25.01.2022 You wake up, in your unit, to birds chirping and blue skies and decide you need to make the most of this beautiful day. Do you: A) Take the 500m flat walk to stunning Mona Vale Beach, grab a coffee at the local cafe and enjoy the ocean view B) Take the 500m walk to Mona Vale shops, where you can visit local grocery/clothing/homewares/book shops, Mona Vale Library and grab some lunch at one of the many restaurants?; or C) Walk 100m to the nearest bus stop and go on an adventu...re. One thing is for sure; with all of this on your doorstep (and more), there really is no place like Seabeach Gardens.

23.01.2022 Happy birthday to our superstar manager, Aimee! Aimee has worked at Seabeach Gardens for 26 years and her care and loyalty to the residents and the Village is as strong as ever. Thank you for everything you do

22.01.2022 Many happy returns of the day to our wonderful staff member, Lucy! Lucy commenced working part-time as a kitchen hand in 2003 before moving on to another part-time role of being a personal carer and is now our newest full time administration employee as Operations Co-ordinator. Happy Birthday Lucy, and what a way to start the day with this incredible looking breakfast at a little cafe, right here in Mona Vale.... P.s We are happy to report that the pancakes were rated 11/10

21.01.2022 The weather was lovely and warm today, just perfect for a stroll down to Mona Vale Beach, which is exactly what our resident, Helen, and staff member, Lily, did. One of the perks of being so close to the beach? You get to sleep in, grab a coffee in our Coffee Shop, go for a walk to and along the beach and still be home in time for lunch at noon. ... Win win!

21.01.2022 The gardens are in full bloom and this beauty certainly to the occasion. Please take this as your friendly reminder to stop and smell the roses

19.01.2022 Long Distance Celebration When one of our residents was unable to attend her granddaughters wedding (due to distance and COVID) our thoughtful staff members prepared a wonderful high tea, on the wedding day, so Ann could celebrate from home, with friends. We are so grateful to have the incredible staff we do, who go above and beyond without ever needing to be asked. Our team really put the in careworker and we are very proud. ... Thank you so much to Lilly and Lily for this wonderful display of care, consideration and respect There really is no place like Seabeach Gardens

15.01.2022 R U OK DAY This question is as important as ever this year, as we collectively go through something so alien. We have steps in place, at our Village, to maintain the mental health, as well as physical health of our residents, such as welfare checks, group activities, movie times etc. ... Remember, a simple question or an act of kindness could make the world of difference to someone...so spread positivity around like confetti!

14.01.2022 We know people have many questions and preconceived ideas about retirement village living, so we have gathered the Top 5 Most Common Myths About Retirement Villages and debunked them. #1. , . ... The only age requirement is that you must be (minimum) 55 years old. The ages of Seabeach Gardens residents range from 56 - 103! As for 'sick people'...Seabeach Gardens offers personal care IF you require it. This can range from assisting with medications, showering, dressing or simply taking out the rubbish and can either be a long term or short arrangement, the decision is yours. Most importantly, IF you do need care you are not required to move a second time within the village. All services come to you. #2. ’ . The term 'man's best friend' doesn't stop being true just because you are moving! We are a pet friendly village, and love seeing residents out and about walking their dogs or lazing at home with their cat. Pets, for a lot of people, are essential to mental health and overall quality of life, and we are absolutely on board with that. #3. ’ . As mentioned, the minimum age requirement is 55. If you've retired at 55 then more power to you, but for the large majority of Australian's, that is not the case. We have a number of residents, from pharmacists to park rangers who still work. How you spend your days is entirely up to you. And for those days you come home from work and couldn't possibly think about preparing dinner...? Well, with a dining room serving dinner 7 nights a week, we've got you covered. #4 . How you spend your time is a decision that is 100% yours. If you enjoy some downtime then our library and TV room are stocked with fantasic books and DVDs to borrow at your leisure. Or you can grab a coffee from our coffee shop and find a relaxing, quiet spot in our garden. And if you do feel like socialing our monthly calender lists all the activities that are on, that you can pick and choose from. Activities include indoor bowls, ladies/mens group, cards, snooker, art class and more. #5. ’ . It's your home, of course you can entertain! Guests are welcome in our dining room also...Just book in and you're good to go. Grandkids visiting? It's perfect weather now for a swim, so why not take advantage of the proximity to Mona Vale Beach, or use our indoor pool? Did you know we have a 'Family Stay' unit? No need to buy a bigger unit that you require, to accommodate guests. Our family stay unit is in our main block and has a kitchenette, dining table, full bathroom, queen bed and balcony...what more could you want?

14.01.2022 Dementia affects close to half a million Australians. That number is set double in the next 25 years. If we are to prepare for this increase, it is vital we clear up some of the prevailing misconceptions about dementia. The concept for Dementia Action Week 2020, 'A little support makes a lot of difference', has been developed in consultation with Dementia Advocates, who have a lived experience of dementia. The stories and voices that will feature across Dementia Action Week are real. Register today to find out more and show your support: dementia.org.au/dementia-action-week.
