23.01.2022 HAPPY FRI-YAY If your looking for something to do over the weekend, here is this weeks Pilates mat workout I did with the hockey girls!! Bit of a tricep and arm fryer!! Remember ... Activate your core muscles for each exercise - pelvic floor and transversus abdominus - Think letter T (I explain in the video) Breathe - inhale to prepare - exhale on effort Imprinted spine for the abdominal exercises Relax neck & shoulders Stop and reset your core muscles if your feeling pain in your lower back We did 45sec exercise with 15 sec rest! Have fun!! If you have a really acute lower back injury or are postnatal and haven’t done much core work, some of the ab exercises will not be suitable. Also, the strong abdominal exercises (with a curl up particularly) are not advised in 2nd and 3rd trimester of pregnancy.

20.01.2022 25min Pilates Workout using Sliders This workout uses Pilates sliders. If you don’t have these, don’t stress!! if you do your workouts on carpet you can use plastic plates as your sliders and if you are on a hard floor you can use face washers or microfibre cloths! When the sliders are under your feet, wiggle your bottom down towards the end of your mat so your feet are on the floor! ... 13.01.2022 Do you know how to engage your core correctly?? With all the home exercising that’s been going on due to Covid-19 I thought I would remind everyone how to activate their core muscles! It’s easy to forget but oh so beneficial if you can get it right! Think of having a capital letter T on the front of your pelvis. Firstly, your gently going to draw your pelvic floor muscle up along the imaginary vertical line of the T, as if your trying to stop yourself from go...ing to the toilet. Try to not clench your bottom. Once the pelvic floor is tight, think of flattening the imaginary horizontal line of the T in towards the spine and imagine your hip bones are magnets and are being drawn towards each other. This is to activate your transverse abdominis. Don’t hold your breath Keep the rest of your abdominals relaxed Don’t clench your bottom Activating your core muscles shouldn’t only just be when your doing exercise! Practice engaging these muscles in daily activities, for example lifting anything heavy, squatting down to pick up toys or picking up your baby etc You can also start practicing your core muscle activation after having a baby as soon as you feel up to it . . . . . . . . . #Pilates #coreactivation #coremuscles #homeexercise #corestrength #pilatesinstructor #pilateslovers #pelvicfloor #transverseabdominis
