20.01.2022 I thought I would post this picture to show how simple maintenance to modern day engines can prevent extreme damage. In the photo there are 3 ignotion coils out of a late model Mazda. In this case the spark plugs were not replaced at the specified interval. On one cylinder the spark plug had broke down overtime and failed, when this happend the ignition coil was not able to deliver its high voltage spark and has sent a high surge of cuurent back to the ECU which damage the circuit board and fried the components inside the ECU. The photo shows 3 coils. The one on the left is in working condition. The middle one was the one that failed and damaged the ECU. The right one is a brand new coil which overheated and failed instantly after being replaced. Who would have thought a spark plug could cause so much damage.
