25.01.2022 Yesterday we advised what the weather forecast was for Friday when the Balga Friday Market was to be held- we also said that Ancell would go down this morning, and despite the weather forecast, if enough sellers wanted to attend, he would let them in, and that's what happened- even though it was wet, and rain threatened, some 30 sellers turned up, and set up to sell. Buyers and members of the public attended also, perhaps in lesser numbers because of the inclement weather, bu...t nevertheless there was a steady flow of people attending the market. The main reason we opened today, was as a sign of good faith, we had been shut for 6 months because of Covid-19, and we felt we owed it to sellers and the public to make the effort and open up when previously we might have closed due to the inclement weather. Hopefully we can look forward to better times ahead, fine weather, a full house, and the public attending in ever increasing numbers.

25.01.2022 The Balga Friday Market will not be re-opening yet- we have made enquiries of the City of Stirling yet again, but the answer is the same- because of Covid-19 restrictions and Federal Government & City of Stirling guidelines- we are not allowed to re-open yet. When we get permission, we will let everyone know- We appreciate that many people are asking why are we not opening- and unfortunately the answer is still the same- WE ARE NOT ALLOWED-YET.... So please be patient, when we know more, we will let you know In the meantime, please take care, look after yourselves, and save your money until we re-open.

24.01.2022 It was incident free at Balga Friday Market today- so congratulations everybody, and lets hope it stays like this. A word of advice to those few sellers who were classified as regulars a couple of weeks ago, and today did not attend the market, remember, if you do not notify us that you will not be attending, we will replace you as a regular and allocate your bay to someone else. ( if you are going to be absent, call or send a text message to Ancell on 0404 790 037) And just to let you know, we are doing a bit of rearranging where we have had a few extra bays made available, and these bays will be for casual sellers only- where we are hoping to have the new bays marked out and ready for next week, or if not then, the week after.

24.01.2022 With the year 2020 fast coming to an end- the Balga Friday Market team supervisors & volunteers alike, would like to thank everyone ( sellers, other market patrons, City of Stirling Herb Graham Management & Staff, the Softball Association for their line marking assistance, other City of Stirling officers & Security) for helping us bring the market to you each week. Most of our on site market team and some of our management committee representatives have been part of the B...FM for many years and are also getting on in years, with some of the team in their mid to late 70s and yet they are there before the market starts each morning, they attend on site meetings with the City of Stirling, and off site committee meetings as and when required, and they do their very best to keep Balga Friday Market running to the best of their ability, and its a credit to them all, and they put all this effort & commitment in, just so we can run a great market as well as financially support our local community. Next year 2021 Balga Friday Market will have been operating for 40 years, so if you see us doing a bit of flag waving, and celebrating, you will know why. Next Friday the 18th December will be our last market for the year, but we will be back on Friday the 15th January 2021. So to all our Balga Friday Market sellers & market patrons we would like to thank you all for the year we have just had, we know its been a difficult journey what with Covid-19 and the market being shut for many months, but your patience and understanding was appreciated and together we have prevailed. Come along next week and see Santa And we hope to see you all when we return in 2021- have a great Christmas & New Year break - God Bless & Best Wishes to all.

24.01.2022 This Friday-Balga Friday Market- is hosting a TELETHON Friday- all gate, kitchen & collection tin receipts will be donated - last year we donated $2,300 to Telethon- lets see if we can do better this year - Also our Telethon sausage sizzle will be on again with a sausage in a bun & cool drink for $4- Ancell & Helen hope to see you all on the day

23.01.2022 The Balga Friday Market wishes to thank all those market patrons who have attended at Princess Wallington Reserve over the years to attend our market- When we relocated from our original site in the car park of Balga Recreation Centre ( where Leisurepark is now) in 2006, we had a much smaller market than now, so we have grown, mainly because of the availability of so much land, and the generosity of the City of Stirling, to whom we are beholden. We now are moving again, this... time to Herb Graham Recreation Centre - Mirrabooka open space - next to Stirling Leisure Centre (over the road from Centrelink, and down the road from Mirrabooka Shopping Centre) - and the good news is, so many people know where we are going to, and how to get there. So, thank you City of Stirling for helping us at every step of our journey, from the very beginning in 1981 when we commenced at Balga Recreation Centre, to our relocation to Princess Wallington in 2006, and now to Herb Graham in Mirrabooka, without your help we would not have been able to go the distance, the people of Balga & surrounding suburbs would not have had a Friday Market, and the schools, junior sport, seniors, community etc groups would not have been able to share in the tens of thousands of dollars we have donated over the years. So if we are to continue donating, the new market has to be a winner, so we are looking forward to renewing friendships and contact with so many patrons from Balga, at our new site in Mirrabooka- starting on Friday 1st November 2019

