25.01.2022 With Covid cases ramping up over the past few weeks some facilities have made masks mandatory. After training a few patients in masks and hearing their thoughts I checked with what the research has to say. Does it effect your ability to exercise? 15.01.2022 Why BaileyStrength? Started out with this picture in 2011. I was early on in a personal training career across numerous Studio’s, CrossFit facilities and outdoor fitness ventures. Loved what they were doing, but not one model would fit all Outdoor classes would lack resistance, indoor classes would lack structure / progression, personal training was on the fly and athlete development was stand-alone sessions lacking periodisation. ... I have been fortunate enough to work in high performance sport, every fitness model you can list (F45, CrossFit, Studio’s, TRX, Kettlebells, Air Locker), have advanced education and some awesome mentors/teams to bring it all together and provide what I see as an exceptional level of service for everyday people and aspiring athletes. Reach out, get into some quality training, have some decent banter and enjoy the process. Ryan
13.01.2022 Hang Power Clean V Trap Bar Jump Side bet @blake.lawrie V @jackoford Pro’s... Hang Power Clean - simplified version of the clean / power clean which can be taught to athletes relatively easy. Top-down approach allowing athletes to set up at the top maintaining tension before lower into a familiar start position (RDL). Must produce adequate force to complete the exercise, inadequate amount of force results in a missed lift. Trains athlete to absorb large eccentric forces through good mechanics as they catch the bar in an athletic 1/4 squat position. Requires correct coordination and summation of force. Trap Bar Jump Super easy to learn and coach. Allows quick progression due to lack of skill component / catch. Can be used for injured athletes or athletes who haven’t been taught to Olympic lift. Creates a more vertical torso position reducing lower back loading. Can perform with minimal weight without effecting movement quality while loading a different aspect of the force velocity curve. Can perform from various heights. Con’s Hang Power Clean can waste time learning the exercise (missing out on quality training). Not suited for athletes suffering wrist issues / front rack mobility restrictions. Large skill component effects ability to plug and play across intensities. Technique errors lead to poor triple extension stimulus. Trap Bar Jump No quality eccentric absorption phase. Require tech to determine if lift is complete. Static start can result in inadequate tension for a velocity exercise. Both belong in performance programs, pathways systems and individuals programs to improve power output (move load quickly with quality). Blake 1 0 Ford
04.01.2022 Practice what you preach gets thrown around a lot in S&C land and falls into the category What you preach should be specific to the individual, their sport, their annual plan and based off research, experience and understanding of anatomy / physiology. What I practice is completely different - surf as much as possible, enjoy beers with mates and be a good person.... Practicing NRL and chasing 1Rm’s didn’t get me buy in from top level athletes, being a good person and chatting about your favourite craft beer did - they are people too. Preach best practice, build rapport and train the way you want or go surf
