23.01.2022 Beaches Link Update The Club is working with affiliated bodies and local community groups and pursuing its own initiatives to ensure the golf course is not decimated by the possibility of the Beaches Link Tunnel. The community groups maybe focused on keeping green space. We are insisting that this green space is golf course - which is additional challenge for us. Our position is NO LINK ROAD and golf course to resume after construction.... Multiple issues with Beaches Tunnel construction. Exhaust stack to be located in the lower section golf course. This is within 500m schools and 100m residents. In the valley. 4 lane Link Road through the golf course, providing access to the tunnel for Sydney Road traffic. This will replace the golf course and return smaller green space after construction. New intersection with lights on Sydney Road at Maretimo Street (corner of Balgowlah Boys Campus) and on Burnt Bridge Deviation. This will cause queued traffic and a costly unnecessary road being this Link Road. The State Government has implemented or been involved in the following on the Northern Beaches. Council amalgamations Closure of both Manly and Mona Vale Hospitals Debacle of traffic works at Frenchs Forest Proposed high density development of Ingleside With a state election next year the Liberals will not want another issue to further damage their re-election chances. What you can do? Give feedback on the RMS website Community Consultation www.rms.nsw.gov.au//sy/western-harbour-tunnel-beaches-link Send in writing to your local State MP, James Griffin [email protected] AND to RMS [email protected] When writing use the words I Object or I Oppose. Ask questions you want answered. Attend any RMS community consultation sessions and give your input. I cannot stress enough how IMPORTANT it is that you all, as individuals, express your objections to the State Government, RMS and local Member.

22.01.2022 1. We filter cigarettes, so why can’t we filter exhaust stacks near schools? Get the NSW Government to stop building toll tunnels and to filter exhaust stacks near schools. Please sign and share this petition and make them listen to our kids! http://chng.it/X7QJ2rxXR6 #SaveOurKids #StoptheTunnels #FiltertheStacks #WestConnex 2. The childhoods and educations of 100,000s of kids at over 250 schools across Sydney will be blighted by 5 years of non-stop construction of toll tunne...ls and unfiltered exhaust stacks near schools. Please sign and share this petition to stop it! http://chng.it/X7QJ2rxXR6 #SaveOurKids #SaveOurKids #StoptheTunnels #FiltertheStacks #WestConnex Longer FB post: My children face 5 years of their childhood and education blighted by pollution, traffic, noise, disruption and worse with the construction of the WestConnex tunnels and stacks near their school. And once they’re operational, the tunnels will have unfiltered exhaust stacks spewing out millions of tonnes of dangerous exhaust pollution, dangerous diesel particulates and other toxins every day over our children’s schools, our homes and the parks where they play every day. Please help make the Government to listen to us and sign our petition calling to stop building tolled tunnels and filter all existing and future stacks, especially near schools and childcare centres. And for all our kids’ sakes, please share this petition. http://chng.it/X7QJ2rxXR6 #SaveOurKids #StoptheTunnels #FiltertheStacks #WestConnex

19.01.2022 I have just finished going through a document "Move Northern Beaches Transport Discussion Paper". This is available on the Northern Beaches Council Website but I have attached PDF version for your quick access. This paper is dated June 2018, appears likely to have been commissioned by the Northern Beaches Council and details the results of community engagement by a consultant between 14 April and 13 May 2018. This discussion paper includes a separate Appendix showing all the ...responses by local community members which is also available on the Northern Beaches Council Website. A key point in the executive summary on P2 states under Roads and Traffic - "Community members were invited to comment on potential future priorities aimed at improving roads and traffic efficiency, management and capacity. This included references to proposed infrastructure projects such as the Beaches Tunnel and the improvements of east-west links. To improve current traffic congestion issues in the Northern Beaches, participants repeatedly mentioned the need to increase public and active travel options to reduce the need to rely on private vehicles. Simply facilitating safe active transport and using the existing infrastructure and services in a better managed and coordinated way resulting in a travel shift from the car to active and sustainable modes of travel." Nowhere in this report is there anything to indicate that a tunnel is wanted by a majority, they just want the traffic fixed. We all know what happens during school holidays, the traffic is OK and imagine how good the traffic would be if overnight we went from an average of 1 1/2 people per car to 3 people per car. Bus companies are lining up to provide mini bus services for schools, uber services are expanding and we could treble the number of B-Line buses to include Warringah road and other main arteries. I know that some in this group currently support a link tunnel but having read this report I am now lead to question why we need a $14 billion link tunnel at all, with no business case in place to justify it, and why the Council is advocating for it to go ahead unless the end game is to turn the Northern Beaches into the next Surfers Paradise. We need to be asking who or what is driving this insane link tunnel project and why. I do know that Mosman residents through their Council members have been pushing hard on this for years to ultimately create a Mosman bypass so that, contrary to a logical approach, Military Road can be still used for parking instead of turning into a freeway along with a pedestrian underpass or overpass at Spit Junction.
