Do the maths yourself. The other part of the argument is can you do it? The second image is from someone who did the research and showed that his airplane could not do it. He knew that he was going to pull the throttle back so no allowance for the "startle effect." The Feasibility of Turnback from a Low Altitude Engine Failure During the Takeoff Climb-out Phase by Brent Jett, United States Naval Academy Aerospace Engineering Department, AIAA-82-0406 is very interesting. You can access it from here http://www.nar-associates.com/technic/technical_flying.html It is based on a single engine GA aircraft simulator. The 20 pilots did not know they were going to have the engine failed at 500 ft for them - on their first flight exercise anyway. 3 decided to turn back, 2 resulted in stall/spin so wouldve been fatal in real life. 17 decided to land straight ahead and all were successful. Unlike real life they were given a second attempt so they knew exactly what was going to happen and when it was going to happen. The two who failed the first flight decided to land straight ahead this time - all who landed straight ahead were successful. Two turned back - one of the pilots who landed straight ahead the first time decided to turn back - guess what? Unsuccessful! There were other exercises and, of course, they knew what was going to happen and now they had more practice. The more they practiced the greater the percentage of success. In real life you dont get to practice the real emergency.

02.01.2022 A great turn out for the UPRT Seminar. All in attendance were safety oriented and keen to learn about the next stage of their flying. 100hrs or 10,000hrs, we had the spread from student RAAus pilots through to 787 Captain. Everyone participated and we had a great morning. More sessions to come so stay tuned and fly safe.
