20.01.2022 QUESTION 1. WHAT DOES A NUTRITIONIST DO? This is one of the biggest questions I got asked when I was studying nutritional medicine. Put simply, a nutritionist is someone who provides food and nutrition advice to others to help them achieve optimal health. So whilst we will tell you to eat your 5 serves of veggies a day our job role goes way beyond that.... These days we are seeing a myriad of health complaints where poor nutritional choices may be causing or exacerbating ...the symptoms. Without realizing, we could be making our conditions worse simply because we are eating the wrong foods for our body OR we aren't eating enough of the RIGHT foods to give us the nutrients that our bodies need to support our overall health. Thats when a nutritionist can step in! During a nutrition consultation your nutritional practitioner will listen to your presenting complaint then look at each of your different body systems to try and see what's really going on. This a very holistic approach to as we don't just focus on fixing the problem but also finding the underlying reason. From there your practitioner can suggest both diet & lifestyle recommendations (plus supplement recommendations if you need extra support) for you to make in order to start seeing some improvements in your health * I will be offering nutritional consultations shortly. Stay tuned*

19.01.2022 If you want to know more about what a nutritionist actually does or if you want to get to know me a bit better, then stay tuned as I'm going to answer some of my most asked questions over the next few days including what exactly a nutritionist does and what I eat in a day!

16.01.2022 QUESTION 2: WHAT IS MY FOOD PHILOSOPHY? You ask anyone who knows me well and I'll be asking "whats for dinner?" half way through eating lunch. I love food! It's a great way to bring people together and it's a great way to celebrate different cultures! Food should be made to be eaten and be enjoyed. It shouldn't be feared, used to punish ourselves or be too restrictive. We need to find that BALANCE when it comes to food. Me personally, I'm all about that balance! I have a very... healthy diet but I'm also the first person to say yes to dinners out with family or a BBQ with friends. Mostly, my meals are very much based on whole foods - that is, I like to consume food that is as close to its natural state as I can. Fresh fruit, vegetables, freshly caught local fish, nuts, seeds, wholegrains, cold pressed oils, good quality meat and fresh eggs from Mums chooks If it's heavily processed with preservatives, additives and an ingredient list as long as my arm then it doesn't go in my trolley I like to cook from scratch with real ingredients that I know my body will recognise and know how to properly digest. And most importantly, by eating this way I know I'm filling my body with all the good stuff my body needs to thrive #balancehealthandnutrition #nutritionist #balance #healthylivng #optimalhealth #wholefoods # #newbusiness #narooma #5questions #question2 See more

01.01.2022 WELCOME to Balance Health & Nutrition!! After 3 years of studying nutritional medicine I'm now a fully qualified Nutritionist and want to share my love for health and nutrition with you all. I chose the name 'Balance' as not only does it reflect my own views on health and nutrition (balance is key to overall health) but as a nutritionist I want to help each of my clients reestablish their balance in order to achieve optimal health. These days with a mixture of poor dietary ...and lifestyle choices we can end up with a myriad of health complaints and disease states. Obesity, type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular problems, hormonal imbalances, nutritional deficiencies, lowered immune systems, fatigue, gut issues, skin issues... the list goes on! What we eat matters!! It can either HELP OR HINDER our health in a big way. I'm here as a nutritionist to help educate you on correct nutrition and show you that eating well doesn't have to be boring or restrictive. I intend to fill my page with nutritional tips and tricks as well as healthy and delicious meals for you to recreate at home. My website will be going live at a later date and I will be offering nutritional consultations & services in Narooma in the near future. To stay up to date, please follow my page. I'd love to help you to restore your balance, naturally. Yours in good health, Tara Hodgson. Balance Health & Nutrition. See more