23.01.2022 The Balga Friday Market is CLOSED We intended to open, and at 6am there were about 20 vehicles waiting to enter, but after a shower of rain some left, but Ancell & Helen remained, then it cleared up, a few more vehicles arrived but then some more rain, so they left again and is was like this right up to the time, after a couple of hours, when we decided to close- but every time the sun shines the phone runs hot with "is the market open" questions- So remember, if you turn up so do we, but we cant run a market based on patrons who come & go based on fluctuating weather patterns-

23.01.2022 When we said we were looking to sign (some) sellers up as regulars- we will not be including those who break the rules, and in particular, those who drive their vehicles before 11 am- or those who forced open the chain gate last Friday so they could get away early. Whilst the majority of sellers do the right thing-there are a few who don't - and this wont be tolerated- so IF YOU FAIL TO DO AS REQUIRED - then don't be surprised if Ancell tells you not to come back. The City o...f Stirling expects us to comply with a range of non- negotiable requirements- and we have to take a hard line in order to comply So don't get in your vehicles before 11am-

22.01.2022 We have had it confirmed that Max & Eleanor Geue have resigned from the Balga Community Association inc, and Balga Friday Market- and we want to take this opportunity to thank them for their service, commitment and contribution to our cause. Max & Eleanor have been associated with the Balga Community Association as management committee members, and with Max as a former President, and Eleanor in the kitchen at the Balga site, and as Balga Friday Market volunteers for many years, they were both committed team members. So on behalf of us all, thank you Eleanor & Max for your support and contribution.

22.01.2022 Today, at Balga Friday Market- we raised $2,200- for Telethon- thank you to all those who helped us raise this amount.

22.01.2022 A BALGA FRIDAY MARKET UPDATE We Know that people are anxious and want the market back- And so do we - But we are not Allowed. Many market Patrons are contacting Ancell on a regular basis telling him the market should be open, that Facebook advice says it is, other markets are opening- and when stage 4 happens markets can open - NOT TRUE... Balga Friday Market site is controlled by the City of Stirling, and until they allow us to re-open - WE STAY SHUT Winter is just about on us, and we all know that the threat of rain keeps people away from the market- and many times we tried to open last year but patrons stayed away. So Remember, WE WANT THE BALGA FRIDAY MARKET TO RE-OPEN - But until we get the all clear- WE CANT

22.01.2022 The Balga Friday Market is now closed until the 15th January 2021 We hope all market patrons have a well earned break- keep safe and we will see you all when we return on Friday the 15th January 2021. From: Ancell & Helen BFM market supervisors

21.01.2022 Ancell attended at the market, together with some sellers, but a shower of rain at about 6am saw the sellers leave- Ancell stayed until 7am then he left with the market closed. Although a couple of hours later Ancell received a phone call from Herb Graham management to advise that a couple of sellers had arrived late, and set up a stall in the car park - their car registration numbers were taken, and the City of Stirling Rangers notified - Ancell reacted by advising the wayw...ard sellers that they were not allowed to operate from the car park, he then advised them that they would be refused entry at the market for 1 week for illegally setting up in the car park. And for those who don't understand why Ancell took this action-we are legally responsible for managing Balga Friday Market, we have had to sign an event management contract & a traffic management contract, and the rules are tough and enforceable, therefore we have to stamp out non compliance if and when it occurs- and for those who think ( and some do) that its council property, and they can do as they please, we would remind them that because Balga Friday market is classed as an event, that when an event is on, the event management ( in this case us) are required to comply with the rules, and take action where the rules are not complied with- fortunately we very rarely have any issues, but when we do, expect us to go by the book.

20.01.2022 Balga Friday Market RETURNS Next Friday 17th January at HERB GRAHAM Mirrabooka

20.01.2022 This Friday 25th October 2019 will be Balga Friday Market's last day in Balga for a while- and the much awaited Princess Wallington Skateboard & BMX redevelopment project is set to commence soon resulting in all site access to the market being made into a construction site. So we look forward to seeing all market patrons who have enjoyed coming to our Balga market, to meeting up with you at the Herb Graham Site in Mirrabooka We will all be there, the same people who have been... with the market for years, and we look forward to meeting you at Mirrabooka on the 1st November. And just a final word on where we are going- for those who still don't know where to go, its in the carpark opposite Centrelink, and just up the road from Mirrabooka Shopping Centre- just follow the signs. See you there.

20.01.2022 Well, what is the weather forecast for tomorrow - Ancell has checked a few weather forecast options and it seems that it has a 60% chance of being fine weather. So based on this, Ancell will be at the market tomorrow, and if enough sellers want to access the market site - he will open up. So we will take a chance, will you ?

