18.01.2022 BALANCED SUPPORT REINS - AUSTRALIA WOULD LIKE TO ANNOUNCE SOME EXCITING NEWS!!! The PCANSW state meeting was held today, and the motion put forward by Shiralee Adams on behalf of Zone 25 to approve Balanced Support Reins for use at Pony Club. This was approved during the meeting and covers all Pony Clubs in NSW :) Yay :)

15.01.2022 What are Balanced Support Reins and how do they fit ? Balanced Support Reins are an unique original multi functioning rein that work in an opposite way to Grass... reins and Daisy reins (and side reins, which are not designed to be used when riding ). They are a normal riding rein with an extra elastic support rein on each side ,they are adjustable on the rein via a buckle. The elastic support reins clips to the d rings and the front of the saddle on each side. Balanced Support Reins can be used with any bit and can be use with a martingale if required . They are less bulky and tidier as they to not fix to the ponys head or have a direct contact on the bit . They do not fix the pony into a contact and do not restrict the natural movement of the pony. When fitting the reins the support rein is best to be on the loosest setting ( hole nearest to riders hands ) When clipping the rein to the d rings they should not be stretched to attach or pull the pony's head back to the vertical. There will be a contact at this point through the riding rein to the bit, but when the rider is mounted and has a contact on the rein , the support rein will lie slack. The elasticated support rein will come into action when the riders contact is lost or threatened ie pony pulls or snatches or rider drops the rein. The support rein acts like a soft pair of forgiving hands that will give with the pony but take back , this is where they work differently to other products. They do not fight with the pony. Side and grass reins do not give they block so the pony will fight or lean on them. Imagine yourself being restricted in movement of your head or a limb , it becomes frustrating and you will eventually lose concentration on what you are doing and start to become angry ,you will adjust the way you move to compensate for the restriction and you will start to ache and your muscles will tire . Balanced support reins don't do this as the pony can still stretch through their back they can still stretch their head and neck forwards and sideways , as the elasticated support rein will move with them. The difference is that it is giving and taking so the pony assumes it is the riders hands and doesn't fight as it knows it can still move and doesn't cause a fight with the rider so does not feel restricted , can still engage the hind legs and can concentrate and be happier , the support rein can be adjusted to a fit to suit the pony's size. They can also be used when jumping. They also help the rider to relax and ride with a lighter hand and contact as the rider will benefit from confidence that they are not going to lose control of the rein They can help with straightness as the rider can relax a possible uneven contact of the rein and allow the pony to feel the support rein contact and ride into a soft even contact. I hope this information helps to understand how they work. 14.01.2022 IS YOUR PONY TAKING ADVANTAGE OF ITS YOUNG RIDER ? Balanced Support Reins can help the rider take control. Read on...... Balanced Support Reins are a normal set of Reins with an extra elastic Support Rein attached on each rein. The support rein is buckled on to each rein with multiple buckle holes along the rein for adjustment. It then clips to the D Rings at the front of the saddle. ( We also stock D Ring Replacers if your saddle doesnt have D Rings, these slide over the ...stirrup Bars to provide a D Ring ) The support rein comes into action when the pony/horse pulls down too far or snatches to eat grass etc. Young Riders may not have the core strength to stay Balanced in the saddle and may be pulled over the front of the saddle, Balanced support Reins prevent this from happening. The pull is transferred from the rein to the elastic rein and stops at the saddle. The support rein acting like a second pair soft hands, thus the horse/pony thinks that the rider still has a contact. Balanced Support Reins, when fitted correctly, do not restrict the horse or Ponies natural movement and they can be used while jumping as they will go with the movement. They have helped hugely with riders that find their mount dropping their heads , running out, dropping a shoulder before or after jumps. Balanced Support Reins can help beginner riders move off the lead rein and become more independent. We also sell short leather extenders for those of you that have changed ponies and find that your Balanced Support Reins are now too short for the new pony.
