16.01.2022 Well here we are, Christmas 2020. What a year! I’ve met many new people this year, as well as worked with my longer term people and it’s all been a blast. Some of us have thrived this year and some suffered, but the important thing is that we all have each other’s backs, whichever way we’ve gone. This year has seen the wonderful Rachael Bilton join my team. The events for next year that she is helping me put together are super exciting and I can’t wait to get stuck into... 2021! Huge thanks to Rachael for everything, worth her weight in gold I’ve got a couple of weeks off now and will have limited availability on the road during January, as I spend some time on the farm with my family and my own horses. Lessons and clinics will still run from home base in Burra and I’ll be in touch with everyone when I’m back to travelling for lessons. So, Merry Christmas everyone. May you be surrounded by loved ones and if apart, may you be able to share the day through technology and let’s all hope this time next year, the hugs can be real. Kirsten

14.01.2022 Anthony Desreaux will be joining us again in March 2021. 01.01.2022 Love this. I attended one of these virtual Zoom clinics as a fencesitter earlier this year and loved it. Dr Peters and Martin together are just a powerhouse of good information. We really do need to expose our horses to pressure in a safe and controlled environment, to help them build the skills toward self regulation of their anxiety, whilst being careful not to tip them over into a space where they cannot learn and damage is done "The ability to "self regulate" while und...er pressure comes after the horse has had the opportunity to "find safety" multiple times under relatively low pressure. One has to actually practice to SHOW the horse that mentally finding safety is the answer. After the horse has some experience in this self regulation. He can find it on his own under pressure. If the horse does not know how to self regulate under pressure, they are victims of their own neurochemistry and will default to the built in defensive circuitry (high sympathetic arousal resulting in increased norepinepherine (adrenaline) and cortisol (stress hormones). At this high level of sympathetic arousal, you lose the horse and you are done." Dr. Stephen Peters Dr. Stephen Peters commenting on Martin's video of starting colts: you can watch it here...https://youtu.be/P6lkZiY8hZY We have 10 Fence Sitter Tickets available for the AM Session: https://martinblack.net/shop/ebh-virtual-clinic-10-27-20