20.01.2022 The Balga Friday Market will be operating again this Friday 15th November- we haven't made any radical changes yet, as we need to settle in first, and this will take a bit of time. We are looking to introduce "walk ins" for those people who park in the car park and bring/carry their items to sell with them from the car park, where we are allowed to use the fenced court area between the car park and market site, and anyone interested in using this area, please speak to Ancell... on 0404 790 037, or on the day. We are also going to encourage people who take two bays, with one bay for their vehicle, to move the vehicle in order to free up more bays- this might not work for everyone, but last week a number of sellers who had their vehicle in the second bay, were not operating from the vehicle, therefore they could have moved it. Also based on last week, sellers who kept their vehicles along side their bay, and despite repeated requests for them to move the vehicle, they refused- if they continue to refuse to follow requests to comply, or observe our safe working guidelines, then they might not like the consequences we will impose. It must be remembered, this isn't Balga, and we are also under review from the City of Stirling, so if we expect you to do it our way, its for a reason. And, if we are going to eventually review our booking guidelines ?, then whilst we have a number of ex Balga sellers who always did the right thing, there are others who didn't , and its these people who refuse to follow the rules, and any new comers who don't comply, that might not be included if and when decisions are made about bay allocation.

20.01.2022 Balga Friday Market wishes that all market patrons have a Happy New Year, and that in 2021 we see the back of Covid-19 once a vaccine is available. Don't forget, the BFM reopens on Friday the 15th January - see you all there.

18.01.2022 We have finally received the pamphlets from the printers for market patrons- its similar to the one we handed out to sellers last week, but this pamphlet has information for buyers/market patrons- and it has multilingual information in 8 different languages- so we will be handing them out from about 8.30am, but you can always ask market volunteers for a copy if you want.

18.01.2022 Ancell & Helen discussed the markets and the weather forecast for tomorrow, and came to the conclusion that it would be wet & windy- therefore they reluctantly decided to close the Balga Friday Market on Friday 1st November Any offer, including "1st bay free" offer for tomorrow, will extend over until next week.

17.01.2022 Today after the Balga Friday Market was closed-a few vehicles returned and started to sell mainly strawberries from the backs of vehicles in the car park- this practice is illegal, and in this instance photos were taken of the vehicles and of some of the people involved. We will be following this up- its not on, and where we find that instructions were ignored then infringements will apply. And for those who challenge our authority to impose any form of penalty- in this instance, the City of Stirling has instructed us to deal with, we run the market, we deal with the flack

16.01.2022 Despite a Covid-19 shutdown- Balga Friday Market donated $15000- to local schools,$5000 to junior sport & $2000 to Senior groupsDespite a Covid-19 shutdown- Balga Friday Market donated $15000- to local schools,$5000 to junior sport & $2000 to Senior groups

16.01.2022 To all our Balga Friday Market patrons who attended our first day back for 2020- thank you, it was a great day, almost a full house, and we look forward to meeting up again next week.

16.01.2022 The weather bureau says it might rain tomorrow- but Ancell will attend the market in the morning anyway, and if sufficient sellers want to attend, he will open up

15.01.2022 There will be a few changes at Balga Friday Market, the current system of allowing sellers to select their bay before entering the market site by placing an item in a bay, whilst still queued up in the car park- will not be allowed. What has been happening is that sellers by pre selecting their bay has caused confusion when the first vehicles enter the market site, where because so many bays are pre selected, vehicles are driving and parking anywhere as they try and find a fr...ee bay, and it is causing a bank up of traffic, and many sellers still in the queue cant get near the bays because of the traffic jam further up the line. So starting this week, vehicles entering the market will be shown to a bay, and vehicles entering after them, will fall in line, and this way we hope that everyone will be able to get a bay sooner, set up quicker, with less trouble, less arguments, and an easier process. WE WILL TELL YOU WHICH BAY YOU CAN HAVE, please don't try and jump the queue or line when you are being shown a bay, we are trying to settle everyone - and sellers who fail to fall in line, will only disrupt an other wise orderly system And don't park your vehicles under the big tree - every week we have to argue with sellers who want to park under the tree, even though they are not allowed- you can sell under the tree, but no vehicles are allowed. So please, everyone, help us to help you- if we can get everyone settled as soon as possible, you can start selling sooner. And if this works, then we will look to introduce other seller friendly options in the new year, but its up to you, you help us, and we will help you.

15.01.2022 Just a reminder to all those market patrons who queue up in the car park early in the morning, you are not supposed to arrive much before 4am- also when they enter the market site, the maximum speed limit is 8 KPH And as for telling patrons to move their vehicles to designated positions- these are places that we have been instructed to use - and its non-negotiable- we have to have all vehicles in a certain position- AND no vehicles are to drive across the playing field- if y...ou do this, you run the risk of not being allowed back at the market. Last week patrons drove across the sports oval as a short cut despite us trying to warn them off, the City of Stirling saw them, we saw them, photos were taken, and its not to happen again. And NO ONE is to move their vehicles before 11 AM - we are under strict instructions here- its a safety issue, the market is still operating- and continues operating until 12 noon- so if you move your vehicle before 11 am ( last week patrons went to move their vehicles from 10.30 to 10.50am)- and this is NOT ON - and no one is to drive back to the gate until after 11am. Please guys, a bit of commonsense here- just take your time, there is no hurry, and we will all be better for it- and before you go, make sure to take your rubbish with you.

