19.01.2022 Its definitely not beach weather in Perth right now but since watching Space Force on the weekend I have been listening to Kokomo by The Beach Boys on a loop. Its Day 5 now and I cannot stop! What song are you listening to on a lopp right now? P.S This pic - not Aruba, Jamaica, Bahama, Key Largo, Montego, ... 19.01.2022 My last post was a few weeks ago and admittedly I spent a bit of time in "hiding" after the post as it was pretty emo. Part of the reason I am stepping away from the cookie trading is to focus on my health. Over the last few months I stacked on 8 kilos and was just not feeling great - super lethargic and just not feeling it. The last straw for me was getting hit with the flu and being out for a few days. Was not impressed! Got some blood tests done and behold I have super low... vitamin d hence the blahness. Then I saw a @f45_training_secretharbour post about the upcoming 45 day challenge. On Friday June 12th, I dragged my butt to the info session and asked the question - "I am terribly unfit, will I be able to do it?" Bangas said yeah for sure. Roll along Monday June 15th 7am and I lasted all of um.. maybe 10minutes and I spent most of that class outside trying not to spew. He said I could do it but he definitely didnt say it would be a walk in the park! It had been 5 years since I attempted to exercise. I knew it was gonna be hard. Kristie sat with me while I tried not to spew on that first session. When I stood up, my butt left the biggest sweat patch imprint on the pavement. I am telling you it was BIG and BEYOND embarassing! But I went back in and finished the class anyways. More "omg i think im gonna " moments came - especially in the first three weeks. It is now the end of week 7 - I still cannot do push ups, pull ups, box jumps or keep my butt down for proper planks, mountain climbers and that crazy bear crawl exorcist thing. But I am loving it! And for my first @f45_training_challenge I ended up losing 4.7kgs fat, decreased body fat by 5.3%, gained 1kg of muscle, visceral fat dropped from 20 to 17. So looks like this is gonna be the next journey! Its a wee bit different to cookies but hopefully it will be as entertaining See more

18.01.2022 Im a wee bit late to the party (over a month late really) but just want to say a huge thanks to the @tedxyouth.perth team for spending their Saturday spreading the cookie and juice love after the event was cancelled. Thanks to @martinwisker @bethan_winn_critical_thinking and team for sharing the goodies with RedCross Soup Patrol Fremantle, Halo Team Mandurah, St Barts House Perth ans Dog Refuge Shenton Park. I have been on a bit of a social media break as things got frant...ic there for a while but the cookie baking continues and theres been a lot of birthday cookies and just because cookies delivered over the last month. 18.01.2022 Plot twist After much soul searching and discussions (internal monologue included), the decision has been made to park cookie trading. Whether or not its for good or temporary is to be confirmed. But defitely parked for this financial year. It was not an easy decision to make but its the right one.... Our projects in the Philippines will continue and our focus will now be on growing The Mindful Designer Australia and @artisauperth. These two businesses will continue to support our projects in the Philippines. I will carry on baking, but back to being a hobby and playing with different recipes. Huge thanks to the amazing people who have helped me grow Baked by Erica beyond what I could have imagined. Its been an insane journey but its time to shift gears for now. Thank you for the support and love. I will continue to be shameless and oversharey with whatever the future brings on this account and supporting all my small biz buds. So keep an eye out. See more

16.01.2022 According to Facebook mems, it was two years ago to the day I got to learn how to make these amazing treats and hang with @sweetartistacademy Was such a wonderful day. If you have been thinking of doing their courses, I say DO IT! I have done another one since and itching to do more, even if I live on the opposite end of the freeway. 15.01.2022 Early start to the day with the UN Women Australia International Women's Day breakfast. Got to learn all about Second Chance which provides women who have missed out on an education and career another chance to do so. Of the 750 million people who are illiterate, 500million are women - thats a huge number! UN Women with seed funding from BHP Foundation and other supporters are piloting the program in Jordan, Cameroon, India, Mexico, Chile, Nigeria, and Australia. In Australia..., they are partnering with Real Futures Pty Ltd and Sisterworks Inc To top off what was already an incredible morning listening to inspiring people changing the world... the lady who was sitting next to me was a cookie customer! She had our cookies at her wedding in 2017. Mind blown! Pics of the cookies she had included - of course I had to dig em up once we made the connection. #iwd2020 #generationequality #iwdperth

15.01.2022 One of the reasons it was hard to change my diet and lifestyle and maintain Baked by Erica was the increased presence of nuts in the kitchen. I did not want to risk cross contamination but due to health woes had to change my diet. Sorry cookie monsters This is my fave "healthy" treat so far from the @f45_training_challenge C27 meal plan. Double chocolate - because I do love me anything chocolatey

It was just early days of the cookie caper and boy did I have no idea what was to come. 4 years on its a completely different direction. 4 years beforehand was so different too. ... 2012 I transitioned from the corporate world to a site based manual labour role. 2016 I went from site to cookie biz (with an X-men filled hiatus in between 2020 well.. its been interesting hasnt it! Do you have a similar cycle of change?

09.01.2022 Sadly no @tedxyouth.perth today. Admittedly I felt so deflated as every cookie was done and packed away by the time the call to reschedule was made but also completely understand why the decision was made. Its not business as usual these days, nothing is really very usual these days is it? If you have been affected by any cancellations, understand that the call has not been made lightly. The TedxYouthPerth crew had been working on this for 6 months. Yep I lost about 10 ...hours in total but its all about safety - OUR safety. The situation is fluid and we dont know what next weekend will look like or next month. With the toilet paper and hand sanitiser wars raging, maybe we need to realise that even if we need to hang with ourselves a bit more these days due to quarantine or social distancing, we are not the only ones going through it. We are all going through this. Each one of us needs to think of our own safety but we also need to think of how our actions (hygiene, shopping habits) can affect those around us.
