04.01.2022 What are you achieving in lockdown that you couldn’t possibly have done if you weren’t stuck in your home for months on end? For me, in 2020 I set my sights on becoming a licensed mortgage broker to add to the services I offer my bookkeeping clientele. And why wouldn’t I? I have access to all their financial information, I understand it.it seemed like a no brainer! So there I was, signed up & committed to becoming a broker with little to no time on my hands between juggling... kids, homeschooling & a business. I made the decision to get up earlier than the rest of my household to do my assessments, study, sit my exams and become accredited. Something that seemed so easy initially turned out to be much harder than I anticipated. I had absolutely no knowledge on lending, no knowledge on real estate, all I had was the knowledge of how to read a financial statement and my own experience buying and selling property. I was a fish out of water, I failed the exam twice, totally depleted after months of working on this course, I gave it one last go, the third time was a charm. Fast forward one year, I am accredited with a long list of banks, I’m writing a couple of loans per month and not just for my clients who trust me but for people I don’t even know who have been referred to me. There is nothing more rewarding in any business, than a rave review. It hasn’t been an easy road, you can study all you want in any industry but nothing truely prepares for working in the industry. I’ve worked so hard to get to where I am, it’s onwards & upwards from here. Moral to my story, start before you are ready. Take a big leap of faith & dive right in! We only regret the things we didn’t do.