13.01.2022 Possible change of plans- we said we will open this Friday- but the authorities might decide otherwise- we will update tomorrow, and will advise ASAP

13.01.2022 This week at Balga Friday Market all was well regarding patrons entering the market in the morning, everyone queued in a single file as required, so thank you everybody for this. But whilst the market in general went well, some people wont be returning after their attitude on Friday, and unfortunately, its not acceptable for them to scream, swear, threaten and yell at onsite volunteers and supervisors, who are only trying to enforce the rules and regulations imposed on us by ...the City of Stirling. Also patrons who are asked to move their vehicles to the select area for vehicles, have to do it our way, all they have to do is listen and do it, but again they try and do it their way- but it wont work, if people refuse to listen and park where they want, or try and be awkward and difficult to deal with, its easier for us to refuse them site entry, and then for them to exceed the site speed limit of 8 KPH, and drive off across the sports field which is out of bounds, is making it difficult all round, and it has to STOP. We have had City of Stirling officers at the market and they have sent us photos of offending vehicles, details of vehicles driving across the playing field - and its these people who have a choice, do it right or don't come. And another thing- there was so much rubbish left lying around after the market- RUBBISH is Your responsibility, clean up after yourselves, take your rubbish home, and leave THE MARKET SITE AS YOU FOUND IT.

13.01.2022 We are getting close to the time Balga Friday Market will be re-locating But we thought we would share some facts with you. Did we want to relocate - no we didn't... Did we have a choice- well, yes we did - we two choices, "we could close or we could relocate" So why did we choose to relocate - well, after we have been running our market for 38 years, we recognised that we have a responsibility to all those people ( market sellers,-buyers-& members of the public ) who have been attending for years, and we have a responsibility to all the local schools, junior sporting clubs, senior clubs, community clubs, children's charities including Telethon - that we donate to every year. We like doing what we are doing - so we decided that by relocating we can continue doing what has worked for us. But it hasn't been easy, we have had to apply for planning approval, we have to have an event management plan in place, we have to have a traffic management plan, and we have had to be scrutinised by just about every department at the City of Stirling just to make sure that every possible eventuality has been considered- but it was worth it. So to all those whingers who complain and argue about our decision to relocate to Herb Graham in Mirrabooka - you should appreciate that we did what we did, for the people, the community, the genuine market patrons, and for all those organisations we donate to- in fact we did what we did - For You So please don't let us down- when we relocate, come along and have a look, take part, help us realise our aim to continue funding our community needs- remember, we have donated tens of thousands of dollars over the years - and with your continued help- we can continue to donate well into the future.

13.01.2022 Today at Balga Friday Market all went well, it was a bit quieter than usual, and we think the high temperatures kept a few away, and whilst most let us know they would not be attending today, a few still forgot to advise, and we will be speaking to these sellers on their return. The arrangement at the eastern side of the market (where the ground slopes away) has been implemented where we have added a row of bays, and heavy vehicles & sellers have moved down the slope to the n...ew bays, and the bays at the top are now reserved for casual sellers- The market is becoming more settled, regulars have semi permanent bays to go into, where placement is easier and quicker- and casuals have a designated area as well, so its starting to work out well for everybody. The Balga Friday Market on site team, lead by Ancell & Helen, would like to thank all market patrons for their support and patience during our transition from Balga to Mirrabooka, and we look forward to a good working relationship going forward.

12.01.2022 The Balga Friday Market would like to say a big "thank you" to all market patrons who are supporting us and help get the message out, that if we all pulled in the same direction, it would be that much easier in keeping the authorities onside. There has been a noticeable improvement each week whilst we have been at the Mirrabooka site and this week everything seemed to go well, and after the market finished, the market site was free of most rubbish, though not all, but it was... an improvement over last week, so thank you again. We are still seeing some patrons not sure where to park their car, or when to move their vehicle etc, but the message is getting through- and we are confident that we will soon get on top of the problem, which will please the City of Stirling grounds staff. And finally, we had an Ice cream van/coffee van with us this week, where you get the best of both worlds- coffee & other drinks, and ice cream - and we also have the Stirling Lions nearby providing us with their famous sausage in a bun, and bacon & egg burgers, as well as cool drinks- If sellers see these food outlets entering the market site before 6am, its because we thought if they set up and started cooking early, then breakfast can be had before selling commences..

