22.01.2022 Its Spring (not a lot different to summer) BUT the orchids love this time of year. Here a some that are flowering now

21.01.2022 Shark egg washed up on our beach You never know what you will find on our beautiful Balgal Beach. These photos show a brown shark egg with gold along the edge. It would we interesting to find out what species it is. We now have it on display at reception along with some box jellyfish and a stonefish.

21.01.2022 ?Anyone lost a pigeon? We just saw this pigeon thinking is was a new species to us. When photographed saw it had an identification tag with the partial number 7179 (obviously a homing pigeon - away from home!!) ----Sorry we have been slack and not posted for ages - but for those who know us we are not digital media savvy :)

17.01.2022 Juvenile Blue-faced Honeyeater Terry was alerted to the young bird in our garden when its family were flying around and sounding their distress calls. It was interesting to see the brown face colour - which changes to bright blue as an adult. The second photo shows two of the adult flock.

14.01.2022 Hi Everyone Just a quick message to let everyone know that the units are open - high and dry - we have power , internet and have not been affected by the floods at all. We are blessed that we are on sandy soil and Terry has even been able to mow the lawns. There have been news stories showing damage to some homes in Balgal Beach and we have since been getting concerned phone calls and emails. Thankfully we have not been affected and thanks to those who have shown concern. 11.01.2022 :) 12 YEARS TODAY :) We just watched the full moon rise over the beach. What better way to celebrate our 12th year at the units.

11.01.2022 :) a 10 day holiday for the pigeon is now over :) We tracked down the owner of the bird last week who was from Ingham. The bird had flown south instead of north - thus having a 10 day holiday at Balgal Beach. I caught it this afternoon eating seed in a cage provided by its owner. It now has to go back to Ingham after enjoying its freedom in paradise.

We have had lots of interest but no buyers as yet HAPPY FESTIVE SEASON TO ALL We have gifted ourselves a water bore and a water storage tank. 03.01.2022 For those of you that know us we don’t often post on Facebook Shame on us! Wow what a year 2020 is one we will never forget COVID 19 has put the units into hibernation We can’t wait to welcome guests back who want to holiday in paradise once again... We are now able to take bookings for dates after June 12 in time for school holidays ( but we will all need to follow any relevant health guidelines.) We currently are only able to offer accommodation for essential travel. The decrease in guest movement has increased the birdlife with the Sunbird in the attached photos nesting last week on the fairy lights in the middle of the office walkway (Check out the lights in the nest) Still so so ready to retire our 17 years here have just passed Anyone out there wanting to live and work in paradise???
