24.01.2022 With the fast moving electrical storm yesterday, our local members we're tasked with helping our local community with some water damage to a business in Balaklava. The water overflowed into the building due to built up sediment and leaves in their storm water drains. To avoid something similar happening to you please make sure your drains and pipes are clear before the next heavy rains roll into town

24.01.2022 Media and the public are advised that TOTAL FIRE BANS have been declared for 15 November 2020 in the following Fire Ban Districts: Northwest Pastoral - Severe N...ortheast Pastoral - Severe Eastern Eyre Peninsula - Severe Flinders - Extreme Mid North - Extreme Mount Lofty Ranges - Severe Yorke Peninsula - Severe Riverland - Severe Where Total Fire Bans have been declared, very hazardous fire weather conditions are predicted. The Total Fire Ban will apply for 24 hours from midnight tonight to midnight tomorrow. The CFS recommends that you implement your Bushfire Survival Plan. FIRE DANGER RATING Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Extreme, only well prepared, well constructed and actively defended houses are likely to offer safety during a fire. Where fire ban districts have a forecast fire danger rating of Severe, well prepared and actively defended houses can offer safety during a fire. If you don't have a plan to ensure your survival, leaving early before a fire starts is your safest option. In making your plan, you should be aware that in high fire danger conditions, essential services including mains-fed electricity and water supply may not be available due to the prevailing weather conditions. Landowners are asked to adhere to local harvest codes of practice which are available from your local council. Landowners are also asked to ensure that any burn-off activities conducted today are fully extinguished before midnight tonight. Agencies are advised to activate their Total Fire Ban procedures in preparation for these predicted fire weather conditions. For further information contact the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1800 362 361 or visit https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au

24.01.2022 Another successful deployment to NSW for Balaklava members Sam Gutteridge (1st trip) and Ryan Post (3rd trip). Interstate deployments are just another reason to join the CFS. Being able to help so many people in your own community is a special thing, being able to help communities interstate is something generally rarely experienced in the past. Come in and see us Monday nights 7pm to enquire.

13.01.2022 A message from Chief Officer Mark Jones QFSM: Yesterday saw the first significant fire weather for the 2020-21 Fire Danger Season. The CFS and MFS responded to ...hundreds for fires, most of which were initiated by lightning strikes. The majority of the fires were expertly extinguished due to the fast response of our state’s firefighters backed by rapid deployment of aerial support on the larger incidents. Whilst this is the first bushfire test of the season, both fire services continue to work together to deliver high quality safety services to the public across the state. I would also like to thank those who operated Farm Fire Units who did an excellent job putting out smaller fires on their properties, without the CFS needing to attend. These fires serve as a timely reminder that the weather and nature will continue to present challenges to the safety of South Australians. The Fire Services of the State recognise those challenges and prepare to face them together in the best tradition of the emergency services. The CFS alone responded to 163 fires, with over 200 call outs for other emergency responses, including road crash rescue and trees down. Thank you to all of our volunteers who responded to incidents yesterday, and to the members of public who heeded our messages and helped us to keep you safe.

12.01.2022 Total Fire Bans expected for Sunday 15 November 2020. Bans will be confirmed after 4pm. Live stream from CFS