12.01.2022 We have been very busy for months now trying to have everything in place for our relocation to Herb Graham in Mirrabooka- and whilst we have just about succeeded, we didn't factor in the weather- so will it rain on Friday, we just don't know- but we are praying it wont- but we will let you know closer to the time if its a problem.

12.01.2022 Balga Friday Market will be closed this Friday 20th March We are advised by the authorities that that unless we can comply with a whole range of stringent health & safety regulations they cant allow us to open - and from our point of view the most appropriate outcome is to comply with Health & Safety guidelines and close. We will post updates from time to time and keep market patrons informed - when we know, you will know.

12.01.2022 Well, another good day at Balga Friday Market - and Ancell & Helen were going around making up a register of regular attendees- But to qualify as a regular, you have to have been attending for quite some time - both at Balga & Mirrabooka- you have to have ticked all the boxes - being compliant with our policy & procedures is a requirement - not driving onsite before 11am if leaving early - keeping us informed at all times if not able to attend, and if possible, advising us fo...r how long you will be absent. Not all market attendees will qualify as a regular, the decision will be ours, many attendees are happy with casual status where they can come and go as required. Regulars will have pre-determined bays, and will have the opportunity of entering the market site early if on time. This arrangement is being introduced on a trial basis to see how it goes, it came about after Ancell & Helen spoke to market patrons about making the market easier to access and how to maintain numbers. Its like we have always said, if you look after us, we will look after you.

11.01.2022 Balga Friday Market update! According to the Bureau of Meteorology we have a 90% chance of rain in the morning - it advises that over the day we will only have 2-5mm of rain - so whilst the weather bureau does not expect much rain- we have to look at it from a market point of view. So Ancell will be at the market in the morning, but if its raining at 6am then its unlikely the market will go ahead - but Ancell will give sellers the option if any actually turn up.... If the market does not go ahead because of the weather we can only tell it as it is- and if it not on, we hope to see you all next week, when with a bit of luck, and fine weather, we can open up again.

11.01.2022 As many of you know all proceeds from the Balga Friday Markets go back into the local community. We have had a very successful year and a proud to say we have donated $12000 to Charities $17000 to Local Schools $10000 to Local Sporting Clubs... $4000 to the local Senior Groups A further $7000 towards our local champions, Girl Guilds, Westminster Community Food Garden Group & Balga Community Action Group to name a few. We would like to thank everyone who support us over the year, without your support we couldn't do what we do.

10.01.2022 Not long to go now, we are moving to the Herb Graham in Mirrabooka on the 1st of November. In the coming weeks we will be handing out this information flyer. Please read and any question ask Ancell or Helen at the Markets on Friday.

09.01.2022 It looks like being a perfect day this Friday for the Balga Friday Market to re-commence at the grassed area next to Herb Graham Recreation Centre in Mirrabooka- Ancell & Helen will be the site supervisors with a team of 3-4 volunteers who will be wearing identifiable light blue shirts with Balga Friday Market lettering on the shirts- so any questions on the day please refer to the volunteers. Because this is a new site for everyone, there might be some teething issues at fi...rst when sellers enter the ground- there will be areas we are not allowed on, areas marked by cones, and regarding the large tree, we are not allowed to drive vehicles over the tree roots, or park vehicles over the roots, but stalls can be operated next to the tree, but vehicles must be moved elsewhere. Food will be provided by Stirling Lions who have a great reputation for providing great food & service- and whilst we haven't as of yet confirmed a coffee van, if we don't have a coffee van on the day, coffee and other drinks can be purchased from inside the Herb Graham Centre- where toilets are also located. So please be aware, this new market will be different from the Balga site, but we will do our very best to help everyone settle in. So come along on Friday, it will be a great day.

09.01.2022 Well, the Balga Friday Market had its first taste of operating at Mirrabooka on Friday 8th November, and it was a mixed bag of emotions depending on where you might have been at the time. The volunteers were just about run off their feet, and being mostly seniors, the word run is a bit of a stretch, but we were busy, and for those in the car park waiting to get in the market site, for many it was a frustrating and disappointing experience, and those who arrived on site, it wa...s a bit daunting for some in trying to find a bay from which to operate, but all in all, it might have taken a bit of time to settle things down, but the market started just about on time, and it went smoothly from there. We had a large number of buyers coming in to the market, and to see them streaming in across the park, and from the carpark was a joy to behold because we didn't know if our message about the re-located market had been received- but apparently it had. But what about those issues at the beginning of the day in the car park, or near the market entrance - to start with, people who do not wait in the main car park will not gain entry to the market- and for those in the car park, we had plans in place which were largely ignored, and rumours were made by ill informed people for some reason or another, but all it did was confuse some people, and disrupt the orderly flow into the market we had envisaged. So what went wrong, well someone started a rumour we only had 50 bays, but "this was not true" but the free bay may have had a bigger impact than we thought because more people turned up than we expected, some of whom were people we hadn't seen before, so they were not all regulars, and on entering the site some said they were only there for the free bay, and the ticket that somebody handed out wasn't authorised either, and this didn't help as it confused some people who thought they were getting a guaranteed bay- but we have to do better. We will improve going forward, there will be no more wholesale free bays, we will instruct traffic controllers about people queuing in single file in the car park, we are looking to find a few more bays, and we hope to see our market grow. So to those who missed out, we apologise for your disappointment, and we apologise for the inconvenience, and disruption to what for many was supposed to be a pleasant morning at our market.

