23.01.2022 ONLINE / PHONE CONSULTATIONS . As of this week, I am limiting all consultations to online or phone. It was a big (and multifaceted) decision to pause face-to-face consults, as now - perhaps more than ever! - many of us can benefit from sessions. However, my heart feels lighter knowing that I can still offer continuity of care while we are all respectively hunkering down at home. Sessions can be booked via the usual link online (or you can DM me directly). . Chinese Medicine ...was made for these times. Our oldest herbal medicine textbook, the Shang Han Lun, is one that I work from each day. This book was compiled in response to the author's heartbreak at the suffering and loss of life due to various epidemic diseases. And it was many of these formulas that were used recently in Wuhan, after the Chinese Government decreed that all Wuhan medical institutions treating COVID-19 incorporate Chinese herbal medicine into patient care. Chinese herbal formulas were also used preventatively for health care workers and others in contact with the virus. . #chinesemedicine #herbalmedicine #naturalhealth #covid19 #corona #immunity See more

21.01.2022 Right now, we find ourselves in the season of Late Summer a time of humidity and dampness that can overwhelm the organ systems related to digestion and fluid metabolism. This can potentially result in various digestive symptoms, weight changes, fluid retention, swelling, fatigue and foggy thinking. . Luckily, over the millennia, Chinese Medicine has developed simple diet and lifestyle tweaks that help us to flow in harmony with the seasons including this time of dampness...! These are simple adjustments, such as tweaking what and how we eat, how we choose to move our bodies, and the pace and intention we bring to our day. . Join us in episode 14 of the Balanced Natural Health podcast, as we learn more about how to balance our bodies at this time for greater health and vitality! . #healthpodcast #podcast #healthyliving #eatlocal #mindfulness #gratitude #foodasmedicine #chinesemedicine #fiveelements #5elements #naturalmedicine #naturalmedicinepodcast See more

15.01.2022 Yay, I can finally share my big news with you!! I have a podcast, and it's now available on iTunes, Stitcher, Google Podcasts and through my website - Spotify listing is on it's way!! . This podcast was inspired by all the great conversations and the insightful questions that come up in clinic. I found that similar conversations would pop up often, so I figured, let's get them out there for all to share! . As some of you may know, I love nerding out on both ancient health... technologies and the cutting edge of medical research - both areas that aren't necessarily always readily accessible, but that gift us with valuable information to empower our health choices. Right now, we are living in a particularly exciting time in science, as increasingly we see new discoveries echoing time-tested wisdom: East & West may use differing terminology, but both are describing the same aspects of health. This podcast integrates both perspectives. . If this appeals, I'd love for you to have a listen, share the love with others who may be interested, and leave an iTunes review / stars to help us spread the love even further And I'd love to hear what health & wellness questions YOU would like answered . 13.01.2022 Did you know that meditation is not only a key part of the Eastern health traditions, but that we are now also seeing it prescribed by Western medicine practitioners, for symptoms ranging from psoriasis, to blood pressure, immune response and management of depression? . More detail in episode 4 of the Balanced Natural Health with Dr. Maz podcast! . #naturalhealth #meditation #naturalmedicine #selfcare #yinyang #balance #chinesemedicine #podcast #healthpodcast #healthyliving

13.01.2022 We are living in strange times, with so much fear, anxiety and hoarding floating around. Now is a great time to slow down, get outside in the sun and fresh air, breathe, #meditate and calm the nervous system (with the potential to support our immune systems by not placing a further stress on the body!) . Take time-out from news / social media if it is impacting your mental health. Wash hands regularly (20 seconds each time). Avoid touching your face unless you've just washed ...your hands. Skip the handshakes for now. Be kind Choose positive thoughts Look out for each other . Acupuncture can be a wonderful way to ease the overwhelm, and both #acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine prescriptions have been used both on the frontlines of the #COVID19 virus in China, and also as general health tonics to support those that remain uninfected. . I will be going into more detail on Chinese #herbalmedicine usage in China during the COVID-19 pandemic in my next podcast (some sources claim over 80% implementation nationwide - I'm busy checking all the facts!). In the meantime, my current podcast details simple diet and lifestyle measures we can all take to support our health at this time - easy things like ensuring we keep up our veggies for lots of bioavailable vitamins and nutrients, getting adequate sleep (now is not the time to be burning the midnight oil and stressing our immune systems!) and gentle movement in fresh air. . The clinic remains open to support you in supporting your health. We are sanitising between patients, and we ask you to wash your hands on arrival - there is a sink and paper towel in the main waiting area. Hand sanitiser is also available (with over 60% alcohol content, as per CDC guidelines). . For everyone's best health, if you suspect you may be affected by COVID-19, please contact the clinic - we can support you with online consultations and targeted herbal medicine prescriptions. . . #naturalmedicine #naturalhealth #immunity See more

12.01.2022 Our country is burning and my heart breaks for the vast suffering and loss of life, home, habitat and precious ecosystems. Nestled in with the deep grief is gratitude for the tireless and heroic work of the people on the frontlines, and the love and support that has poured in from all corners of the globe. If you are in a position to donate, please do - every dollar helps and the fires continue to burn. ... @wireswildliferescue @redcrossau @cfavic @nswrfs Please let’s continue to spread kindness, awareness and love. And in addition to our open hearts, let’s keep our minds open too: let’s ask questions, be curious, inform ourselves so as to best guide our path forward. Beau / Adobe Stock

06.01.2022 In these unusual times, I’m taking my own advice today to get out of the whirl of thoughts and into my body. . In today’s podcast, I talk - amongst other things - about the 54321 technique to calm anxiety. . Simply: ... choose 5 things to look at and really SEE. This could be the sky, the texture of your skin, the weave of your clothes, a sparkle of light. I went outside and looked at my feet on the grass, and sifted through the fallen frangipani to see which spoke to me. choose 4 things you can touch or feel. I was aware of the brush of grass under my feet, the velvet of the petals. become aware of 3 things you can hear: a bird, a car driving past, the wind in the leaves observe 2 things you can smell: for me it was these divine blooms and the smell of sun on the grass finally, choose 1 thing you can taste (my amazing Buddha bowl lunch I just finished ) . When the whirl of thoughts or anxiety becomes overwhelming, we can drop into our bodies and senses for instant calm and relief. The calm space exists within all of us, sometimes we just need to slow down and breathe. . #podcast #healthpodcast #covid_19 #calm #mindfulness #mindbody #naturalhealth #chinesemedicine #grounded #54321 See more

06.01.2022 After the Chinese Government reported on the critical role of Chinese herbal medicine in the timely containment of COVID-19, herbal medicine stores have been swamped with orders!! It is important to remember that the strength of Chinese Medicine is in it’s targeted and personalized treatment - and this is reflected in the experience of doctors in Wuhan, who were customizing a range of formulas for the individual COVID-19 patient. I’ll be going into greater detail on this in ...my next podcast (out tomorrow). In the meantime, you can access my current episode for preventative measures and boosting immunity from a Chinese Medicine perspective, incorporating the latest findings and experience from my colleagues on the frontline in China. I’m continuing to offer herbal prescriptions via online or telehealth consultations, for those experiencing cold/flu/other symptoms and self-isolating.
