22.01.2022 East Gippsland Rivers and Lakes Fishing Report for 26th November 2020 Lakes Entrance There are plenty of Trevally around the town jetties taking all bait that is presented to them. Salmon are biting on fresh squid and salted blue bait, Whiting are also being caught on Pippies at Eastern Beach car parks. West of the Entrance, close to the beach for Gummies. Pipeline and Six-mile Reef for Snapper. Water temperature is 18 degrees.... Lake Tyers Bream are being caught at Black Fellows Arm around dusk, for best results use fresh prawn. Up towards Nowa Nowa and the football ground good size Flathead can be found taking prawn and soft plastics. Mitchell River Perch are active around the Highway and Wy Yung bridges on hard body lures and soft plastics. From Shadoof Lodge and down towards the Cut is producing nice Bream biting on shrimp, worm and prawn. Tambo River From the boat ramp, Marshalls Flat and the river mouth for Bream on prawn and shrimp. Nicholson Around the boat ramp heading down to the swimming hole then onto the river mouth for Bream. Best results on local prawn and shrimp. Metung Flathead are biting in the shallow areas of Lake King on soft plastics and prawns. Shavings Point have Bream and Luderick taking local prawn. Paynesville In the Strait, around the town jetties and channel for Bream. Around the back of island for Flathead. Best results shrimp and soft plastics Holland’s Landing Bream have been at Hollands Landing jetty biting on prawn. Newlands Arm Is also worth a look for Flathead. Marlo System Is producing good sized Luderick, Bream and Mullet taking prawn, sand worm and black crabs. Flathead and Perch are cruising about and are taking prawn and lures. Surf for Salmon, Tailor and decent sized Shark Bemm River The Lake and Channel are producing Bream and Luderick which are taking sand worm and prawn. Tailor are biting soft plastics and lures. The Entrance is still open Tamboon Inlet Bream are in the river taking cut crab and live shrimp. Pelican Point have Flathead on plastics and lures. Trevally and Taylor are being caught at Peters’ Rock biting on blue bait. Salmon off the surf taking Pilchards and Poppers. Mallacoota 2 golden tagged Flathead were landed. Prawns are about. Surf beach for Salmon on Pilchards and Poppers. Scallops and Crayfish can be purchased from the local Suppliers Omeo High Country Trout are moving about the rivers, but you need to work for them, try worm, plastic lures and Fly Patterns for best results Compiled and transmitted by East Gippsland Visitor Information Centres. 13.01.2022 East Gippsland Rail Trail 4-day solo bikepacking trip / first self sufficient trip I loved every minute of it! I dreamt about getting out there again in the l...ast few months in Melbourne and so amazing to be free again!! Quiet and peaceful rail trails, delicious country bakery/cafe lunches, camping by the snowy river, perfect sunny weather, the changing sceneries from farmlands to forests, from rivers and lakes to the ocean, and riding at my own pace with everything I need on my bike. I definitely have the bikepacking bug now and can’t wait to do more! Day 1 (16/11) - Ride to Beaconsfield station, train to Pakenham then Vline to Bairnsdale. Ride to Nowa Nowa and camping at Nowa Nowa Caravan Park. Total 63km, 440m up. Day 2 (17/11) - A lap at Nowa Nowa Mountain Bike Park without gear. Ride to Orbost for lunch then to Marlo. Camping by the Snowy River near Orbost. Total 80km, 600m up. Day 3 (18/11) - Orbost to Nowa Nowa for lunch, then to Lake Entrance via Lake Colquhuob Road. Camping at Lake Entrance Recreation Reserve and Camping Ground. Total 73km, 600m up. Day 4 (19/11) - Lake Entrance to Bruthen for Lunch via Gippsland Lakes Discovery Trail, then to Bairnsdale. Vline Bairnsdale to Pakenham, then train to Beaconsfield and ride home. Total 77km, 550m up. See more

13.01.2022 WATER-TAXI Activity: No. 1. Barrier Landing to Drews Jetty Walk. 3km beach walk. Water-Taxi from Lakes Entrance to Barrier Landing Jetty via a view of Ocean Ent...rance and Seal colony. At Barrier Landing, follow sandy track south to Ocean Beach. Head east (3km) along the remote section of 90 Mile Beach. Pass the out-fall pipe from Dredge. At West Entrance rockwall, head up the sand-dune and north along track (200m) near rock wall and view various heritage items used in 1890 to construct the Entrance. Continue along pathway to Drews Jetty on Hopetoun Channel. Contact Water-Taxi to make a return time for trip to Lakes Entrance. Total cost for both boat trips: $70 for 2 adults. 10.01.2022 East Gippsland Fishing Report - Thursday 19th November, 2020 Marlo The island and rough groins for Luderick and Bream taking prawn, sand worm and black crabs.... Mullet are cruising about. Salmon and Tailor on incoming tide smacking lures. Surf for Salmon and Tailor. Offshore for Flathead. Gummies from the surf. (Photo by Tanya at Visit Marlo follow for some great photographs and travel tips out East!) Lakes Entrance Trevally and King Fish are around the floating pontoon biting on blue bait and squid. King George and Silver Whiting are fishing well taking fresh pipi. Salmon biting on pilchard and poppers at Eastern Beach at both car parks. Offshore at Six Mile Reef for Leather Jackets, Snapper and Morwong. Pipeline for good sized Snapper and School Shark. Lake Tyers Mill Point, Toorloo Arm and all the way up to Nowa Nowa for Flathead around 95cm and Bream around 42cm. Best baits are soft plastics and peeled prawn. Mitchell River Bream are active at Grassy Banks and down to The Cut. Best baits are prawn, spider crab and shrimp. Perch are biting around the highway bridge around evening on hard body lures and soft plastics. Some nice Trout have been landed at Glenaladale with scrub worm and soft plastics. Tambo River From the power lines down towards Rough Road and Howard’s Flat for Bream. Best results on live shrimp and prawn, also try drifting bait. Nicholson From Pear Tree, to the swimming hole and 2nd fence for Bream. Best results on local prawn and soft plastics. The Cliffs and car bodies are worth a try. Metung Bancroft Bay, Chinamen’s and Box’s Creeks are worth a look around evening for Bream on peeled prawn and worm. Nungurner Jetty for Whiting. Paynesville In the Strait, around the town jetties and channel for Bream. Around the back of island for Flathead. Newlands Arm is another good spot using peeled prawn and soft plastics. Holland’s Landing Bream have been at Hollands Landing jetty biting on prawn. Seacombe Landing is also worth a try. Tom’s Creek and Jones Bay are producing good fish. Bemm River The lake is producing Bream which are taking worm. Some Luderick on prawn. Surf for Salmon on pilchard and poppers. Tamboon Inlet Salmon being taken from the beach on blue bait and poppers. From Lake Furnell to river mouth for Bream on cut crab and live shrimp. Egan’s Bank for Flathead on soft plastics. Mallacoota Top and Bottom Lakes for Flathead and Bream taking prawn and soft plastics. Surf for Salmon, and prawns are on the move.