08.01.2022 "Its about time we had a Balga Friday Market update" Helen & Ancell, market supervisors, are impressed and appreciative with about 90% of patrons who sell at our market- they are the backbone of the market, they follow the rules, they help where they can, and their contribution is positive - but then we have the other 10% who are at times difficult. Bays are marked out for all to see, and between the bays we have wide access ways, that sellers cant sell from, the access ways ...are wide enough for emergency vehicles ( ambulance, police etc) and they have to be kept clear- so if you are extending your bay into the access way, you are breaking the rules, and when we tell you to move back into your bay, if you do not, we can enforce the rules by refusing entry. Then we have some challenge us, they pay for one bay, but when we turn our backs, they encroach into another, or they want to move, or its to windy, and some people just keep up with their demands, and can be argumentative when we try and explain the rules - but we are in charge of the market, and the City of Stirling have advised us that if people do not comply, then we have the authority to take action, including refusing re-entry. And in recent times, we are noticing the amount of rubbish some market patrons ( sellers & other patrons) are leaving behind- It has always been the case that sellers and other market patrons take all your rubbish with you when you leave - if you are caught doing the wrong thing we will take action- ALL RUBBISH MUST BE REMOVED WHEN YOU LEAVE- Take it With you. And if anyone threatens Helen, Ancell, or any of our onsite market team, then "WE WILL TAKE ACTION" which can include reporting to the POLICE, getting City of Stirling Rangers involved, recording your actions, and refusing future market entry- so to those 10% of market patrons who want to "rock the boat" remember, its our market, and you do it our way, or not at all- its your choice.

08.01.2022 Ancell & Helen have given some consideration to allowing "REGULARS" at Balga Friday Market, to return to their pre-allocated bays if they remember where to go, but this only applies to regulars who arrive on site on time- arrive to late and your bay may be reallocated - If you are not coming, or coming late please let Ancell know after this Wednesday on 0404 790 037 All other sellers will be placed in a casual bay by Ancell, Helen or Rob... Hopefully most sellers will return, and it will be business as usual, the "blue court" area will still allow "walk ins" where the car is parked in the car park, and you carry your goods in to sell. And don't forget we have Covid-19 rules and regulations in place, which have to be complied with. All we need now is fine weather - so if everyone prays for no rain, then we might have a head start

08.01.2022 Only one incident at Balga Friday Market today, as a result of last weeks reclassification for 80% of sellers as regulars with designated bays, we had one patron who was absent last week, and went into a bay that had been allocated to another. And when appraised of the situation, started to get angry with Ancell, where a bit of pushing and shoving took place and a punch or push was made- and instead of calming down, and sorting the issue out, angry voices resulted in the pers...on involved being told to leave - its simple, if you put your hands on us, you are not welcome at our market. City of Stirling Security were notified and attended, and a Police report will be made. But otherwise, the market ran very well, at almost full capacity, the lessons of last week were adhered to, and no one drove out before 11am - a great outcome guys.

07.01.2022 The Management of Balga Friday Market hopes that all market patrons are safe & well, that you are observing the rules for keeping the Corona Virus out of your life, and that once we have weathered the storm, we might see you all back at the market- Keep safe & God bless.

07.01.2022 The Balga Friday Markets is moving to the Herb Graham Mirrabooka. Pop down and have a look we are there every Friday from 8am to 12pm

07.01.2022 Well, at 6am this morning when the market was scheduled to open there were about 20 regulars ready to enter which they did, and then others phoned through and came down as well to set up and sell. Then at about 7am there was a heavy shower of rain, thunder and wind, which lasted for about 10-15 minutes, then some packed up and left - but some stayed, and selling continued. Ancell & Helen and other team members then decided because of the circumstances and the uncertainty of t...he weather we wouldn't collect bay fees today- though sellers remaining offered to pay. This decision not to collect bay fees today, only applies to those who attended today, and its only a one off. We said we would decide if we were to open, on the day, and we did, we asked sellers and market patrons to come along, which some did, and whilst it was fine for some of the time, it was not fine enough for all- so thank you everyone who made an effort to attend- and lets hope its fine weather next week.

