It was held as a virtual event this year, for the first time. The theme for the competition this year was RePLAY, which explored ways we could motivate and encourage people to participate in physical activity. The competition consisted of a robotics table game plus an innovation project where students identified a problem based around this year’s theme, and developed a solution. The students presented their project to a panel of judges and participated in a Q & A session about their robot designs their and experiences throughout the competition.

21.01.2022 Late last term, 3/4 Peel completed a rubbish audit with the help of KESAB and City of Palmerston and as part of a waste management education program being rolled out during Environmental Science. Following this, students engaged in rich cross curriculum learning experiences relating to waste management. One of their tasks included analysing the rubbish and categorising it into different types of waste. They discovered that much of our waste can either be recycled or composted..., reducing the amount ending up in landfill. 3 /4 Peel identified four key waste management actions: Composting 10 cent recycling mixed recycling Redcycling (recycling of soft plastic). These actions were presented to Ms Roberts who approved a whole school voluntary trial until the end of the year! Well-done Ms Peel and her class for their commitment to making a difference to the Environment! During Environmental Science, primary students have been participating in a range of waste management activities to build their knowledge on the topic in preparation for this trial. Last week they participated in a recycle relay, sorting waste into 4 different categories and having fun outdoors at the same time!
