25.01.2022 Bile got a mention on the recent Anxiety Summit. Even if you no longer have a gall bladder you still produce bile. This blog by Dr Jockers covers all the bases: why we need bile and how to support our livers in producing it.

20.01.2022 Did you know that acupuncture is possible without needles? We use a number of alternative methods for accessing and improving your body’s energy pathways to encourage healing. Cupping is often used in conjunction with acupuncture and may be applicable in a range of muscular and inflammatory issues. ... Glass, plastic or rubber cups are applied to selected points on the body by using heat or vacuum to reduce the atmospheric pressure within the cup, drawing the skin and underlying tissue into the cup much in the same way a plunger works on a blocked sink. Cupping is traditionally used to promote peripheral blood flow and healthy Wei Qi (the Chinese Medicine version of the immune system). If you're interested in learning more about cupping, visit our website here; https://balanceacupuncturebrisbane.com.au/

20.01.2022 What is acupuncture and how does it help? If you’ve been interested in pain management, relaxation, or holistic therapies - you’ve likely heard of acupuncture. Acupuncture was born from the ancient Chinese philosophy of the yin and the yang, and it is believed that problems in the human body are caused by imbalances between the two forces.... Obstructing this energy (or Qi) can be attributed to blockages through 12 meridians (pathways), that are associated with major organs. Acupuncture uses needles across the 12 meridians to unblock the Qi obstructions, stimulate healing, and provide relief for the patient.

17.01.2022 A period is like a report card it tells you how your body is going The menstrual cycle is an amazing diagnostic tool, with the activities inside a woman’s body reflected within the menstruation. Often, a functional disorder somewhere in a woman’s finely tuned body, that hasn’t yet perceptually changed the structure of the body will be identified.... Rebalancing the body and ensuring the cycle and flow of menstruation occurs unimpeded, will improve the overall health of a women. A normal cycle is regularly every 2630 days, lasts for 57 days, the flow while it starts heavy, gradually lessens, has no clots and is not painful enough to take medication. Many women believe pain with every cycle is normal. Painful Periods is a very broad term in western medicine and encompasses endometriosis, fibroids, trauma and we need to do some detective work to identify the pattern of disharmony that is specific to that woman. I discuss this topic in more detail here https://balanceacupuncturebrisbane.com.au/a-period-is-like/

15.01.2022 How Are You Doing? After a couple of ropey days and four adults in close confines we decided to implement a bit of gratitude. Each day ...we come together and share what we appreciated about each other the previous day. Better to look for the good than concentrate on the negative. A new initiative today was to add in how we contributed and used our time. At least once in each category. So far, so good! See more

13.01.2022 Enjoyed Adam Kays book and would recommend it. After working as a nurse in the hospital systems in Australia and England this book resonated with me. Kay provided me with several laugh out loud moments. I found myself nodding to the incredulous stories highlighting the good, the bad and the misguided nature of us humans. Looking for other reading recommendations in this down time.... Let me know what you are up to? Reading? Working from home? Getting your paper work up to date? See more

12.01.2022 The AcuGraph is a simple diagnostic tool which utilises modern technology to measure the energy levels of each acupuncture meridian. It is a simple, painless, diagnostic tool and takes no more than a few minutes to examine your meridians, and displays how the meridians are interacting with each other and whether the energy is stuck, deficient or balanced. By testing your meridians, I can get a better understanding of your current health and potential health issues. ... This allows us to make informed decisions on the best treatment to bring your body back into balance.

10.01.2022 Did you know we do preconception care programs? Your health prior to conception influences the health of your children and grandchildren. Undertaking a preconception care program that covers all aspects of your health four to six months prior to conceiving ensures that your body is in the very best condition and is well prepared to conceive and to sustain a healthy pregnancy.... Your initial 90-minute appointment will assess your current reproductive health, diet, lifestyle, exercise, stressors and environmental toxin exposure. Together with an acugraph reading and assessment of the tongue and pulse, this information will be used to formulate a Chinese medical diagnosis and treatment plan. Your treatment will make you more aware of the cyclical nature of your body, and provides opportunities for you to learn more about the fundamentals of preconception care in a caring and supportive environment. 0405 181 825 balanceacupuncturebrisbane.com.au

We start every treatment with a 60-minute initial assessment which includes a diagnostic assessment and preliminary treatment. 08.01.2022 Many people hold fears around needles, and so there is a common misconception that because acupuncture uses needles, it will inflict pain on the patient. We find this is the single biggest deterrent before people try acupuncture. However, most dont feel anything, and if they do feel any pain, it might be described as a chi sensation. It can be heavy, throbbing, or jumping, all of which are positive responses.... The treatment isnt meant to hurt, however, sometimes your first treatment may cause some different experiences due to specific energy points on your body being activated for the first time.