06.01.2022 Here are the Balga Friday Market Annual - Christmas & New Year dates WHEN WE ARE SHUT- As most people know, we have a break over the Christmas & New Year so our patrons can celebrate the festive season- and so our volunteers can have a well earned break. So this year we are shut on the 25th DECEMBER 2020 - ... the 1st JANUARY 2021 and the 8th JANUARY 2021 And we return on Friday the 15th January 2021. Sellers will be given a notice showing the above dates, and other notices will be posted at the market for other market patrons, and Ancell or Helen will answer any questions if you have any concerns. Also on the last day at the market this year ( the 18th December) I hear that SANTA is going to pay a visit to buy a few supplies for his long voyage around the world the week after- and he might have one of his ELVES with him, so if you see him on the day, don't forget to let him know how good you have been all year long. We will keep you posted regards the above, if there are any changes.

06.01.2022 We have been meeting with the City of Stirling on and off now for some weeks trying to work out how we might be able to reopen Balga Friday Market, and comply with Covid-19 guidelines, and we have now reached agreement, but there are strings attached. In order to reopen, we have had to complete a Covid-19 safety plan, and complete a set of Covid-19 safe working procedures, which means, that we all have to work together, comply, with the rules, and recognise that non complianc...e will risk your attendance at the market. The market will be set up as it was prior to our close down back in March, the same number of bays, the same spacing, but the number of people selling in each bay is limited to a maximum of two people per bay- and they have to practice social distancing, and be a 2 meter distance from sellers in the next bay. Market patrons ( buyers & the public) must apply social distancing of 2 meters as they move around the market- they must also use sanitizer as and when necessary and when entering the market site. Sellers are required to provide sanitizer for each bay they occupy for their own use, and the use of customers. Some sellers in larger bays may be required to be relocated in order to maintain social distancing, and where there are sellers with 2 bays they are required to have no more that 4 people working in their bays all applying social distancing, and where sellers may have 3 bays its no more than 6 sellers, again all social distancing from each other ( some common sense may be-required here) There will be a requirement to apply sanitizer when you enter the market site from the main car park, at other locations, and when you are approached by market personnel who will operate throughout the market. But there will be a requirement for everybody for play by the rules, we have to do the right thing in accordance with the Covid-19 guidelines- and all other market patrons are required to follow the rules as well, and if the rules are not complied with, then we will be required to take action which may result in market attendance being refused- but we expect everyone to comply, do the right thing, and enjoy the return to our market. There may be City of Stirling officers checking at the market from time to time, and we will be in attendance making sure there are no problems, and to answer any questions you might have. So the news that everyone is waiting for, is when are we restarting, and because we have to arrange to have the market site marked out, the Covid-19 paperwork completed, the Covid-19 signs made, and advertising the return date, all of which will take a couple of weeks- so the Balga Friday Market will reopen on Friday the 11th September- so put this date in your calendar, tell your friends, and other market patrons who might be interested. Ancell & Helen will welcome you all back on the 11th September. See you all there.

05.01.2022 We have had a few enquiries about the market tomorrow, and we have advised that we will confirm later today- but as it stands we will be open unless we advise otherwise. When the weather forecast says 30% or 40% chance of rain- what this means is that there is a 70% or 60% chance it wont rain.

05.01.2022 Its been recently asked, when are we closing down for Christmas & New Year - well as many know, we close down each year to give us old-age volunteers a much needed rest, and at Herb graham there is a sports carnival on over this same period- so we are closing down as follows. OUR LAST DAY THIS YEAR will be on Friday 13th December when we shut down from 12 noon- THEREFORE WE WILL BE CLOSED::... On Friday 20th December 2019 - Friday 27th December 2019 - Friday 3rd January 2020 & Friday 10th January 2020 And, WE RE-OPEN on FRIDAY 17th JANUARY 2020 So its a Happy Christmas & New Year to all our market patrons from the Management & Staff (including all market volunteers) and we look forward to seeing you again in 2020

04.01.2022 A MESSAGE TO ALL BALGA FRIDAY MARKET PATRONS With "Corona Virus" on everyone's mind- we would like to remind all patrons ( sellers & other patrons) that if you are feeling unwell, or have just returned from overseas, or been in contact with friends who have been overseas Then PLEASE STAY AWAY from the market for at least a couple of weeks- before you return... This advice is made in the interests of public health & safety

03.01.2022 The Balga Friday Market recommenced yesterday Friday the 11th September 2020 after 6 months of Covid-19 lock-down, and its was a good day overall. We didn't expect a 100% return on the first day back, and some regulars had phoned Ancell to advise that they wouldn't be there on the day, but that they would be back in coming weeks. And the public attending the market, soon got used to a Covid market and as the day wore on and attendance numbers increased, where the vast majorit...y applied sanitizer as they entered the market site, and complied with the signs and directions regarding social distancing- and all market patrons, sellers & members of the public are to be thanked and congratulated for doing the right thing, and helping to enforce a Covid-19 stay safe message. The Balga Friday Market will be on each Friday from now on, weather permitting, and we expect more sellers and members of the public to return once they realise WE ARE BACK . So once again, a BIG thank you to everybody who attended for helping to make Balga Friday Market Covid-19 safe.

