25.01.2022 This morning as part of one of our weekly Zoom catch ups, we were privileged to have a special guest, Mik Lawrence, join us. Mik is associated with the Gippsland Woodcraft Group, is heavily involved with the Pens for the Troops (P4TT) and is an accomplished woodcraft resin worker. We initially invited Mik to join us to talk about resins as some of our members were having problems with the time taken for the resin to set. Mik was able to off some sage advice in this area and t...hen went on to talk about the work hes involved in for the Pens for the Troops movement. Below are are Facebook links to the Pens for the Troops page and also to Miks own page. They are both well worth looking at. Cheers Carol https://www.facebook.com/search/top/ https://www.facebook.com/PensbyMIK/?epa=SEARCH_BOX https://www.facebook.com/search/top/

22.01.2022 Today is the first Anniversary of our much loved friend and co-wood worker, Arthur Reynolds. He was a skilled turner and carver and patient mentor to all, especially our students. Our new Woodturning room has been named "The Arthur Reynolds Room" in his memory. He is fondly remembered by all and often comes up in conversations. In our hearts and minds always.

15.01.2022 These photos have been provided by one of our many "Inventive" members to facilitate wood working in their shed. Mal Baker has designed and installed his own Cyclone Extractor System to prevent wood chips going into his dust extraction system. Making a cyclone using 20 paint buckets Mal has made 2 cyclones out of paint containers and 60lt plastic rubbish bins.... Pics 1, 2 & 3 are of the cyclone close to his dust extraction system. Pics 4 & 5 are on the other side of the shed but still going to the same dust extraction system. The system works well and saves him having to empty the main system bags In fact hes not had to empty them since he put the system in about a year ago. In the plastic bags in Pic 3 you can see how much sawdust is in the main bags. Pics 6 & 7 show the pipe work inside of the cyclone Thank you, Mal for sharing with us