03.01.2022 Hello Balga Friday Market patrons, are you looking forward to the market re-opening soon ? because if you are, then we all have to comply with Covid-19 guidelines before the market can resume. We are required to have a Covid-19 plan, and to put in place a range of Covid-19 requirements- where a failure to comply will result in the market remaining closed- so we are going to comply with the Covid -19 guidelines, which will require all market patrons (sellers & members of the ...public) to comply with. The market will not be the same- bays will have to have a 2 meter space between them ( this means less bays) Until the Covid-19 guidelines are removed, we will discontinue with regulars ( no permanent bays for now)- and all bays placement will have to be changed - so your cooperation would be appreciated. We have to have Covid -19 signage at the market, Hand Sanitizer has to be used- & sellers have to provide their own Sanitizer for use on their stalls. For those sellers with 3-4 bays, they will be reduced to a maximum of 2 bays two bays in order to provide for more sellers at the market. There will be extra signage at the market- patrons will have to sanitize their hands when entering the market, and when asked, so please cooperate- we will have people walking around with sanitizer offering patrons the option of sanitized hands - If any market patron is unwell, suffering from a sore throat, a cold or cough or unwell, then please do not attend our market. And if we can achieve all of the above, we will re-open the market shortly ( we will confirm a re-opening date in the next week or so) The Covid-19 rules we have to comply with, all other markets have to comply with as they are State Government required guidelines. We understand that some patrons might not be happy with these temporary arrangements, but its we agree with the guidelines, or we don't re-open - and we all want the market back. Please let us know if you are prepared to work with us to get Balga Friday Market back up and running. Ancell & Helen will help all patrons when we return if any onsite questions are asked.

03.01.2022 The Balga Friday Market is still closed - but we are still in regular contact with the City of Stirling and with restrictions easing, and our talks continuing, its getting closer to the time we can think of a re-opening date But once we get the okay, we will have to do certain things to get ready for the big day When we know, we have to arrange for the market site to be marked out, so we want a dry day and a dry day for the market- we have to contact all our regular sellers a...nd let them know they can return, and we will have to advertise the re-opening, also, we have to arrange with the City of Stirling to make sure they are aware, we have to advise the management of Herb Graham so they can help set up the market site, and we ( most importantly) must have our onsite market supervisory team ready to go, because they like everyone else want a safe market environment to come back to. And lastly, we will most likely have to have a Covid_19 action plan in place, with hand sanitizer and other measures just to make sure we do the right thing and stay safe.

03.01.2022 Remember- Balga Friday Market is closed on Friday 3rd January & Friday 10th January - before we re-open on Friday 17th January - We have posted this information previously, but some people still turn up each Friday - So don't forget- Friday 17th January we all return.

02.01.2022 Just a reminder that this Friday is Balga Friday Market's last market day until next year- so come along, and whilst last week a few were scared off by the weather forecast, it was a great day, plenty of market patrons buying and selling. For those who attended last week you would have been part of the new system to help sellers into a bay, it was quicker, less hassle, no blocking of traffic, and people were set up and selling sooner - and this week its the same system, where hopefully it will be even better still.

02.01.2022 BALGA FRIDAY MARKET is Closed until Friday 17th January 2020.

01.01.2022 Balga Friday Market has just advised TELETHON that we are donating $1706.00 from yesterdays market.Balga Friday Market has just advised TELETHON that we are donating $1706.00 from yesterdays market.

01.01.2022 The Balga Friday Market will be closing at Balga after the market next week 25th October and we will be re-opening at Herb Graham at Stirling Leisure Centre on Friday 1st November. For those who are not sure where to go, we would suggest that from Princess Wallington Reserve, drive up Balga Avenue, turn right at Mirrabooka Avenue traffic lights, follow Mirrabooka Ave (under Reid Hwy) and turn Left at Milldale Way( at traffic lights) drive about 100 metres to round a bout and... turn left- into Chesterfield Road - and the new market site is on the left ( look out for the signs) The sellers arriving from 5am are to queue in the car park where traffic controllers will help until the market opens at 6am, and they will be taken to the new market site - and the buyers/members of the public will park in the same car park, and selling will commence from 7am There are rules, traffic controllers will direct traffic, be aware of signs, market volunteers will lend a hand in the care park if necessary- and remember as a new market site, City of Stirling will be present for a while to make sure we get it right, and that no problems occur - and based on past practice, it should be a great experience for all.
